I think for me, the biggest roadblock to enjoying Minecraft is seeing all the amazing things people have built and done in the game, and somewhat comparing myself and my gameplay to that. I know that there’s no reason to compare myself to these people who can build like Hermitcraft, or do redstone like SciCraft, or PvP like Lifesteal, but in wanting to aspire to those levels of achievement and professionalism, I can sometimes discount my own skills and specific talents I have. I know I am good at and definitely enjoy my talents for simpler functional buildings, or being really good at exploring and doing PvE things. Minecraft is about making the game what *you* want it to be, not trying to copy the hyper-edited 100 days in Hardcore videos where they build something that doesn’t even seem possible, and sometimes I get caught up in that. It’s something I’m always working on for sure, and I love the idea of making Minecraft my own game as nobody has ever played before. A great video as always! Loved the different style and it totally worked super well together haha. :)
You've expressed a desire to play Vanilla Minecraft, but for many long-time players who played the game back in 2009-2013, modern Minecraft often feels like a modded version rather than the "Vanilla Minecraft" we remember from the Notch era. Since Notch stepped down and Microsoft acquired Mojang, the game's direction has shifted significantly under Jens "Jeb" Bergensten and now Agnes Larsson. Many of us believe that version 1.6.4 was the last true representation of Vanilla Minecraft; everything since then has felt like a Microsoft-approved modpack built by Jeb and Agnes. Visually, the game has also strayed from its roots. Jasper "JAPPA" Boerstra's controversial revamp of the textures and art direction has blurred the original pixel art, resulting in flat, uniform textures that resemble a single color layered at 95% opacity over a blurred background. In contrast, the pre-JAPPA textures featured defined pixel art with clear distinctions. JAPPA's textures have never fit the intended feel of the game, more like a non-Vanilla texture pack imposed as the default. To recapture that classic feel, I use mods that restore the game's original elements. Classic terrain and cave generation is a must have, along with texture packs which bring back the old textures that JAPPA replaced. For new items introduced since JAPPA's hiring, I rely on texture packs that redraw those designs to match the style of the old ones. I also use mods to revert to the old combat system, remove mechanics like Hunger, and ensure food heals hearts again. Additionally, I have mods that reintroduce the iconic fog effect, allowing me to enjoy a version of Minecraft that truly resembles the "Vanilla" experience I cherish. These mods are more than just nostalgia; they are a crucial effort to transform modern Minecraft from feeling like a corporate-approved modpack back into the "authentic Vanilla Minecraft experience" that feels genuine and true to the original vision of what Minecraft was originally meant to be.
2:28 I would do a lot of things just to go back TU9 I want to say on the Xbox 360. One of my best memories was getting a childhood friend to play and playing on Xbox party chat when he thought a feather was a knife. The game keeps reminding me how simple things were back then with no responsibilities and enjoying the moment.
Just created a 1.7.3 world for the first time after watching this. Been meaning to give it a try for a while now. Just found the perfect place to build :)
I think you can still glean this kind of joy from the current versions. Simply put, Minecraft is built with three aspects in mind: Explore, Gather, Build. This is the core gameplay loop and it persists throughout most of Minecraft's history. So if you want to enjoy Minecraft more, stop worrying about all the newer content-- if it strikes your fancy to try it, go ahead, but remember that is merely a part of the explore aspect of the loop. You will have more fun discovering a village, a stronghold, a mineshaft, or even a trial chamber if you find it exploring and not explicitly looking for it. You will find more joy in finding a spot that gets your imagination going for its possibilities as a place to make your home. The deep caves and dungeons beg for exploration, so gear up and find out what's in there... The world is yours to do whatever you want, so let the wind take you where it may, and if you tire of your current home... Nothing stops you from packing up the essentials and setting out for greener pastures. Don't ever feel held down by where you set up your base, because otherwise you eliminate a good chunk of "explore" from your game and that harms the experience. Carve out a place of your own, make your mark on the world, explore, gather, build!
The video gets glitchy as some parts...Sorry I think I exported it wrong lol.
All good still a great video!

You are right Minecraft is one of the greatest sandbox games ever invented. I am glad it doesn’t have to be pigeonholed into playing a certain way.
