Vert, very clever Matt. I don't know how much racing you are gonna get done once folk see all the trick bits on the Mini and the orders start coming in.
A fantastic show of fab and machining skills there! Only one point of note, the locking nuts on the tiltshift might move if going for a hard 3rd...if that happens maybe a LH/RH threaded bar - like those found on splitters supports - would come in handy.
Back in the day, we used to make a "short throw" shifter by shortening the lever. To help the gear engagement, a heavier knob. Some tried to mess with the linkage after the pivot point, but they never got to 2nd gear. A few went with heavier knob and stock/longer lever, they had problems with 2-3 shift going to 5th instead of 3rd, and dropping out of gear on every bump. Just the lever itself plays a big role on gear shifts.
That was another very cool video Matt. Not just seeing how flipping excellent you are at fabrication but also the way you presented the content. Like the no voice style when it is appropriate like this.
I enjoy watching your videos as well as Skidmore's Garage as you both show a greater level of fabrication skills than most of the shops from here in the States.
good to see work on the car going forward. Interesting new format with your postings, I like it. Hope to see more like this. Thanks for taking the time....
Looking forward to your mini winning the series on points! I can't see it winning a race because it's so over-engineered but I bet the bastard will never break down!
@@markwalton8644 a kilo equals a hp in a mini race car damn sure it will be easier to save a kilo than gain a hp and if it doesn't break it's to damn heavy and also it welded to floor so if it's wrong it will stay wrong
@@20kBOOSTED I think you're taking my comment to seriously. Matt does some beautiful work but I would've made that of Aluminium and bolted it, but its Matt's work, it's his car and I'm enjoying his fabrication skills!!
That looks a million times better than ever came out the BL factory lol quality bit of craftsmanship Matt, as always 👍 Sorry I've not commented much lately mate, I had a bloody heart attack, so have been recovering, back up and about now 👍
@@Urchfab Matt that's how I run mine, holes are elongated as I haven't adjustment in the rod to ensure it goes into 3rd and 4th cleanly. Top work mate 👍
I want to lift the shifter on my 206 track car but the cables run under the floor. I'd have to cut a huge hole and feed them through. I'm considering an offset shifter extension to move it close at the sacrifice of throw distance.
Hi, just for info, one of your videos is being shared on Facebook by someone, just to let you know, I came across by accident while scrolling videos, cheers Louis
There's always a weight limit in every category, and usually they shave off so much weight that they end up putting in weights to bring it back up to minimum weight, it just means Matt won't have to run so much ballast lol

Matt, Your fabrication skills are unbelievable.

Have fun setting up the rod and UJs. The couple I've done I've put the gearbox and shifter in third, seams to work best.

Love the level of fabrication on all your projects!
Cheers
A few years ago you said you were going to make a homemade metal folder. Would still love to see this project. Cheers Matt
Don’t need any words - your fabrication work speaks volumes just by its self. Awesome Matt. 👍👏🚙

Your a clever guy matt 👍 can't wait to see how the rods join up no long reaching for the wooden spoon 😀
Thanks 👍
Seven minutes of easy watching, feel good fabrication 😎
Always good to see you handle a good, weighty knob too.
Need words in your vids Matt! And longer vids
The shift tower was cool but that knurled handle (didn't want to say knob 😄) is awesome. Looking good.

You will. Cheers
Hi Matt, you should make some kits up and sell them! I’d put my name down for one 👍 great video as always..
Awesome short video .showing great lathe work 👏
Hi there, really like the looks of this internal shifter and I’m currently building a road/track car, would you ever sell these mounting brackets?

Got new bushes for that selector housing in stock if you need them!
Great video and incredible, top notch Fab work. Always inspiring to see what you dream up

Shit, sorry to hear that, hope your feeling better. Good to hear from you and make sure you look after yourself mate.
@@Urchfab aw thanks mate, means a lot that you replied, I'm getting there, a day at a time 👍
Nice work Matt, one thing, on the original base of the lever housing is a plate, which stops you engaging reverse..... you'll need to add one.....
I still have the original piece to go back in bud.

Beautiful work as always. Saw you sent DoubleBoost a turbocharger--Thanks! Look forward to seeing him turn it into a jet engine.
Top class!
Impressive skills as usual! 👌🏼

Very nice knob you’ve got there mate! 😅

Wondering how the rest of the linkage will look and work…
Urch couldn't find his long screwdriver. Had to use the short one. But got the job done!
Your videos are never dull
Very nice work it looks really cool, thanks for sharing
The master of metal👍
It looked like it wasn't just Matt in that video, he always welds in an air fed mask.
Excellent! Fab and tea first thing in the morning. What could be better?
I could think of a few things mate.
Mate your a genius.
I’m so impressed with everything you design and fabricate but I’m concerned about the weight of the car; it’s a good job you’re a slim chap

Looks very well made as per usual but that knob may be a bit hard on the hands even with gloves.
Good work there Matt love the video format
Just beautiful. 😊✔
Well produced video Matt, genius design, would a shorter stick equal quicker shifts?
Love it.looking good 😎👍👍👍👍👍👍
brilliant
You’re a frikin’ master. Nice👏
Good job!
enjoyed that one
Matt fanbloodytastic what else can be said 👍👨🏻🏭
Now how to get the guts inside to be more precise, mine is way too sloppy!
When will you putting this kit on ebay? 🙃
ALL GOOD
good job
Awesome 👍🏽👍🏻😀
Hi Matt, what would you charge to make another and ship to Australia please mate?
You’ve made a shitty mini gear shifter into a thing of beauty
👊👍
Welding with no gloves. I’ve learned, you will too hahah. But yeah, sweet build.
i think i would have made a nylon shift knob instead the aluminum one seems heavy enough that it would me moved around by the g-forces
quiet...
Not sure about the background semi porno sound track? But the fabrication work as usual.... LAG
The only soundtrack I could find was my old semi porno greatest hits album. Sorry
Quite apt that you're making an extended hard knob to porno music🤣
Your talents are wasted on TH-cam, you should have your own TV show 👌
