Lauretta, if I may ask. Why did you leave France finally? Are you done with schooling and you decided to return back home because you don't find the place so easy to live in or there's another reason. Could you please tell us please?

I lived in a small village in France, next to Nimes. I also spent a summer in Paris. I'm a "Black" American. In France to study French and do a research project for college, I lived with a French family. What I enjoyed most about my village was it turns out that I had a very good family, unlike some other students. What I also enjoyed was understanding what is a nation-state, or a country. Living in the U.S. for centuries, one doesn't learn much about the world. The state spends billions of dollars having you believe in things that aren't true. Living in a place once considered an empire, as was the U.S.A. provided me with insights that I would have never had otherwise. Let me get to the point: My first thought was to mention how beautiful you are to me. That hasn't changed. You are a very attractive young lady. Wishing you the best, Au revoir.
