    That sure brings back memories, before I got paralyzed I worked at a tire shop (the family business) and I worked on one of those machines for 10 years! They are definitely not for aluminum wheels but I actually preferred the 4050A over the rim clamp machine we had (I think it was a 5060AX) for steel wheels, probably because I used it so much more, I literally changed thousands of tires on the 4050A! You should have shown the bead blaster and also how you can put different size shims to avoid having the bead breaker hit the wheel. Anyways, thanks for the video!

    brings back memories my dad used to one these things are beasts he had it for many years he owned a tire shop in mexicali him and his brother were some of the first people who had tire shops there thes things were awsome tough machines with less maintanance than the clamp ones to this day most tire shops there own the 40/40 and a clamp one

    Works fine with aluminum and mag wheels. Just make sure you break the beed twice, in two locations. (180 of each other) If you don't have the beed completely separated. It has a slim chance at bending the lip on aluminum rims. Apply tape to stop scratching. The only thing this machine has trouble with is powder coating.

    Hey Sergio Figueroa, if you mean it's surging then the main cylinder is low in oil and is getting air into it creating a dangerous situation by throwing the tire tool like a projectile. Mine was like that at when first bought from a salvage yard that used it like that busting their arms etc.

    Honestly I can't see the difference between that and the 40 40 does that machine have like a little trap door that opens up where you can put some tools inside it it's usually on the end of the machine

      The other comment about air in the hydraulic system makes sense; maybe it needs to be bled and purged of air, because that would cause it to not be able to get to working pressure without a spring effect where it builds up energy that gets all released at once when the tire bead breaks loose.

    What is the tire valve clock position ? Can it be important so not to rub it off by tire bead as tire worked on?

    • @liftittotheroof1876
      @liftittotheroof1876  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I always put the valve away from the bead breaker on top when machine is in motion taking off tire it won't hit it. Special care needs to be taken if you have tire sensor it would be challenging not to brake it with this machine I have never done a wheel with a sensor on this machine.

      If you put the sensor at about 5 o’clock as you’re looking at the machine the operation will clear the sensor and not push against it too badly. Yes you have to look at how the iron moves around the rim and pick a spot where it doesn’t interfere nor push the tire too badly underneath and lines up with the machines pins. I changed my 16” caravan tires regularly summer to winter and back no issues. Just did my sisters 18” snow tire to replace valve. Alloy wheels can be secured with an optional plate if the centre hole is fragile or decorative and plastic covers fitted to the iron. There’s a spacer that can be installed in the lower breaker for large diameter wheels for better clearance and the adjustment knob alters how much travel the breakers move for different sized wheels. Ie bigger wheels need more travel and smaller would get crushed too much. There’s a bottom spring and cone for these wheels and a collie for protection of other wheels that can be used.

      RAYLEGEND this machine is not the most delicate for aluminum wheel I would try to get a machine that has a swing arm for mounting and dismounting tires and install a plastic duck bill on it. If you check out my other video on the ranger machine you will see the swing arm style I'm talking about. There plenty of low cost Chinese made machine out the if you don't do a lot of tires that will work just fine.

      If you have to use this machine for aluminum wheels they make a plastic or teflon cover for the tire bar. I've done it but you have to be careful haha

    They say not to flip the tire around because theyres a reason it's waring bad. You have bad parts and flipping the tire around is ignoring the underlying problem.

    • @noelhenderson8095
      @noelhenderson8095 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did tyre fitting for almost 20 years the reason you do not flip a tyre around even though you can do it this because the steel belts get used to the tyre rotating one-way when you flip the tyre it rotates the opposite way which can cause the steel belts to break inside the tyre and cause a separation which basically means you will end up with a big bubble in the tread of your tire
