this song was inspired by the feelings of understanding that it is sometimes better to let go of that person you've been trying so hard to make it work with, and moving on. in my personal experience, it's better to break off a "what could've been" sort of relationship based only on potential. potential has no real ability to become something if the work isn't put behind it. the purpose of this song is to connect with those people who've experienced those "potential only" relationships.
