While having your cats with you is nice and all, I'd much rather your unlocked Ranger pets be able to hang around in various appropriate biomes in the Homestead, even if there's no need to manually select them to come with you like in GW1 (which had them roam around the Zaishen Menagerie in the Battle Isles). Maybe even let you have a selection of your minis wandering around the place (both inside and out).
True, would be nice to expose my useless GW2 pets 😂

I like how you had to level each pet separately and could _store_ those pets in that zone if you needed something else, then you could simply go back and pick it back up, with it's level as it was. It made it a bit easier to get attached to specific pets (unless you were one of those that tamed and leveled them up quickly so you could just sell them for some gold).

with the portal they were talking about, you can leave your alt parks in the homestead, since you can just leave the homestead and return where you walked in the portal previously
You're not wrong, but most players probably won't be moving them back and forth because that just adds load screens. Log in, loot, log off takes ~15 seconds, with ~9 seconds being loading.

True, but having to load into character in homestead, load into farm area, load back into homestead makes 3 loading screens instead of 1 for the same action. Totally fine if you wish to do it, but most people farming won't bother.
@@MuklukTH-cam it depends on the buff you get for resting in your homestead. If it affects magic find, it could be worth the delay. But I only expects things like karma and exp4kills buffs...
I would love it if the homestead would allow us to consolidate all the portal scrolls we collected over the years.
Give us a portal station where we can throw all our portal scrolls and vip lounges into to be able to teleport everywhere easily without spending tons of inventory slots.

it's better if you can still see any of your alts in your homestead whether or not you left them there.
I am guessing/hoping that the Cooking Station (for characters that have obtained it) will also be unlocked in the homestead, effectively providing a homestead 'bank'
They better let us use all our beautiful dyes we've unlocked on our furniture! :)

I am a land developer and interior designer in Second Life as a very nice source of income. I will be buffing my homestead decorating skills to that level, good idea Mukluk.
Being the first to comment on the Muk, is just pure luk! :) I really hope for lots of vegetation to place, since the homestead does have vast open areas to "fill"
I think home instances can't have a bank/crafting station/mystic forge access. One issue Warlords of Draenor had for wow is that the world felt empty because everyone stayed in their home.
There still needs to be a thriving and necessary public hub zone.
The way I understood the answer, the door will only be in the overworld while you're not in your homestead yet. Like you place it, then you can wait for your party, people not in your party can ask to join etc and once you interact you all zone in like it is now.
Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I read it. So you still can't join late, it just gives you an option to let any random person join your party beforehand without having to announce that you're offering home instance clears.
3:30 i think you're misunderstanding that. it doesn't say anything about the door persisting in the world after entering the instance. this is likely: if i decide to generate my door, someone who's not in my party can request to enter BEFORE i enter.

It was previously mentioned that you can (only) place 1000 object in your homestead. Since EQ2 I know that's not enough. 😅
Although, you could resize them depending on your design. You may need to make sacrifices. For instance, making a city can be possible, but may sacrifice the quality of the build. Placing 10 big rectangle blocks with 4 "windows" already 50 items. Perhaps got to use one's creativity and practice to utilize all aspects in an effective way.
So.. Conjured Doorways may be added to the "haha you can't interact with that chest / object / npc anymore" trolls tool kit? I hope they are not too obnoxious and easy enough to work around. 😅

doubt it, it is door to instance, so only you and your party members will see it and can interact with it (i really hope that is the way)
That's not how they worded it, hence the concern! "Players who are not in a party can use the door to request a party invitation from the door owner."
Hopefully they had the trolls in mind when implementing it, because we all know that if it is possible to get 6+ conjured doorways on top of (for example) the last chest after Octovine, then that's what is going to happen constantly until they fix it 😏

Really hoping that we get some version of the Guild Hall decorations, specifically the holiday ones. I want pixelated clouds to hang from my ceiling! I also second the idea of having minis running around. I'd much rather see them then my other characters.
The problem with the homestead exiting for alts is if I want an alt character to be seen in the homestead who is also parking somewhere, that's multiple more loading screens per character.
I want a nice uptown Homestead in the Divinity's Reach, not some Bear shack on Yanthir Island.
You could use some assets to make to plausible :) although stuck in the wilds, making a city may take some time and I think there could be some limit with the assets. But still plausible to design a city. May take some creativity and practice. I do agree with your statement in a certain aspect that there could be different settings for the homestead like expanding to Cantha, Elona, Maguuma, etc.
I'm willing to wager that the homestead will have bank access via the crafting station much like other crafting stations. I could be wrong, but it would suck if not, and you had some needed mats in the bank rather than material storage.
Genshin Impact have a pretty robust housing system, for a gacha mobile game it's pretty impressive ⭐

I wonder if you can gather nodes in strangers homesteads, and if the nodes are then shared or unique in every homestead, if they are unique, the community could come together and open like 50 full instances of homesteads on a place, and people could go into all of them and gather all 50 times and get tons of stuff. It wasnt mentioned in the blog post if you can only gather your own nodes..
With the normal home instances, you can only gather each plant/node/whatever once a day. So that wouldn't be a thing in the homestead as well. Sorry to disappoint you 😅

I probably will leave a contingent of each class there because farming for 72 characters is not feasible to do every day anyways. Once you get over 30 alts the time spent farming gets a bit much.
Also helps I don't have anything I'm trying to make any more, except for this 2nd spear that's coming soon.

Probably doors will be visible only to people in your party, even if out of the instance.

Shouldn't the Order character joined during Personal Story should overwrite their armour class when it comes to deciding where they should spend their NPC hours in Homestead?
I have a Charr Elementalist (Fire Legion descendant) that decided being on the front lines conjuring flames are his thing. So he joined Vigil that something good can come from his evil past.
I have Sylvari Revenant that's one of those curious one (Cieran) so she joined Priory - she may not be the smartest amongst her peers but her sturdiness would definitely secure her a place on expeditions to more dangerous areas (especially in ruins where casting magic carelessly can be dangerous and detrimental to the whole point of studying ruins).
I have an Engineer that focused on developing elixirs and gadgets to help with recon and spy missions that Order of Whispers is so fond of. They are as far removed from nature loving, tree hugging (not the Pale Tree though) Ranger as you can imagine. They should not default to the same location in Homestead.
I kinda think doors will disaapear after the countdown. I also think houses will change very quiickly into very shiny areas XD
on paper, this seems like the best mmo housing system to date. FFXIV def does better in terms of neighborhoods
14:25 I'm a bit worried that instead of people coming in late because they are playing on a toaster that someone's just going to afk like those jumping puzzle afk commanders and let people knock on their portal door to let everyone in.
it would kind'a destroy what little community aspect there is with letting friends farm your home instance every day.
One thing I'm interested in knowing but hasn't been discussed as far as I've seen is whether you'll be able to farm oth the home instance and the homestead or if the nodes will be mutually exclusive like guild nodes of the same level are
I'm pretty sure they are the same nodes as you use the same items to unlock them. You can't farm different Home instances either on the same day

Muk, you can have them at the homestead, exit to the alt park farm, and come back to homestead, not a real loss of income, it may diminish a little, but far from a "too big of a loss"

Right, but that would be 3 loading screens per alt parked character. You can totally do that if you wish to tho.
The homestead sounds like it will work like the bastions, so you could park your alt somewhere, then port them into the homestead for "viewing", then just return to previous location when you log into them, right?

While homesteads are a nice addition, the price for this with them only adding a thing few but them wanted...dungeon raids...is disgusting. This game needs more of the most popular type of content, Heart of Thrones style and not more World of Warcraft shit or more insane high health open world/story content that started with End of Dragons. There is a reason why the very old HoT zones are still the most popular, same with strikes...we need more of that and its the one thing we are not getting.
Octovine is run 24/7.
Soto's metas are already hit or miss with zone chat always having some talking about how they wish they were done needing XP to unlock the xpacs shit so they can be done with the zones and go back to good content that is worth the time and reward. Seriously, Wizards tower almost takes longer than Chak AND Octovine combine (the time gating is the only thing making it take longer) and it has 1/5th the rewards on top of it and that is why HoT meta's will remain more popular.

Not sure why the hype for the housing, it is all decorative without any new functionality to gain loots, how often you go to your home instance or the guild hall?
We all play the games for loots and other experiences outside of them, it maybe fun for couple of weeks while it is new, then we all will be the same as before, just go in to loot the daily nodes.
They need to add more functions to the player housing for it long term success, they have to learn from Path of Exile latest Kingsmarch.
I really wish they would stop using the mastery system for every god damn thing. It makes absolutely no sense leveling your house or fishing by killing mobs. Here is your new raptor mount! Now train it to long-jump by killing 500 mobs!
I hear you but how would you suggest it be leveled? Here's your mount, now practice jumping 5000x until you unlock the long jump? Attempt to unlock arcane chests 100x until you succeed? Sounds boring.
@@broken_boomerang Housing progress can be tied to an npc that requests materials for expansion. Don't see WHY they would need to gate your house but w/e. Mounts can be upgraded via adventures designed for that mount. A series of adventures for raptor, springer, etc. Crafting furniture could have been done through the older crafting disciplines. Make them useful again. Armorsmith and weaponsmith can be combined to blacksmith for the purpose of furniture. Fishing could have been a disciple too. Fishing grants fishing exp. The discipline menu for fishing could have been used for a fishing log.
There are plenty of imaginative ways of doing it.
