He retired in 2016. His first year of eligibility was 2022. We're in his third year of eligibility. It's going to be soon because his numbers are crazy good even taking into account the much more offense-friendly modern NFL he played in.
Hopefully releasing this online is a part of a PR push for his HOF spot. He deserves it. Panthers not letting him retire a panther and losing him for the 2015 run was pure incompetence.
WTF?? I thought Steve & Panthers org. hugged it out already & he was even doing some side-line reporting for Panthers. If Panthers owners are gonna be petty, Ravens org. would love for Agent #89 to retire a Raven. Once a Raven. Always a Raven. 💜🖤💜
The connection him and Jake Delhomme had was amazing. I own, now, only 2 Panther's Jerseys. My original Steve Smith Jersey and his Smith Sr one they released a couple years ago. The greatest Panther in history.
Fellow Saints fan here. I didn't get to really appreciate him until after he retired. He always killed us when we played them, so I kinda had to hate him. But now, revisiting his career highlights and his story, he's become one of my all-time favorite players. I'll be so happy to see him in the HOF. Tremendous respect!
Steve Smith Sr is a top 10-15 receiver of all time and the best Carolina Panthers Receiver too. Coming from a Saints fan. He is a dawg and best trash talker. Back it up too. He deserved to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton,Ohio. Ice up son.
We lost Anquan Boldin following our Super Bowl run in 2012, but the gods gave us Steve Smith. When he came to the Ravens, it was like well, we got another in a long line of dawgs on this team. His arrival plus the having Gary Kubiak as the offensive coordinator during 2014 was a treat to watch. (Thats why Flacco set career highs that year, plus we set a then-franchise record for points in a season) Steve Smith like Rod Woodson and many others before them may be remembered for playing longer in other teams' uniforms but when they don the purple and black, theres a special feeling.
As a kid from South Carolina when I fell in love with football and really got into I remember seeing Steve Smith’s first touch as a professional when he returned the opening kickoff and instantly became a fan. Tried emulate him in my lil league game the next week.
NC 90s baby here. I became a fan of his after seeing Super Bowl 38. I remember that certain Bojangles commercial that he was in with Jake Delhomme when he said at the end of it, "You complete me." 😂 It was funny, but looking back, that was one of the little things that confirmed their teammate relationship, and I love that 🥹🥹
Carolina letting him go was a HUGE mistake. Smith was the guy who never took no for an answer and found a way. Much respect for his ability to leave DBs befuddled
I was a huge Steve Smith Fan and hated it when my team had to play him because I knew I was going to see that Stiff arm and a TD behind it. Thank u Steve for all the great yrs and memories. Much love to u and ur family's future.
I remember that awful day & my heart hurt so badly for Steve. I kept wondering if he regretted coming to Baltimore to play for the Ravens. I know RavensFlock showered him with love & healing prayers during his rehab. We'll always love Agent 89! Once a Raven, Always a Raven. 💜🖤💜
In 2005 he basically carry the Panthers offensively and into the NFC title game. Everyone saw what happen when Seattle took him out. The Panthers lost since they had no one else offensively who could carry the load as they lost their 2nd best receiver Moose to the Bears.
As a fan from the UK my first memory of Steve Smith was his smack talk to the camera. I'd only just started watching NFL with my dad and always found it funny. He was so bloody good too.
and to think, 28:48, Joe Flacco is about to start for the Cleveland Browns on Sunday (December 3, 2023). Back to the topic at hand, Steve Smith Sr, really is a true competitor. A veritable individual and hard-fought and hard working athlete.
I was born and raised in Baltimore. I've been a Die Hard RAVENS fan since their inception. Steve Smith Sr. has been my favorite Ravens receiver since he got there and in team history.
Steve Smith deserves to be in the HOF. 8th all time in receiving yards, 9th in all purpose yards, 12th all time in receptions, one of only 4 players in the super bowl era to win the receiving triple crown.
An absolute dawg and a true work horse. I remember watching him live from when he did Thursday night football in Indianapolis before a colts game. I wasn’t even next to him and I was yet somewhat still intimidated. Dude wears a mean mug.
If an Alien came down to earth and asked me to show them a play that defined what heart in a human being is i would show them a Steve Smith smoke screen replay....They themselves probably couldn't believe someone of his size putting his hand thru someones chest and driving them into the ground He was not just a loud mouth with a chip on his shoulder hes a top 10 WR of the 2000s NO DOUBT!!! argue top 5
The way Jerry Jeudy been playing past couple of seasons I don’t think he will get one of these. All he can do is watch this video take notes from one of the greats. Not too late.
When people bring up Cam put his team on his back and never had help I correct that and say he had a HOF WR. Man was an amazing player and seems like a great dad and all around great guy. Love listening to his football takes now.
HOF...no doubt. If getting Mossed is a term, getting Smithed should be. His stiff arm was a gem and something like no other. His run protection...is unmatched. C'mon. Plus his personality and love for the game? Top notch. He's an ambassador for this league.
Hands down my favorite player ever, I HATE the front office for not making him a Panther for his whole career, they did him and Thomas Davis dirty after all they did for our team and the city ICE UP SON!!
He was my favorite football player as a little country boy from Roaring River, NC. He and Jake Delhomme were pretty much the guys I counted on to win the game for the Panthers. I watched them play through the fuzzy signal of an ordinary TV with old-fashioned bunny ear antennas. I can vouch for his fiery demeanor because I watched him be ejected from the 2005 NFC Championship against the Seahawks after contact with a referee during an argument over a penalty. All he did was tap him on the shoulder 😒 When they took him out, I knew we were not going to win that game, and we were not going to the Super Bowl that year. He is the main reason I'm a passionate native fan of Carolina Panthers. Watching this makes me shake my head in shame because of how great and feared we used to be compared to what we are today 😔 Where has the fighting spirit and competence gone??? 😭😭😭
Still upset he didn’t retire as a Panther. Best player in franchise history and we just dropped him like he was nothing. Damn shame. It hurt to see him in another uniform.
Steve Smith played so much bigger than his size. Hes the only wide receiver other Jerry Rice that i would describedl as "gritty". Keary Colbert: "Can i come over (for brownies). That was funny.
seriosly why isnt he a hof i am not even a ravens fan i follow the chargers and i always saw him play his heart out and his stats are up there with the greatest
Get this man already in the HOF he deserves it and plus being a true student of the game what a great scout he has become.
He won't be 1st ballot so he'll be waiting a bit but he should get in
@@BostonBori92Hes gonna be first ballot
@@WS-ul5fb I don't think so but I'd like that
Those years with Scam Newton cost him big time
He retired in 2016. His first year of eligibility was 2022. We're in his third year of eligibility.
It's going to be soon because his numbers are crazy good even taking into account the much more offense-friendly modern NFL he played in.
This dude epitomizes what it takes to succeed in life. Self belief, resilience and heart. My favorite football player ever
His roasting of Jerry Jeudy should have its own special place in the HOF.😂
JAG- Just a Guy 😂
Jeudy shoulda just stayed away. In fairness, the Donkeys O sucks, but then again, rise up. Agent 89 always did.
JAG
Seed seed, different home, chord is different. Its algebra vs geometry.
"He aint show up, I need to DOCK HIM PAY" is the most badass thing a reciver has ever said about a corner right next to "Ice up son"
Don't forget "mow my lawn' smh but uhhhhhhh

1,000%
Couldn't pay him go he will still be a panther at heart
Dude had some of the most heart of any player
Big props to the little man
Lol he always had a chip on his shoulder when I was a kid I'd play like him
The connection him and Jake Delhomme had was amazing. I own, now, only 2 Panther's Jerseys. My original Steve Smith Jersey and his Smith Sr one they released a couple years ago. The greatest Panther in history.
As a saints fan, dude is a hall of famer. Respect to this man on and off the field.

Used to watch A Football Life with my dad all the time. They always make me want to get on the field

Talk about big things come in small packages.
Steve Smith Jr. is a cretified baller!
Steve Smith inspired me not just in football but in life as well,
You cant measure heart.
A lot of respect for this man. He should do motivational speaking. Fascinating story.
"Size doesn't define greatness" = not ideal words to say on a first date
Underappreciated but epic comment 😂
May not be the biggest you've ever had but you gone walk next few days like it was. I quit school cause of recess, I don't play.
Carolina letting him go was a HUGE mistake. Smith was the guy who never took no for an answer and found a way. Much respect for his ability to leave DBs befuddled
The panthers are probably the 2nd worst franchise all time when it comes to this stuff😂😂😂
@@DopeyDetectorexplain
We would’ve had a better chance in the SB if he was still there. But Panthers always find a way to F up a good situation
He absolutely deserves the HOF!
Hall of Famer in my book!
30:48 brought tears to my eyes
Facts 😢
He was my favorite player of all time. Most tenacious, competitive biggest heart. He is a hall of famer!
One of the most competetive players ever.
He would pull you across the table playing spoons.
I love me some agent 89 true legend HOF fr fr thank you mr smith
Every aspiring WR should learn to play hard like Steve Smith. Absolute beast!
Steve Smith was that dude!!! Love watching his highlights!!!
I was a huge Steve Smith Fan and hated it when my team had to play him because I knew I was going to see that Stiff arm and a TD behind it. Thank u Steve for all the great yrs and memories. Much love to u and ur family's future.
He will forever be a Legendary Carolina Panther!!!! One of the greatest to ever hit BOA Stadium!!!

Once a Raven, Always a Raven. 💜🖤💜
The most physical wide receiver in nfl history. No WR broke more tackles by sheer brute force than Steve Smith.
Such an amazing example for all others to strive for
Steve will always be a HOF no matter what
Steve Smith is the perfect example of 'its not your size but the size of your fight'.
Heart over height! One of my all time favourite wr's,was a beast!Great catches, routes an absolutely playmaker. Deserves,to be in the Hall of fame.
A large percentage of the wide receivers in the HOF couldn't hold Steve's jockstrap. True story.
tim browns left leg is bigger than Steve Smiths CAREER 😂
@@genociderjillthere stats not much different
I'm da biggest Touchdown Timmy Brown fan but Smith was raw but not better den Tim
In 2005 he basically carry the Panthers offensively and into the NFC title game. Everyone saw what happen when Seattle took him out. The Panthers lost since they had no one else offensively who could carry the load as they lost their 2nd best receiver Moose to the Bears.

Steve smith puts hope in my heart and other aspiring future players that we too can make it to the nfl in spite of our size. True inspiration!
Glad Amon Ra St.Brown is in the league now, very similar play style
He’s like the Allen Iverson of the NFL. A straight dawg and beast whenever he was playing. HOF for sure !
Oh... 89 showed up for Practice. Never big timed the prep.
Iverson wasn't really a trash talker. Both Dawgs, when stepping on feild/court from 1st to last play though
and to think, 28:48, Joe Flacco is about to start for the Cleveland Browns on Sunday (December 3, 2023).

Steve invented "has that dawg in him"
I was born and raised in Baltimore. I've been a Die Hard RAVENS fan since their inception. Steve Smith Sr. has been my favorite Ravens receiver since he got there and in team history.
The stiff arm of Smith & Marshawn Lynch is UNMATCHED
Fav Raven receiver of all time! 😈
Steve Smith deserves to be in the HOF. 8th all time in receiving yards, 9th in all purpose yards, 12th all time in receptions, one of only 4 players in the super bowl era to win the receiving triple crown.
Agent 89 made my Carolina Panther years memorable for so many seasons. Thank you Smitty
He’s a man’s man and been married 23 years.
Retire 89 in Baltimore wish he got a ring
Me too. I wanted Ravens to get a SB ring for Smitty so bad.
I forgot who wear 89 right now 😂
An absolute dawg and a true work horse. I remember watching him live from when he did Thursday night football in Indianapolis before a colts game. I wasn’t even next to him and I was yet somewhat still intimidated. Dude wears a mean mug.

Steve Smith Sr will forever be my favorite wide receiver of all time
Those calves are generating too much power for his feet😂
Still trying to run and cut with a torn Achilles is wild
The way Jerry Jeudy been playing past couple of seasons I don’t think he will get one of these. All he can do is watch this video take notes from one of the greats. Not too late.
Agent 89 always played like he was in his prime fasho a DAWG
You hear the word dog a lot in today's game but Steve was without a doubt a real one.
When people bring up Cam put his team on his back and never had help I correct that and say he had a HOF WR. Man was an amazing player and seems like a great dad and all around great guy. Love listening to his football takes now.
Definitely deserves HOF
Its so unfair to steve that he was not 1st ballot HOF. If the voting was done by the players it would have been a done deal already.
Will always be a Raven in my eyes. Much love 89!
I'm definitely having my son watch this with me!
HOF...no doubt. If getting Mossed is a term, getting Smithed should be. His stiff arm was a gem and something like no other. His run protection...is unmatched. C'mon. Plus his personality and love for the game? Top notch. He's an ambassador for this league.
I truly do not know a human that does not like Steve smith.
the jukes where unreal, great story too!
Favorite WR for sure. A Dawg
Much love to this Carolina Panther cornerstone player in Steve Smith Sr.
Hands down my favorite player ever, I HATE the front office for not making him a Panther for his whole career, they did him and Thomas Davis dirty after all they did for our team and the city

His Panther days were especially fun to watch
SSS was a Beast!! It’s not how big you are, it’s how BIG U PLAY!!!! Loved watching thjs guy🤙🏾
My GOAT receiver hands down.
Why do I love watching "A Football Life" by NFL Films sooooo much???
I'm the same size as Steve. But, a Raiders fan. He should be in The Pro Football HOF. Guy's like him and Fred B. Just catch every ball, and run.
Put him in Megatrons body all of Jerry’s records are gone. Steve Smith deserved to be a first ballot HOF

Steve Smith is going to be a HOF’er for just his catch lines lmao. He’s going to be in Canton for being a WR! Guarantee!
No disrespect . To the nickname honey badger. Your the FIRST OG honey badger !!!!!!
Steve Smith Sr. was a beast definitely going to the HOF.
