No I didn't tune it first when I removed the baffles, I just had a K&N filter in it and it ran fine, It actually rev'd more freely. I did add a Factory Pro jet kit and a ignition timer to advance the timing by 4 degrees later on.
First drill out the rivets securing the muffler end caps so you can remove them. Then use a stepped drill bit to cut a series of 3/4 inch holes around the outside edge of the plate around the exhaust pipe. Cut the holes close together so that they join together as you go around because you are going to have to move the pipe back and forth until the weld that holds it to the inner baffle breaks, then pull it out.
They made a little bit of difference but not enough to please me, I ended up going with a Spiegler handlebar kit which made the riding position a lot more comfortable
Living in Halifax, originally from Corner Brook. I've also got a 95 ZX11, deep purple. Pretty much bone stock, Zero Gravity tinted stock shape replacement windscreen, about 36,000 kms.
I have a straight through aftermarket exhaust with the fiberglass packing. Way too loud. I just made a baffle for it out of a piece of stainless pipe. It's still louder than yours but I no longer need to wear earplugs. It doesn't hurt my ears so much now. 1991 zx11.
Once I had the pipe pulled out i just put the caps back on and used stainless screws to secure them. Beware though that the bike is going to quite a bit louder and I did not like the hum from them at cruising speed, it got pretty irritating. I actually got a couple of plates made and drilled a series of holes in them to get the sound I liked.
did the same with my exhaust, drilled out the rivets, pulled the caps off, small angle grinder and cut the plates off, put a bar inside the tube and snapped them off, put the caps back on, sounds great when you roll off throtle
Look at the '95 ZX 11D. Busa? Very similar huh... Appearance "yiz'... Very. Notice the frame too. They r keepers. Flashtune em... They'll dance dawg! 😄😄😃😃😃
+John Veitch Yeah it sounds awesome without the baffles. its deep and throaty sound is just like what you get from the performance exhausts. i wonder if there is any HP gain from removing them? and do you keep the baffles out all the time? The Performance exhaust upgrades are very tempting when it can gain some extra HP and shed up to 8 kilos off the bikes weight BUT i just love those big shiny original end cans too much to change them. they suit the ZZR 1100's looks perfectly and make it look bigger. i dunno about you but I've yet to see a performance exhaust that looks as good as the originals. i just put a deposit down on a mint low mileage 1994 ZZR 1100 D2 model and those spotless shiny exhausts are staying put but i may remove the baffles :D. thanks for making this video.
+John Veitch i've just seen your other video now. you drilled them out there not meant to come out easy lol. i'll have to try it in future but i hope it will get through an MOT check with those baffles like that??

have you tuned the carbs or just balanced them

Hi I own a zzr1100 d6 how do you remove the baffles, looking for the better sound
I know this is a very old video but did you have to rejet your carburetors after removing your baffles
How did you remove the baffles? I would be very interested to know
Did you have to change the cables or did everything fit ok

Best Regards for all bikers around the world
Damn, that's a beautiful bike! I'd love to own one but fuel injected has spoiled me to the point where I do not want a carbureted bike anymore.
Didn't have a clue what you were talking about until watching the video again, Classic, lol
Correct, where are you from
Красавец! Мечтаю купить!
muffler on kickstand side, awful. I got rid of mine. So annoying. Too heavy. Not needed.
No i didnt, you have to reroute a couple of cables and a longer stainless braided brake line is supplied with the kit.
did the same with my exhaust, drilled out the rivets, pulled the caps off, small angle grinder and cut the plates off, put a bar inside the tube and snapped them off, put the caps back on, sounds great when you roll off throtle
"I put the zero gravity (.. wait for it... wait for it.... ... wait for it.. ) touring windshield on there.. " lol
correct, you?
how did you pull the baffles?
By grabbing it with vice grips and moving it back and forth until it came out
Great bike

Do the risers make a big difference to the ride.
LSL bars are the way to go but risers make a difference as I have a 96 w risers but shortly installing LSL risers
Hermosa
Newfoundland accent?
Sheer KAWASAKI... ZZR1100 what legend... the empty cans should actually provide more power now that it's a free flow hey?
Small world, I'm up in the valley living in Kingston. Click on the link I have below the video to see what it looks like now.
I installed a Factory Pro jet, removed the pollution controls, installed a K&N air filter and a 4 degree ignition advance

Sounds awful. The stock sound beats all.
