mackarzdadon tbh dem days there I didn't really sit at home and listen to the sets on the radio. I was a teenager and kinda the only person with a mini disc player. So certain times I would jus press record then hit the roads if u get me lol weed girls an life I geuss. So sometimes I didn't even know what I had recorded until I chilled and listened to it or heard people talking about that mad set the other night!!!!
Ppl gonna ignore the fact that grime circuit never really managed to hold dances and events of this genre. All I recall it was always cancelled by feds, government fear, hyper yoots. Unlike it's junglist cousins, UK garage, hardcore, or even acid house, it was hard to step into a grime jam to get lifted off the ground.
Ur right there g, 9/10 purely grime nights got locked off n quick time! It was all about droppin da grime 10 mins into ya set n carry on droppin tune after tune 😂😂
I disagree with that, I was about dem days and there were a lot of raves. Grime didn't have a identity back then, it was Garage you just needed to know where look.
@@GarageGrimeHistory I'm sure there were 2 or few jams, but it was no way consistent as if you were in the period of acid house, early garage, hard core, jungle drum n base, these events were on a daily it was spoilt without fail. If 1 grime event got cancelled, I can assure you there would not be 10 other back up grime alternatives to go to. Feds hated anything emerging, new, black and urban. They assumed trouble, the shank carrying phenomenon was jus creeping in, planning for the EU migrants was on the horizon, the UK clubs were being loaned off to Russian mafias and you couldn't even club in the west end or central areas anymore. Raves are now in the ends, the hood or semi central parts of the hood.
I just know when I was younger I was pissed I couldn't go to their raves, I knew where things where happening. Not my endz, no whip, no money loool but yea this was a very short period like 99' to 03' maybe....
