    Information about this live cam:
This live bird cam watches a bird feeding station located in an open grassy meadow, near the woods. During the daylight you will see a view of a platform bird feeder thats 7FT off the ground and can have sunflower seeds, cracked corn, peanuts, suet blocks and more on it. At night the view switches to a ground feeder with corn. The platform is made from wood and a mesh screen which allows for water drainage and helps keep the seeds fresh.
Here is a short list of some that have been seen. Cardinals, Blue Jays, Pileated Woodpecker, Downy Woodpeckers, Chickadee, Nuthatches, Finches, Robins, Sparrows, Juncos, Rabbits, Possum, Crows, Voles, Field Mice, Red Squirrels, Gray Squirrels, dogs on occasion (Murphy is a red Goldendoodle) and a whole lot more.
This is a Pan/Tilt/Zoom camera. Sometimes you will see an up close view and other times you may experience a view from further out. Thanks for watching!

I've consistently been feeding the blue jays shelled peanuts. I now have 25 to 30 that swoop in like air bombers when I put out a big soup bowl of peanuts. They're up to 1.5 bowls per day and more blue jays showing up daily. I'm almost afraid to think what would happen if I played this at the window. They're already lined up on many branches and roof tops waiting for their snack. lol Monitoring is necessary because of the squirrels.

I just discovered this video. We have some bluejays that were making this call. Now I know it is for food. I actually went in to get peanuts for it. I want to get a feeder and black oil sunflower seeds because apparently it is a favorite of many birds. We have a wide variety of birds here: woodpeckers, robins, cardinals, and ravens. We also have chicadees around here. I am learning their sounds too. It is amusing to watch the bluejays dive bomb their food.

I do too!! This brings in the morning peanut bluejay crowd, but now the squirrels have figured out it’s the breakfast bell so I have to keep them entertained with tossing some random peanuts out away from the ones I leave for the jays!

I come back to this recording and play it whenever I want the Blue Jays to come for some peanuts, and they come!

I don't know if this is a common bluejay behavior, but now that my husband and I have started feeding the bluejays near us, they have started showing up on our deck, calling us to come to feed them. They do it much earlier than I care to wake up, but I am amazed and excited they trust us enough to call to us.

The ones I've been feeding have started doing that too in the past month! One jay in particular will land in the trellis outside my living room window and look for me while warbling for a peanut. When it sees me move towards the door, it will fly over to perch above the door and lean upside down to greet me, and then as soon as I toss a peanut onto the walk, the jay flies down before it hits the ground. Sometimes it takes the peanut up into the tree, but sometimes it eats it where I can see. They're such smart, friendly birds with so much personality (and often sass). I've come to think of them as a little flock of porch cats with wings. 😂

I noticed blue jays love pine trees, i have a pine tree in my back yard and its always a magnet for blue jays. when i seen them at the state park as well, they were in fir trees. they must like the needles.

  • @ExtremePacifist

Blue jays are good mimics; they commonly impersonate Red-tailed and Red-shouldered Hawks, and Cooper’s Hawk and Broad-winged Hawk calls.
They do this to scare away other birds, or to warn other birds, or just because they have the ability to mimic other birds, they are like song bird parrots.

I didn't know they mimic other birds too, I thought only mockingbirds mimic other birds, thanks for sharing

I love blue jays 🥰💙,,,,, I see them year-round. Unlike the cedar waxwings, which I only see from June to August,,,,, once they've eaten all the berries off the tree, they're gone until next season.

Definitely not one of the most melodic birds. My dad complained about them being over aggressive and chasing other birds away.
    I guess they're colorful and that's nice .
