The Atoll IN400 EVO has a large 1050VA transformer for the audio circuitry and a small 1.6VA transformer for the control logic. The power amplifier stage of the IN400 EVO appears to be similar to the AM400 Signature. The Naim NAP500 power amplifier uses a 1100VA transformer. The Attoll IN300 EVO has two 440VA transformers for the audio circuitry and a small 10VA transformer for the digital stage.
Had the pleasure of talking to Phil on the phone about four years ago , such a nice guy who was genuinely interested in questions. He’s definitely not a pushy salesman, to the point I wonder how he makes a living , but obviously this the key to his success . As for the amp if funding allows someone to be in the market , it does seem a lot of bang for your bucks . Because as Phil says you could easily spend a lot more and not get any better , but admittedly too most of us it’s still a lot of money . My whole system would probably be not much more in overall cost , but hay I’m very happy . And in the world of hifi that’s what really counts . Kind regards to all
Thank you for this introduction to and mini review of the 400 Evo. I’ve been an Atoll fan for some time now, having purchased an IN100 a few years ago. It doesn’t match the beauty and musicality of my single ended triode (SET) but it comes close and obviously has more power and dynamic range.
I just like and support British Hi Fi ,itsa Rega Atheos amplifier for me ,I love it and can drive anything and most of all sounds fabulous,I use the Rega Saturn MK3 cd player too ,driving an old pair of Ruark Accolade speakers, absolutely superb sounds with all genres too
Regas sole uk Compact Disc player is £2000 now in UK - Apparently they stoped producing their entry level model to preserve stocks of their remaining sort after DAC chips.
Impressive video, cheshireaudio. Looking forward to your next upload. I smashed the thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the fantastic work! Your insights on the design evolution of the Atoll IN 400 Evo compared to the 300 are fascinating. Considering the price difference, what specific audio experiences do you feel justify the upgrade for listeners?
Well, thanks for the video ! I am actually running an Atoll in300 with BW 702 S3 and a Chord Qutest with Qobuz. My nearby Hifi shop will shortly have 800 series from Bowers & Wilkins and already have the classic Atoll IN400. Hopefully, I’ll have a chance to listen to my system with the IN400 EVO soon. It is in my opinion a very good match with B&W loudspeakers. I will let you know. Thanks for your great videos and content, really appreciate your point of view. The french guy 😊
@ I don’t know about the IN200 « Evo » but it didn’t work for me with the IN200, the highs were too arsh and i had previously the monitor B&W CM6 S2 didn’t work either with the IN100 or IN200. IN300 is sounding quite different for those two. You have to have a listen if you can. And maybe the « Evo » version are different, i never listen to them.
Hi, At this moment I m having IN30 and B&W CM6 s2. I m looking to upgrade to IN300 and later in future to pair of 702. So my question is, considering your experience, does IN300 have enough power to run 702? Sometimes I like to play a bit loud so how does it behave? Thank you.
I like amplifiers like this No standard DAC No Phono stage I like the two outputs but my favorite would be one pre-out and one line-out Atoll makes nice amplifiers that fit two channel stereo perfectly
I've got IN200 signature with a P100 phono installed. I'd say it's slight step up from my Rega Elicit, which I was always happy with. Also switchable between mm/mc. I think it's a bargain and so much neater having it integrated. I run an LP12 with ortofon bronze.
@@andrewbrazier9664 I’m assuming that the question is specifically for someone who is already thinking about purchasing the NI300 and is posing the question in respect of the extra cost of the N1400, or already owns the NI300, the only way to determine if the extra cost is worth it would be to demo the NI400 as you have stated. Value for money is subjective
I dont trust this guys ears. It takes a good month of listening to really get to know a piece of gear, not a few days. Ive heard good things about Atoll, but from people with good ears

Atoll is super, with tonebalance IT will be perfekt for me. Even the cheap in80 i own Sounds great.

@@andrewbrazier9664 new Apollo on the way
Aethos is a stunning amp
Appreciate you covering this. I am a fan of Atoll.
I own the AM400 Signature, very very nice amp 😊 I think I would like the volume knobs of the IN200/300 more with this new design 🤔

I wonder if IN200 evo can drive my BW703 S3. TBH i think IN300 is stuck in the middle of the price range, either get IN200 or IN400 imo.

@@bez_maske IN300 has a lot of juice, just check the specification i don’t remember exactely, well I am under half the power at 85 to 80 dB.

So many stand alone steaming DACs available now.
I much like the dual preouts for 2 subs 😃
Love the video/review. Shall watch the next one too.
You're right in that there's no point for cassette, but listening to stuff recorded on an R2R is great, also good fun to play with.
Interested in 300 but the bar has just been raised me thinks demo after Xmas hope you can turn the display off thanks Phill
Im loving these Evo's because in France there's loads of in300's and in400se coming on to the market. 😊
Congratulations 😊
Nice discussion -- hope you review the CD100 EVO
Would be interesting to put head to head with a similar priced Accuphase amp.
Another great video. thumbs up everybody
Love it!
SBY ECO presumably means saving power when it's on standby
I've seen that Atoll do an fm radio do you sell/stock them Phil?
4:35 SBY ECO perhaps “Standby Ecological” power saving mode?
Have you ever tried YBA
Another corking video. Has anyone used the PH100 phono stage by Atoll?

What front end did you use for your listening session?
SBY ECO should be Standby Exo power mode
Double the price of the IN300.... is it worth it?
I would say no, otherwise it would be called the IN600 !
You'd need a comparison demo using the type of music you listen to & same or similar speakers to the one you own to decide that.

Should drive any speaker with it's big power supply. Not for me though! No lusting here!
