Some points to be noted:- 1. XUV 7OO has a full time AWD which can't be turned off manually, if it detects slippage it'll transfer power to rear axle, as mentioned. (Most of the time power is being channeled only to the front axle until it detects even the slightest loss of grip) 2. It's a FWD biased AWD system, (60%:40%) (Front:Rear). So the rear axle will get a maximum of 180Nms. Different type of AWD systems come with different configurations, sportscars are generally set up with a RWD biased AWD. 3. Still it is a proper full fledged 4×4 setup which excels off the road. 4. AWD system makes XUV 7OO heavier by 83Kgs, than it's FWD counterpart. 5. It is of great benefit and effectively translates all that torque on road, unlike with FWD variants which spins its wheels a bit too much (because of behemoth 450Nms)=power loss, cuts torque steer, better exit after cornering. Better launches 6. A FWD XUV 7OO would struggle and end up getting stuck over these kind of off road situations. 7. Mileage drops by around 1-2+/-Km/l (depending upon the terrain). 8. A good set of AT tyres will shoot up it's capabilities off the road, still not close to a Thar/ScorpioN. 9. AWD automatically de-activates post 80km/h. 10. It isn't equipped with a rear differential lock.
Simple fact, if you want to drive mostly on roads and the occasional offroading, go for 700 AWD, if your priority is just offroading and i mean proper offroading then go for a 4wd. But in 90 percent of scenarios, AWD will be more helpful for a layman.

@MotorOctane, Is the button being referred to as AWD activator in this video, not for enabling rear interwheel lock (rear differential lock)? The symbol on the button is the same that is used to indicate rear interwheel lock. AWD is an always ON system.
Though most AWD cars are front wheel biased, there are rear wheel biased AWD systems as well, especially in luxury cars where main power goes to rear wheel and some power to front wheel which is automatically adjusted based on need/slip/terrain. This is done by a differential. 4WD or 4x4 is a system where the power goes to one of the 2 sets of the wheel and both sets get it through mechanical selection using a transfer case at push of a button/gear. When it is selected it is usually fixed at 50%-50%.

Hi Rachit, it was a nice video. I posted one question in one of your previous video. The same I am repeating again. Now as you said in AWD torque is divided between front/real wheels in case of wheel spin or less traction in front wheels. Does it mean that over all acceleration of AWD is better than FWD. in case of FWD, as initially wheel spins or engine send less torque to front wheel to prevent wheel spin, ideally AWD should have better acceleration as whole torque is distributed.
"better" acceleration - if you mean no-slippage or tail spin, then AWD will do the job. If you mean the speed of acceleration then on ideal conditions, it would be the same ie:- would take the same time assuming no slippage (no loss) on the tarmac for the FWD. Hope my 2 cents helped.

But here issue is there is always wheel spin if one press full throttle due to its behemoth 450 NM torque. From stand still, only two wheels cant handle full 450 NM and utilise full torque for spinning the wheels, but on the contrary in case of AWD 40% torque will go to rear wheel, basically torque is distributed to all wheels, means a better percentage of 450 NM can be used by AWD compared to 2WD, even if not full 100%. I wanted to check from someone who has experience with both FWD and AWD to understand the real world behavior.

Mere pass AX7L diesel automatic hai noise todha aata hai but aapko kabhi pareshan nahi karega comfort ko leke... Sirf AWD me hi 10k me brake pads ja rahe meri 11k se jada chal ke ho gayi hai brake pads perfect hai ... I have grown to dislike the front more n more. Side view n rear are great however. Compared to road presence it sure lags a bit behind xuv500 and safari imo.

Hi Rachit , I saw multiple posts on social media regarding some noise coming from front shockers, brake pads wear out after 10k km, steering alignment issues.
Are there any such issues in the car ?
Mere pass AX7L diesel automatic hai noise todha aata hai but aapko kabhi pareshan nahi karega comfort ko leke...
Sirf AWD me hi 10k me brake pads ja rahe meri 11k se jada chal ke ho gayi hai brake pads perfect hai ...
Alignment issue hai mere isme bhi but suna hai ki Mahindra se solution aa chuka hai kuch kuch city me mai Nagpur se hu but filhal aaya koi solutions nahi aaya hai

@@fanboi3752 dekh bhai Mai 11k se upar chala chuka hu aur mere liye ye car Abhi bhi ek dream car jaisi hi hai problem kuch bhi nahi hai car me alignment ka issue solved hona Chalu ho gaya hai aur noise aata ye pata hai mujhe but kabhi chalate time mujhe yaad hi nahi raha ya kabhi samjh me nahi aata baki tumhari icha
