- Welcome to Broughton Hall, a magnificent Jacobean manor built in the 1600s, set within 28 acres of stunning grounds, and John’s family home.
Long before founding Phones4U, John had his sights set on this extraordinary property, and it’s easy to see why.
From the historic nun cemetery to the grandeur of the Great Hall (once home to sheep, cattle, goats, and plenty of smoke), Broughton Hall is a place steeped in history and charm, with countless unique features that make it truly special to John.
Join John for an exclusive tour of this remarkable home and discover the story behind it!

I worked as a labourer for my mom's partner for a summer back in the late 90's. We plastered the attic space at this house for John. I was a shaven-headed 16 year old, but John always took the time to say hello. 100+ sheets of plasterboard on my shoulders and up those stairs, and then bucket after bucket of mixed plaster for Andy to lay on. Good days. Set me in good stead.
My dads bothers wife’s son who had a mate that her husbands cousin supplied that plaster👍🏻💪🏼
What a lovely home, it's people like you that this country needs to look after our heritage. Thank you Mr Caudwell.
Wow. First of all you have a huge natural talent as a TV presenter. You are warmer, more natural and more entertaining than 99% of big name presenters. You could be doing big mainstream travel shows or documentaries, but you don't need to and probably don't want to. Secondly that train really needs to be a steam train! Thank you so much for doing this programme and tour of your beautiful historic home.
My aunty used to live round the corner at Charnes Hall, just on the back of your estate. Beautiful place. And Red shoes... wow, you've just brought childhood memories flooding back. I always thought that was something my father made up. We would always look out for old red socks in the window when passing by
I recall seeing you first on TV 30 odd years ago in this same house and thought you were a bit arrogant about your success. But how wrong I was. I next saw you on TV some years later in your I think fairly recently acquired phenomenal London home. You were single at the time, very normal, open and modest, and notwithstanding your immense wealth a bit lost and lonely. It was obvious to me you were a good person. My opinion changed completely. It revealed that rich or poor alike we all face challenges and encounter sadness. It is great the work you do for children and whilst there's no way I could afford the lifestyle you have I don't begrudge you it one bit. Keep up the good work and endeavour to stay happy.
What a nice chap.
And especially nice to see a wealthy man using his wealth to preserve an amazing bit of British history and heritage.
It's grand houses like this that make Britain so unique- thank God there's still people with the money and taste to keep them going!
Absolutely right. Without people like him they'd all be in ruins.
Very lucky to have an insight in to this home. Thanks for posting.
What a lovely video and tour, John. Amazing that you still have the sign from JDC cars in Stoke-on-Trent! I remember you pulling up onto our site with your first Rolls Royce and our time spent flight training with the Shropshire Aero Club back in the 1980's Now its time that flies! All the best.
That’s real class changing your own inner tubes on the bikes. As a billionaire he could have a bike mechanic do it but he is well grounded and thoroughly deserves all the success he has active in life! That is a beautiful home steeped in history and family memories! 😎
You’re easily impressed
agreed
I hear he taught himself to walk
@ I hear you taught yourself to walk
Must really tire out your tongue, rimming him like that…
Thanks John. You are a really kind hearted person.
I do enjoy driving past your place, it looks so pristine from the road , just a decent chap, brilliant clip
What a fantastic fantastic home and an even more amazing owner! so well deserved! Hope you enjoy every minute of it! Really like the nuns burial place, lovely to see them remembered. Could you still give a ford capri a new coat of paint? I think so very much! 😂Enjoy John! 👍
Fantastic modest well adjusted man. Knows how hard it is to get to the top and possibly how lucky he has been ?!
This is a beautiful interview with John D Caudwell, an ordinary, unordinary bloke. Good to get to know you sir !!!
Just shows with hard work and a little bit of a break how far u can go
Good too see someone actually acts quite normal despite the good fortune
What a nice fella😊 - rare!
Thank you Mr Caudill
You are an example of taking risks to achieve your ambitions.
Yet you are anchored by respect and not buying things just because others who have the same resources, but because they resonate with you.
I salute you
Loverly place and a great attitude to life, I hope you've been like this all your life.
Thanes for sharing a little of it. 👍🙂
Down to earth man! interesting oversight of the property.
Beautiful, and an absolute reflection of who you are. God bless.
Thank you John, great video and a stunning home…. appreciate you sharing..
Respect to you Mr Caudwell, Wonderful home, you worked hard and you made it, and look after your family. stay healthy!.
I came to Broughton Hall 20 odd years ago with my friends Margaret and Ken to deliver a highland bull called Tiny (he was huge). We met John’s PA (I think she was called Trudy) who let us have a peek inside the house. In one of the rooms was a massive trampoline which Trudy said was for John, not the kids…also had a chat with his gardener who told us all about the nuns etc. A shame John wasn’t there, he seems like a nice down to earth guy. I would have liked to have met him.
Lovely video John, keep them coming. Would love to see more of you London home, its amazing.
Please more on the histoy and preservation of such a distinct, historic hall. This channel can only grow.
Respect to Mr Caudwell. You made your millions through your own hard work but you seem to have kept you human side.
Great to see someone doing or has done so well for himself and be such a nice fellow thanks for sharing that with me
Seems a nice feller 👍
Great video! A great guy & so well done 👍
What a great place and such an enjoyable video. Have just become "Like" number 1000.
would love to see a tour of the inside of this beautiful house the grounds are stunning
Fantastic video John - great to see the history being appreciated and you're spot on with the Rolls Royce analogy! If we can ever have a look and chat about the cars with you, it woud be a pleasure :)
fantastic john well done mate ill have that honda when youve finished with it ok lol
Hats off for using your success to ensure the famous house is preserved for future generations. Cannot say the same for your incredible London pad which seems a contrast to this classic piece of historic preservation! I presume you have many other places so never get tired of one here or there!
nice to see a man enjoying the fruits of his labour
Even nicer to see Labour enjoying the fruits of his labour.
Thank you for this John, good video. Is there any chance of a similar video for your house in London?
One of the most down to earth wealthy souls and doesn’t go in for splurging on the generic nonsense , his toys and homes are the best 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you for giving us such an honest insight into your home, take care, best wishes
Wow looks fantastic , well done mate👍
Never heard of you before this. You've got bikes so that's a win from me. 😂
Would be a pleasure to meet you John. Wonderful video. Best wishes from the Cotswolds
Thanks for sharing John
Wonderful. Glad to see you looking so well.
Fabulous home! We do Country house and historic home videos and you certainly live in a magnificent one! 😊
Stunning home, cool man, thanks for sharing 🏴
Wow awesome place love the history .it' is well.looked after indeed
Excellent very well done John ,,
Very nice Honda firestorm always fancied one
Hi John, you wont remember me from the old days I bet. I was "RF" at BCA Measham, I believe that I gave you lifts a couple of times.
What a down to earth normal fella
Hello John, I so enjoyed the visit to your home - is it open for visitors, especially the gardens and railway?? I can only think that you have worked hard and done well to deserve this place you call "home"!
My mother was from Stoke. Always nice to hear the Potteries accent
Got some nice mechanical toys! Looks like he takes personal care of them and knows their workings instead of having someone else solely prepare them for him.
Kool, don’t understand the envy stuff at all. A strange & ill considered attitude in Life. Generally speaking people who have some success are not of that mind set and are devoted, hard working & far too busy getting on with Life. And some believe it’s easy, not the case, it’s a hard go. I instilled a strong Work Ethic in my kids and we now have a growing business in Dallas, a construction business in the Uk & more. Without being a sycophant, John comes over as a decent human being, who has worked very hard, I’m certain he wil have had some difficult challenges on his Journey. My old adage is this, “ Fortune can change tomorrow”. All the very best.
Excellent well done Sir
Will be getting a house like this in Scotland
Beautiful piece of history the house that is not John 😂 It really reminds me of Little Moreton Hall
most impressive thing is the bike mechanic work, its not as easy as it looks, it's a nice skill to have in the back pocket.
I want to see the inside.
money or not , you are a home grown top man .
Nice down to earth chap.
Brilliant 👏👏👏
What a beautiful life
What a wonderful home.
I'm interested to know the annual running cost (ballpark of course), with staff numbers and costs, particularly? I'm sure maintenance is significant, but that's specific to what I'd imagine is a Grade 1 property, so less interesting to me, personally, because I'd avoid such a high grade.
Anyway, even if you're understandably reluctant to disclose such details, I'm grateful for the viewing of your gorgeous home. I wish you continued health and contentment.
Am I jealous, just a bit, nice film
Respect !
I remember you from Eccleshall.
What a top bloke..
i so admire this man for the money hes made and hes success but what a bell end
Very interesting, you seem a nice soul John . Down to earth type . Take care you = me .
Are you still using Wallaces ?
I remember a neighbour many years ago who says he sold his Cobra replica to you at Stoneleigh car show, is this is correct donyou still have the car, burgundy cobra????
Fabulous….
Do you still have your london home from the series?
Just curious, how much is your heating bill?
Nice SP1
Saw this house on drew salvage Hunters
Seems a good guy considering his immense wealth. Great example of how to act.
WOW, what can I say about this guy?
👍👍
Different shirt for every shot 🤔
Would hate this place! Looks like a great big bloody night mare! Old, haunted, wouldn’t look out of place in a horror film!
I agree about the harley. When I worked on which bike magazine we treated the harleys differently. The are not motorcycles. they are harleys.
🍻
I’ve got a design for a tyre that works off-road and on road would you be interested?
One of my many inventions that I haven’t yet made
Well, changed my opinion of him. Used to get very bad press in our area, suspect from envideous people. Local boy done good.
👍
Worn out chain ? They’re expensive! Must avoid that..
Man's phone company kept robbing me via direct debit (small amounts) after contract ended.
We'll have a look over the house when its derelict like most become!!
I wonder why you haven’t been given a Knighthood or a peerage Cauldwell. Oh sorry everyone Knows🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm guessing that Billionaire Labour voter John doesn't need a heating allowance to fend off hypothermia during the winter.
Just needs a carousel to add to the train track….
It's a bit big
But the big question is does he have a carrousel...............
Show off
No need for the distracting tacky music. It's ridiculous. I'm here for information not music. Most older blokes like Harry Metcalf & Ian Tyrrel who make vids about vehicles, are far more sensible and mature than to do such a naff thing as add music.
Shame as otherwise it's an interesting video you made
Sponsoring his bragging on facebook. What a tax dodging sad human.
You're the bloke who's lectured us about climate change etc, but you have this huge pile, a helicopter etc. You even joked about having used supercars to jumpstart the helicopter. If you'll excuse the pun, you come across as an absolute chopper.
Must be nice to live somewhere that your kids don't get attacked. Probably affects your politics too
