This dude clearly knows nothing about cold steel knives. People who don't appreciate simplicity and function get angry when they touch them. This is a really really great knife. One thing people don't talk about with lock back knives- You can open them in complete silence by holding the spring back. Only one of the strongest lock back systems ever created.. Yeah no big deal :( Do not listen to him. This is a very very good knife .

AUS 8 and AUS 8A are the same steel; AUS 8A just means "annealed' which just means that it was cooled differently after the heat treatment. They are both heat treated, as all steel blades must be in order to be suitable for use. The knife is made in Taiwan, which is one of three places where all Cold Steel knives are made. Spyderco make what most people consider to be their best and most premium models in Taiwan. Griv-Ex is Cold Steels branded version of grivory, which is a type of polymer, but not the same as glass filled nylon, although the properties are very similar. It's a very solid knife, and while it may be very light, it is also extremely durable. Cold Steel is known for producing knives that are both very light weight and easy to carry, but extremely durable and safe. The steel on this knife before 2019 was CTS-BD1. After 2019, the steel is AUS 10A, a premium non powdered steel, and it somewhat justifies the higher price tag, although I have had no trouble finding it online for 40-45 dollar price. I think for the unique design, the good steel, and the strongest lockup a folder can have in most peoples opinion, make the price totally fair. Just what I think.

I agree with you. The strength and quality plus the design justify cost. Most people underestimate this little street legal tool that should not be underestimated when in the right hands.

Thanks for the video. The design is a small folder version of their boot dagger knife and is mostly tactical for stabbing. Prices are cheaper now around $40. It does have their strong tri-ad lock and may need to be broken in a little. It is street legal length in my very strict city. I am on the fence still thinking to get it as a back up blade used only for the intended porpoise & when I am in places I am not able to carry my Espada XL.

Different steel is for the different lengths and old stock vs new stock. The shorter CP2 is 440C (not worth the price) and the AUS8 is old stock, then the normal and XL sizes come in CTS BD1 or AUS10A steel. Disappointing but BD1 at least is ok to me, just fine in my Byrd Raven 2.

I bought one back in 2011 when they were selling for like 35$. Personally I liked the knife. It worked very well for my job at work cutting open plastic bags and I always liked dagger style knives. No way I would pay over 40$ for one though. I think people liked the design so much that they raised the price. I lost my old one and wanted to buy another one but no way I'm paying that much money for a knife that takes forever to open. It's a really solid knife though. More of a personal preference thing than anything.

Higher price but it’s worth it
Super strong lock up is always important
      Steel is decent
Light easy to carry with an amazing clip
This knife is tough enough to save your life
Or just fine for everyday task too…also opens very very fast with that thumb stud always reliable every time,,,,

Well, "gas station" knife, "plasticy" handle, stiff lock...no thanks. I'll stick with my Cold Steel Crawford Model 1 EDC, which, though some may likewise call it a "gas station-looking" knife, it is 4116 Stainless, made in Taiean, has grippy "plastic" handles, and has an extra safety lock, making it a very solid, very sharp EDC.
