the Mamba is such a lovely unique design. It fits so well with cobra. I recently re-acquired one. Unfortunately, the rotors don't spin too well. good news though. I used your rubber band method and it works well now! Thanks for that tip! It really helped a ton! I agree about the landing gear or lack there of. a simple fold down wheel would have helped tremendously. I was super surprised that a modern figure does fit in all of the cockpits! Great review Buddy!
Kevin, I always enjoy your reviews, especially when you review a piece that I already own. You give me a different perspective, each time. In the Tom Hanks movie, Big. He had a Momba in his office up on a shelf. It shows up in a few frames.
I love the Mamba I remember my friend getting it as a kid so I actually got to play with it. Very cool I picked one up for 60 with the box and paper work and by themselves they usually sell around 30 to 35 dollars.
Awesome review, one of my all time favorite cobra vehicles, and it was one of the first I ever got. I still have mines but the blades broke cause of all the moving I have done, I do plan on trying to fix them.
I had the Mamba but didn't like it cause of the flaws Kevin mentioned. It always seemed to have missiles or pods falling off and the rotors stopped spinning soon after I got it. The driver though is nicely sculpted.
maybe my 2nd or 3rd fav vehicle out of the toy line. I love the color scheme..which on paper seem utterly ridiculous but fit cobra so well. Love the pilot, as his seemingly simple design plays well with the mamba. the reason i love this vehicle so much is that its cobra in a nutshell....overly aggressive design...slightly futuristic design...and no cares for pilot comfort or safety. Mambas were destruction incarnate. Gunships not meant to hold, defend, or transport....these were grim reapers with rotor blades.
Thanks for this terrific review. I never had a Mamba, but loved them in the comic, where they were usually depicted in all black. Seems like a really cool concept that was perhaps a little over engineered and too complicated for it own good. But interesting to hear about how the missiles and bombs create so many problems and these could very easily have been placed elsewhere.
Well if there's any upside to the plastic on GI Joe vehicles discoloring, I can tell you from experience that the purple on the Mamba becomes a dark grayish-purple when it discolors so it looks much darker and more intimidating than the original bright purple. The Mamba would have been a vehicle that would probably have been much-improved aesthetically by being reissued in Python Patrol colors; I would imagine that it would look great with the purple parts being colored maroon with the silver banding.
The Mamba was one of my favorite Cobra copters, but sadly it was toward the end of my collecting G.I. Joe days, and I always regretted it because I missed out on some really cool toys in the late 80's and 90's. Speaking of all those awesome toys I missed, Kevin do you have the Bugg, Hammerhead or the mobile command center?
@formbx257 what do you think about Hasbro not having any retail products for GIJOE in stores for at least 2 years. Or until they have a movie or cartoon series to go along with the toy line? I think the market is over saturated and Hasbro should take a break to increase demand. Thanks for all your GIJOE passion and wisdom. Love this channel!!

I had this vehicle as a child but didn't really appreciate it as much until I saw it used in the Marvel Comics run.
One of my favs. I always preferred cobra's vehicles. I had this and the night raven. Gosh I miss them! Great video!
I've always liked the design of the Cobra Mamba. Just about every vintage toy store I've been to, they usually have one boxed.

I love the mamba despite its flaws and color scheme. I think it adds muscle to the lacking Cobra Air Force!

I noticed the same cluster of Missile issue. I ended up putting the missiles on the underside of the pods.
I always liked the pods on the mamba.
I miss my mamba
you and me both; I made the mistake of selling it a a yard sale *sigh*

Please tell me I have no idea how the individual strands go around tapped make a circle on the chute
My fav vehicle. Any chance you are planning to review the Cobra B.U.G.G.?
I wonder how the pods are supposed to land. Maybe that's why the Gyro-Viper has a life preserver.
