I miss this area so much. I was born in SF in 1955, lived in the area and throughout CA until 1978. I come back yearly to visit family in Petaluma and crossing the Bridge is like renewing my soul. The sounds, smells, colors, sights fill my memories. I studied CA history as part of my History degree at Sac State and watching your videos is like a refresher and brings all the good feelings of the state that I loved. Thank you for well researched and filmed videos that let me come home when I’m so far away.

Great video. It brought up some great memories. I grew up on the Presidio from ‘71-‘79, and I remember walking around the bunkers on Baker beach when they were overgrown and in disrepair. The Nike sights still had missiles and Ft Point didn’t have a museum.

I was a little girl living in SF when Pearl Harbor happened. I can remember black out curtains on our windows. My dad worked for NCR and would get called out at night. You’d have to drive without headlights one way and you could use headlights the other.

Thank you for this history lesson Jeff & Sarah. I've visited both sites in the past, many moons ago, as I resided for 55 years in the Indian Cheif named town of Novato just 35 miles north of the GGB. They also have a small Pioneer Cemetery on Simmons Lane. The Olompali State Historic Park ranch outside of Novato has a lot of history related to it as well. It sits below Mt. Burdell where I used to mountain bike for hours. From a top the mountain, 360° views can be seen of the SF Bay Area.

Thank you for highlighting it for people who have not had a chance to see it. Hawk Hill is one of the most awe inspiring locations in the Bay Area.

I once took a tour around the Hanford Nuclear Reservation at Tri Cities Washington. It was very surprising to me to find out that there were gun sites all over the hills in that area to protect the making of Plutonium for the war effort. Just about the same as San Francisco bay. The U.S. Army had a Coastal Artillery command until after WW2 when it was disestablished. Army Air Defense inherited what was left. The sixteen inch guns were obtained by the army from the navy. The big guns were battleship guns. It was difficult too impossible to practice fire the guns due to the blast of the guns shattering glass windows in San Francisco.

While I do appreciate you making the effort to comment, you rushed to faulty judgment. That voice was done by a well-known professional narrator named Kevin Crocker, who I paid to narrate that particular video. That is the human voice, not an AI voice. I’m kind of disappointed in your response to an effort to be professional.

    • @FredericBonneauPhotography

You know what they say… if ain’t broken, don’t fix it. I should have known from previous video that you intended to hire a narrator but in my view your channel is known for your great voice. So why change. Also having his voice mixed with your wife voice and yours make it not fluent like a book that has too many different fonts. Just saying. And yes the narrator voice could have been easily construed as AI voice over.
