  • In this video I show you how to replace the front suspension on your 05-14 Mustang! I found that my wheel started shaking when driving at or above 60mph. Testing movement from the 3 and 9 o'clock position I found lots of play. Ball joints are a common failure point for this generation Mustang. I show you how to replace your front lower control arms, wheel hubs as well as outer tie rods. I also show you how to do a precise driveway alignment!

    For the bolt by the rack Just turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and it draws the boot far enough out of the way and remove the tie rod end This way you don't have to touch the rack

    You could have just turned your wheels to the left or right depending on the side you’re working on. Just fyi

      Thanks for the heads up! I believe the video is still processing. This is probably my largest video at 15gb, while it was unlisted it took almost 12 hours to get past 360p haha

    3 and 9 shaking is tie road, 12 and 6 shaking is hub

    For the control arm bolt where you had to unbolt the steering rack to make some room.. Could you just turn the steering wheel all the way to the right (for working on the left side) to move the inner tie rod to the right? That way the bolt head would be where the arm could be moved out of the way..
    I really don't want to mess with my steering rack/shaft, lol.

    • @JuryRigGarage
      @JuryRigGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can give it a shot but I doubt it will allow enough clearance. Unbolting the steering rack really isn't a lot of extra work

      @paulmorgan103 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I removed the tie rod ends which helped remove the bolt... however getting the new control arm on... that's tough

    • @michaelmcbride9831
      @michaelmcbride9831 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally gives enough clearance by turn wheel accordingly. It’s tight but the bolt will come out. And go back in! Just got though with control arms.

      For future people: Yes, you can turn the wheel all the way to the opposite side and get the front control arm bolts out, IF you first detach the outer tie rod ends from the knuckle. It's a bit of a squeeze past the boot, but very doable (at least on a 2005 GT). Good reason to go ahead and change the outer tie rod ends if they're worn! :)

    My wheel does the same thing on the right side and I have some super loud clunking noises.. would it be worth it to change the wheel hub too? Just to cover all the bases

    • @JuryRigGarage
      @JuryRigGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's worth it to replace them while you're at it. Usually the clunking is due to a bad ball joint.

    Are those the Detroit Axle control arms? If so, how did they hold up?

      I would stick with Moog or TRQ - I got mine from 1A Auto for a decent price.

    Man I can't believe how many similar problems we have with our mustang then I see you pulled out a new 21 mm wrench and had same damn problem I literally had every wrench but a 21 mm and I have several sockets sets to and I ve been replacing my entire front suspension and Ur tire moving that bad about same as mine and When it's that bad what happens is when for example you're lower ball joints go out and no grease and it's internal damage cause that side mustang to sag and as soon as 1 suspension part is bad ! Then it becomes a domino effect and the upper strut mount starts receiving more pressure and weight and it won't be imat the current alignment angle so driving a few hundred miles and then it's your sway bar bushings then Ur end links and the entire time the wheel hub is being put in different positions and even a few millimeters over time and add in extra weight and pressure which will create more heat on the part and Ur driving a mustang so you will more than likely be driving a little faster and aggressive then lets say a mini van! Lol !!I am no expert I didn't have a family member or friends helping me working on cars but I would just ask a few questions at a time by calling repair shops and explain problem and then have them tell me most likely parts causing problems and once I had called enough to use common sense and there most recommended problem and what they would do to fix it vaguely and most people more than willing to help because they understand what a pain in the ass replacing parts r with a very limited supply of tools first starting out working on ur own car is !! But I will tell you this I'll be damned if I going to pay 300 to 400% mark up on parts at AutoZone example and knowing eBay or rockauto is at least 25%to 50% cheaper than local parts supply stores and salvage yards r surprising not much cheaper I figured out that a fucking used part from a wrecked or junked car not worth 500 bucks will charge u basically 75%of the value of a brand new upgraded never been on a car rust dirt and oil free not to mention usually 150 ,000 miles at least!!i or it's been wrecked totaled!! So who knows what shape any parts in once u hit a concrete wall at 70 mph! Yeah I think that would potentially damage most every part in some way and salvage yards 😮salvage yards still changes charge 75% what AutoZone would for being new plus have to walk a mile to find it then take the fucking part off yourself and they can get away with it because most people don't compare the price difference like I do in such detail but money goes fucking fast and most people will think well i saved 30%on average;! If they knew about eBay probably cheaper and upgraded like my lower control arm basically same price as a junk yard!! Shit I apologize for writing so much I just get extremely upset with this system on parts and mechanics cost! My point originally is once 1st suspension part goes bad replace it asap or entire suspension is destroyed I know mine is!!

    I bought the same roush stage 2 suspension and am wondering what kind of front sway bar end links you got as well as where you got the brackets from.
