  • Here is a slick way to see if your pool handrails and ladders are grounded. We had some major work done and a verification was needed.

Sir- That is NOT grounding. It is an potential bonding grid. Grounding and bonding are not the same thing. You absolutely should be testing neutral to earth voltage across the entire bonding grid as well as the water and all pool equipment. You could’ve disconnected all the wires that were hooked up under the concrete and you still would’ve had continuity because all the metal that you touched could have read continuity from contact with the water it’s self. That pool holds lots of human beings and should be tested by a licensed master electrician. No offense but you seem like the maintenance man that works for the property. I am hoping that the master electricians who bonded that equipment tested it properly

      Equipotential bonding.

I agree with all the comments grounding and bonding are two separate situations

i cringe every time i hear him say "ground". this is a complete waste of time. bonding and grounding are two very separate and very distinct tasks. this guy is "checking" the actual electricians. hilarious. they should check if he emptied the trash properly. read the heading "verification was needed" .

This is a terribly unsafe demonstration and a rudimentary understanding of the purpose behind NEC requirements for pool bonding and grounding. If used, this demonstration provides no proof of ground or bonding and will lead the home/business owner to believe their pool meets lawful requirements while no ground could actually be present. This video should be removed.

So instead of using continuity he should of tested the voltage across all the metal surfaces to make sure they all read the same?

What do you do if there is no hand rails on the pool

water is bonding...you have to show values. ..you proved nuthin

Is there any plastic pipe between the pump and the water fill? Shouldn't the pump be bonded directly ( maybe it is) into this circuit? Should this test have been performed at the pump as the beginning of your continuity test?

First ladder you said it was grounded...I thought it was for bounding?

You tested continuity, not resistance and certainly not the equipotential (bonding) of the pool, water, fixtures, and surrounding surfaces. Grounding and bonding are two separate issues and not synonymous. Look up testing "neutral to earth voltage (NEV) testing" and educate yourself. You wasted your time.

You have no idea what you are talking about, much less of what you are doing. Please take this video down.
