    The title should be Caitlin WILL improve. Why? Because she doesn’t have the distractions of going to school, study, and what it takes to EARN a degree. In spite of all that Caitlin still improved each year in Iowa. Now she sets her own schedule, she works on what she knows is best, and her coaches tell her is her weakness. That’s why, Caitlin WILL improve. She is going into 2025 with a coach that has scouted and defensively planned how to stop her, that attention and feedback is going to be a big area for improvement.

      In the WNBA historically players that go to small schools are treated differently... I'm rooting for Caitlin but historically go look up one of her fellow alumni (Megan Gustafson) she was a problem at Iowa but she got the treatment Caitlin Clark is getting but at a lower level because she didn't have as much hype. ( Media wise) All I'm saying is there's a reason why Diana taurasi didn't want to give her any respect and it was because she didn't go to her school aka her alumni (Connecticut)

      Plus she's beefing up. And her attitude is returning. First half last year you could tell she was outmuscled by some other guards. You could tell night and day what just a months worth of beefing up did when she returned with a few more pounds of muscle. And you could tell that gave her confidence a HUGE boost because she started bullying girls again and thats one of my favorite things about her (She bullies like NBA guys bully each other, not stabbing people in the eye with talons but like when they try to foul her hard and she ducks out of the way, she will just stare them down)

    I'm glad that someone said it. Caitlin Clark and Aaliyah Boston can be Stockton and mini Malone. Considering the way Caitlin Clark and her people have handled her business so far, I would be very disappointed if she doesn't come back greatly improve. When she had a month off she came back doing a runner and a floater which she will perfect! I believe her people are definitely going to have Caitlin put in that work.

Support of parents and coaches and friends may have given her a boost but its her engine that provides the drive and discipline and motivation.

    Daaaaaaa**m***#!! This video was SO GOOD. The color call outs, the arrows, all of it. I'm new at fandom, but I aspire to be a smart fan and this is a great resource. Loved your description of Aliyah's screening. I'm gonna check out that overuse of the right hand on leftside layups now. Unless CC corrects, that is. Only thing I wonder about is the "score 30" advice. Women really thrive on teamwork and sharing, I think more than men. CC changed the course of the season when she went into mega-assist mode. I don't want to see that change. Anyway, I appreciate this video so much. Thanks!!

    I agree with most of what you’ve said. She had a lefty lay in college although she didn’t use it much. She has to bring that back as well as a floater asap. That being said, that scout on her, shoot left, drive right, they knew when she came into the W and she still put up monster numbers. 😊

      I saw a video where it plotted the average of all the long-range shooters in the NBA plus Clark and Clark was the leader at 28.06' with the highest NBA guy at 27.97'. I look at Clark 3-Pt as: WNBA 3-Pt line at 22' + 6' = 28' + 6' = 34'. Theoretically, ignoring the 0.06', Clark could never shoot from more than 34' to keep the average 3-Pt to 28'.

    If Indiana can pick up a real good forward such as Satou, teams will not be able to double team and blitz Clark as much either, that alone will help her stats grow. Smith is a good inside player, but is no threat beyond the foul line and at times blocks the lane instead of clearing out. CC will work on things she wants to improve, you can count on that. I think she'll be a monster next season.

    You expect a H3ll of a lot from CC. You expecting her to score 30 ppg this year. That would be a new record for 28 or more game schedule. CC played 37 minutes a game. She rested on defense. White will make her play defense this year. Her minutes will have to be around 32 a game.

    • @Michael-of6zf
      @Michael-of6zf หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      2nd half of the season she was averaging 25 a game. 30 is just another made 3 and a layup away.

    • @tyfunk6643
      @tyfunk6643 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      She averaged 35 minutes a game this year only because her team went from the 2nd best offense rating when she was on the court to the 2nd worse when she was on the bench. Indiana needs a backup point guard so cc can rest for a couple minutes a game. Also she is a better defender then you think she was in the 89 percentile for blocks and the 91 percentile for steals in the entire league. Yes she does have a tendency to rest on defense sometimes but when you consider her usage rate and offensive load she has to carry accounting for 36 points a game on average with her scoring and assists. Then it makes sense why she takes defensive possessions off.

  • @chawmcgraw4309

    Agree with everything you said so far but when talking about 40% from 3 in college.... important to remember those 3's range from 3pt line to the logo. Now maybe that means she needs to tighten her range a little, but I feel like 38% with shots from the logo might help the team more overall (opening the floor when 2 are guarding her at half court) than her shooting 45% from the 3pt line.

    Really good breakdown video. Can you make sure the link gets to Clark and the fever coaching staff? Apply to the Fever for a guest coach position. I'm confused. You said Clark is quick getting to and finishing at the basket. On defensive breakdown, you said Clark isn't fast. Which is it? Can she get faster with drills. In running, track or distance, no matter how good of shape one is in there is a limit to one's speed. If you have fast-twitch muscles, you have natural speed. I saw a video of Clark where she was working on her shooting grip to emulate that of Steph Curry and shoot with the ball on her right. If I remember correctly, only one player in the WNBA has had a 50 FG%, 40 3P% and 90 FT% season. That's a good goal for Clark. She has to reduce her turnovers. Is 2 turnovers per game realistic? If not, what is? And yes, Clark needs to shoot more; she was told that in college and last year with the Fever.

    • @DorianGroup82
      @DorianGroup82  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RJ_Ecoast2Wcoast I’m glad you caught that because I did too. Basketball has different types of speed. With the ball and without it. With the ball, Caitlin is relatively quick and shifty. Which is why she has to ability to make defenders fall. Without the ball, she’s not very quick laterally or moving backwards. This is the direction you are moving the most when you are playing defense. Trae Young is similar in this regard. Quick with the ball, slight above average athlete without it.
      I think given Caitlin’s usage rate and role on the the team, she doesn’t need to be an elite lockdown defender. Having her put in extra work to become an elite athlete laterally could be counterproductive to the Fever’s overall growth. She just needs to understands angles and can make big defensive plays at the right time. Get someone else to play defense.
      You can always find another Draymond before you find another Steph.

She has natural athletic ability. In her younger days she was a multiple sport athlete. When she got to college, she dropped everything but basketball.
    Sure she has tells but I don't think anyone in the W has figured that out. The defense in the W isn't very good. If she'd try I'm betting she could dunk. I've seen her jump a good 2' up.

    This avoiding using left hand on layups is something I see a lot in the WNBA - most players. I wonder why. I remember as a kid we worked on layups and our warm-up routine either before practice or before game started with layups on right and left. I wonder if girls don't work on left hand as much as kids. KM, a left hander, can and does use right hand well. Maybe left handers get more practice with right hand for obvious reasons.
    I was a big fan of Bobby Jones and he actually can use both right and left hand on short jumpers too. So, I've worked on shooting short jumpers left handed too.

      @@tonyleukering8832 it IS just a scouting video, nothing serious and all stuff she should work on. but to say her mechanics didn't improve at all is crazy. at the end of the day efficiency as a guard especially on that much volume is hard. and in college her TS% and efg% was high imo and at the very least proportionate to her volume. shes also very efficient specifically at the rim

    your break down is awesome! i just wanna bring up the muscle mass steph has compareed to CC. he SHOULLD be shooting at a better percentage biologically because if he didnt and they shot the same, she would be better than him just with that stat. her smaller muscles doing the same as his bigger muscles would make her better? but i hear you on the footwork. but if she got up to his percentages, it would make what shes doing with her body better in a way

    playing 3x3 basketball is the perfect way to improve on your individual defensive skills. Players only worrying about offensive stats are the it’s all about me, me, me, players. If you care about your teammates, fans and the success of the organization you would do everything to help the team succeed. Playing defense is just as important as playing offense, let’s not get it twisted, defense wins championships.

      You’re right it is. Offensively as well. When I was playing a lot of 1s, 2s and 3s when I was younger, that really improved my 5 on 5 game.
      More coaches should implement 3s and Under in practice.
      Great point.

    What I can't figure out! Is why does she have to be compared or play like anybody, other than herself! Just like Juju a sophomore in college, starting to be compared to other people! To me they're putting too much on her Young shoulders! Let them be who they are, not what someone thinks they should be!

      @@Mari2tone Welcome to basketball. Start playing as much as you possibly can. Watch as much as you can. Study the game from an analytical perspective as well and pray to Jesus to give you discernment on what information to consume.
      Write down your basketball goals. Write a preliminary plan on how you plan to reach those goals. Show your parents and ask them to put you in a league at the YMCA.

      2 years ago, I had the idea to make content around the 2023 High School class because when I saw Wagner, Edwards and some others, I was underwhelmed. I didnt want to jump the gun before I dove all the way back into basketball. When I went to a EYBL event in 2023 and saw the current players I make content, God told me it was time to go full throttle.
      I going to pray for your future channel's success. Thank you for subscribing.
