If IL would allow the 30-30 win, they would say, you could only use it if you stand on one foot, and one hand behind your back, usinging your non dominate eye.
2 Points: The 400 Legend has just slightly more case taper than 350 Legend, which makes the 400 feed NOTICEABLY better than the 350 Legend in the Savage rifles. 2. The 215 grain Win Point Point load has been chronographing over 100 fps faster than the 2,250 on the box out of 20”barrel Savages. Not to slight the 350 Legend, but, IMHO, the above points are practical advantages over a .350.
From Michigan I drive 3 hours north and hunt public land. I do it to use my 30-06 and to give them the finger. How smart is it to have a guy on public land with a 30-06. I do however know the area I hunt very well. My grandparents lived two plots down for years that's where I spent a lot of time.
Good round (so far, at my range shoots)......ammo is scarce at best right now. If you find some, you better get you a few boxes. I love it, and you can feel the in between difference of the 350-400-450...I have it in Ruger, and on paper out to 150 yards, I'm shooting under 1 inch groups....But like I said, ammo is scarce, and no one is addressing it. Winchester is the only company making the round. Hopefully after this upcoming deer season, it's "reason", will gain some momentum. I have a 350 Legend (by default), I got rid of my 450 legend to my brother when I purchased the 400 legend. It's definitely not as "Jolting" as my 450 was, Yet it has a little more kick than my 350 legend. I will hunt with it this upcoming season, and hopefully be able to do a review on it.
It all comes back to social control . Confuse the issue, destroy the hunters enthusiasm to harvest game that is in conservation’s best interest. Marlin had the 444 Marlin out in the 1970’s awesome hunting round in their 444. Nothing new here.
I like the 400 Legend; unfortunately, I feel it will become more like the Legend of Big Foot; many people have heard of it, but only a few people have seen one. If it does not catch on, I hope the 41 Great Lakes does. The 350 Legend does not have enough punch.
_The Turkey's Opinion_ did a whole series on possible projectiles for .400 legend, in fact he was so early that he was using a preproduction upper and brass made from 6.5 Carcano cases! As I recall, he got the best results with the projectiles from .45 muzzleloader sabot rounds, but I think some of the beefier 10mm auto bullets did well too.
Ohio won’t allow a .30-30 Winchester bottle neck cartridge but will allow the straight walled cartridges that does the same with a 3 round limit…. Ridiculous….especially in the South East counties. You can use bottle necks across the river in W.Va. And Ky…..People love dumb regulations.
Seems like cartridge companies are trying to reinvent the caliber wheel.
They must create sales or die. Look what happened to Colt.

@@RandyWakeman Yeah you gotta save them pennies in IL, with all the tax hikes coming. Sure is a "swell" form of mob rule government over there.

I'm from Iowa we have the straight wall rules to I've had good luck with the power point for 450 bushmaster
Isn't it always about shot placement?
Yeah, and let's be honest, most hunters shouldn't be shooting past 150 yards in the first place 😅
I have a Henery 450 Bushmaster single shot and it rocks !!! There's a decent selection of ammo avaliable as well.
Something like the .360 Buckhammer. I would like to see more rifles and loads.

I know I am old but new cost effective new rifles do not have a soul no I do not want one.,
Your audio is very good. In fact, you sound like you’re in-doors.

There are only a handful of so-called straight wall states. Those states do not at all agree as to regs. In Iowa. you can use a .35 Whelen.
You say it was hot and humid at the beginning of the video, I'm in Louisiana, this is hot and humid. Hurry up winter.
Tuesday, it was 114 F. in Vegas-- I call that hot.
400 legend is a deal with winchester and savage. That's why winchester is the only ammo . You csn reload and load anything 10mm or 40 cal in them.

Nothing hits harder than sound logic!
400 Legend is a loser for reloaders.......no bullets!......360 Buckhammer best for reloading!

Where did you find the deer season xp??
Winchester.
Why you would go with anything but a 357 mag, 44 mag or a 45-70 is beyond me.
See: dnr.illinois.gov/content/dam/soi/en/web/dnr/hunting/documents/ilsingleshotrifle.pdf .
A full length forty five seventy case is not Legal southern part
Of michigan. So you have to cut down case.

More dumbass rules in Michigan n that makes little to no sense!!
We have plenty of those rules in Illinois.
