In Miss Universe, they compete to get to the next round. There are eliminations, first eliminations is TOP 20, if the country didn't make it to top 20, she will not be able to compete for the next round. Then the top 20 will also compete to get to the top 10, if the country didn't make it to top 10, she will be eliminated, then top 10 again will compete to get to the TOP 5, then the top 5 will compete for the TOP 3, then here, the final 3 contestants will compete to get the MISS UNIVERSE crown. If you are the winner, you will be the MISS UNIVERSE and if you are like the 2nd place from the winner, you are the 1ST RUNNER UP, then the third one is the 2ND RUNNER UP.
UNPLACED - means she didn't even make it to the Top 20, meaning, she was already eliminated in the first eliminations. #MabuFreakingHay
I don’t really like the motive of the one who recommended this video, with this UNplaced comments. It is so bias and made vanessa ang fernando in an awkward situation. Please to all who recommends video for reactions, recommends something that will uplift humanity as a whole., filipino cultures, filipino resiliency, traditions or maybe pilipino bloopers, and not to compare beutiful women as they are different in so many ways and beautiful in their own. ms universe is an international beauty pageant where there will be a chosen winner to be crowned & wear the sash “miss universe”. the winner is in 1st place. the 2nd placer is called the 1st runner-up, 3rd place is 2nd runner-up, & so on & so forth.
from all the 90+ candidates from around the world, the judges will chose the semi-finalists - top 20 or top 15. judging will be based not only on physical beauty but also personality, wit, intelligence, & how the girls carry themselves in swimsuit & long gown. there will be interviews both private & live. the organization favors a beautiful speaker over a beautiful model.
preliminary judging is to determine the semi-finalists. on the coronation night, which will determine the winner, the judges will narrow down the top 20 or 15 to top 10. then top 6 or 5. then top 3. in most cases, choosing the top 5 is the ultimate narrowing down.
unplaced is equivalent to non-placement, meaning the candidate did not make it to semi-finals.

Miss Universe competition consists of girls from different countries. Usually, 80-90 girls are competing yearly representing their countries. UNPLACED means she was not able to reach top 5 or top 10 during the competiton. Thailand and Philippines as shown in the video that you are reacting to are competing to each other from 2010 to 2019.P.s. Philippines is the powerhouse of beauty pageants together with Venezuela and the one to beat when it comes to number of placements and winners from big international pageants namely: Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss World and Miss Earth.
