This is the prefectural finals in to decide which school will represent the Kyoto prefecture. #1 Ran Takahashi from Higashiyama (in red and blue) has been in his school's starting lineup since his 1st year. This is his third year, where his school finally went to nationals for the first time in 6 years where the went on to win nationals as well. He is since been receuited in Japan's National Team along with Otsuka Tatsunori, Rakunan's ace (best player) in 2019.

what's really nice is that higashiyama (the team that won) made its first ever nationals appearance thanks to this victory in 6 years (the team rakunan kept going to nationals), and then proceeded to win that nationals tournament so yeah, the coaches were elated to say the least

On top of that , all of their sets were won easily , the exception being the 2nd set against the #1 seed of the Spring Tournament (Matsumoto) , won 28-26 , during the Semi-Finals. Even the #4 seed (Higashi , who just won the 2021 Spring Tournament Winner) and the finalist got wrecked.
that camera angle is very nice, it slow down the action and make you able to follow every player movement. Every match should used this one instead of that flying camera that goes left and right stupidly fast at each serve and spike
My mind can't digest the fact that they were high schools students. And the fact that this level of play is just for district tournament. What more if it was for national? They Japanese boys having this skill set at that age are indeed so talented and athletic. I'll not complain if the locals call them monsters

Compare this to the setter at 21:02 who is not only concentrated on his team but also on his coach set him the same set, but look at the spiker's positioning. There is at least a metre in difference from where he should be hitting. That is why it is not the setter's concentration, but the spiker's error
these two teams make the finals for qualifying for nationals every year- they're powerhouses- also, the uniforms are similar, but have explicit differences- the closer team has a hint of red on the left shoulder whereas the far team has it on the right shoulder. you can also tell the difference with the libero's uniform
Yes they do, rakunan is one of the best volleyball high schools. They won the spring national championship last year too. After their 3rd year moves on to college, this year seems weaker than last year by a huge margin. Also props to, 东山, they're spectacular this year.
