    The querks you describe are 100% related to the rolex calibre. I know its a Tudor, but just looking at the movement clearly shows a rolex calibre. Also the backwards spinning of the crown to Pop it out is typical rolex.
    In my humble opinion, Tudor today is what rolex should be: accurate and reliable. Good Choice, a bb58 is also on my List

      Hey Daniel, that’s cool to know appreciate you adding that. I’m glad it’s ‘normal’

      Now my bb58's crown was the same, AD sent it to Tudor, they said it wasn't right and fixed it along with doing a partial service under warranty cover

    Great review! Got my BB58 about 6 weeks ago. I'd been on the waiting list at Goldsmiths for about 5 months. I was told a year waiting list but luckily got one sooner as a few ahead of me had declined on that occasion. I'm in love with it. Just got back from 10 days in Greece where I wore it day in, day out. In the pool, in the sea, comfortable and perfectly sized. I hope you'll feel the same after a few weeks!

      Oh that is really cool, yep loving mine also. I was on a waiting list but declined a few months ago. After I saw that one with the misaligned bezel. But when I saw this one I just fell in love!

    Congratulations Sam! Very happy for you! This is a grail watch for me too. In terms of accuracy I can say that Tudors are fantastic. My Tudor 1926 has the same performances with an incredible 0.6 - 1.2 seconds per day.

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, I had sort of given up on having an ‘accurate’ (sub 2-5 seconds) mechanical but this one it performing really well! I think Tudor are really doing some good work here.

    Congratulations on getting your grail Sam! It's a very cool and good-looking watch. It slipped off my radar for the past few months but boy does it look cool. Can't wait for the full review and macro shots. Wear it in good health!

    Ditto. Like you, I'd been thinking about getting this watch ever since it first came out. Like you, I just got mine. Like you, I've been playing around with different Nato straps (I bought mine on the leather). Like yours, it's the most amazing timekeeper, more accurate than my Rolex.
    If your only other 'expensive' watch is the Speedmaster, then I'm reassured I made a good choice buying this Tudor, because you're clearly a man who thinks about watches and knows how to choose the best ones.
    Like you, I enjoy how this watch feels on the wrist, so light on a Nato you hardly know it's there. I bought mine to replace my Bremont U2, a great outdoor watch but I was finding it very large and heavy.

    I am happy to hear about the issue with pulling out the crown and adjusting the time. I immediately noticed it on mine and good to know it’s a quirk with the watch. I have a 7.5” wrist and still love the size!!

  • @stevenwymor1398

    Congratulations on your grail watch Sam. Wear it in good health. Clearly, that watch was meant for you. Isn’t there a slot in the lid of the box for documents? I like the diameter, but the lug length is too long for me. I think Strapcode make a Black Bay bracelet but not sure if it’s for the 58. The crown issue may be a phantom date position or I’m thinking that the stem isn’t the right length. I say this as someone who mods Seiko 7S26s to NH36s and I sometimes have to cut my own stems. If it’s too short or too long, I run into problems with interference with the date advancing when screwing in the crown because the stem is engaging the calendar works. Although I’d be surprised if Tudor used a threaded crown on a diver. On Seiko divers, the crown is permanently cinched to the stem, but maybe Tudors are threaded and it wasn’t the right length when assembled. Just a random thought. Hope you get an answer.

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, thats an interesting point. You would think their quality control would spot that but you could absolutely be right. No there is no slot on the lid for the cards, just underneath the false bottom thing. Weird I know!

    I can attest to the weird crown action. I own the BB58 and yes after unscrewing it you sometimes move the crown a little the other way before it pops to winding position. I, like you, assume it's normal.

    Just got my hands on by BB58 on a bracelet last week (after a 4 month wait), can't be more happy with it. Also got my second grail at the same time but keeping that on a low until i finish that video 😉. Great watch though bud 😀

      Yep I would have been all over the one with the bracelet if I could have got a hold of one. Good job on the Blue turtle you modded, I'm having a bit of a hard time with my turtle if you see my latest STOC video.

      @@CasualWatchReviews Thanks, if i'm honest not really any Seiko turtle in it bar the movement. Sorry to hear the issues you are having with Seiko, want to defend them but how many i have corrected over the years myself they can have issues. As for the Tudor bracelet, i highly recommend it 😉

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, I ended up selling this watch. Part of the reason is I was so annoyed about what I consider a bait and switch from Tudor on that metal bracelets. That Nato mine come on should have been a free extra strop that came with the metal one. Not its only strap

  • @jaredwolf9638
    @jaredwolf9638 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So I have this watch as well and it has become the most worn watch that I own. Question though - what is that strap you have on it? I have the bracelet which is great but I love the look of that NATO style strap. You mention a friend gave it to you - happen to have a link to it? Thanks

    Class. That is what best describes that watch. Class. Really looked good on the bracelet. Your review had the excited tone of a child at Xmas, and I don’t blame you. Got to say also, star among the cars, was that Mini traveller. “ a Shakespearean half timbered car” , as Dame Edna once said.

    Very nice. I assume you live in UK so did you declare it and have to pay import customs duty? I get my Rolex Explorer 214270 tomorrow and after that will be one of these BB58 without the metal strap as I think it's hideous with the rivets, and like you WatchGecko sell some really good straps.

      Hmmm ! Funnily enough i know someone who is in negotiating to buy a highend watch in the canary islands . They are in the EU ( freedom of movement and goods ) but it is a tax free island you pay local tax but not the dreaded 20 % vat . Is it this easy to save a lot of money ? And yes they know you are supposed to declare to customs on your return to the UK .
      The dilemma is does he risk not declaring or face the consequences if cought .

    Excellent watch - bracelets can be expensive. Its best to buy the watch with the bracelet which I learned the hard way. I understand your reasoning and your choices look good .

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Christian, yep if that had had the one with the bracelet there would have been no question about buying it. I have only seen this one and another for sale in a jewelry store and both had the fabric. Even the one I was on the list for, when that came in was fabric. They are still so hard to get hold of. I have two aftermarket ones on the way that I will be reviewing with the solid end links

      The Casual Watch Reviewer Have bought a lot of watches and is really weird - normally they are either accurate or they are not. Will be a pain taking it back but there is something slightly wrong so think you are right best to get it looked at. Hopefully will not take too long to get fixed- have heard stories of it taking up to 12 weeks.

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I’m being brutally honest with you I think its cheap of Tudor to provide this as a strap option. I wish I had of been able to get mine on a metal strap. This NATO should be an ‘included strap’ not the main one.

    Super acquisition! I love the size too. I have slightly smaller wrist and my Speedy CK2998 at 39.7mm is the perfect size. I haven’t owned a COSC watch before so I expect that your experience is part of the design of that watch. But when these first came out Tudor was having some problems with the date wheel slipping I believe. But I’m sure that they have rectified that by now. Great acquisition!

    StrapCode makes an oyster especially for this and its better than the stock for only $100

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Bobby, unfortunately I bought the strapcode and it’s honestly not better than the stock one. I made a follow up video on a Vanguard strap and talked about the strapcode one. If your thinking of getting the strapcode one, it’s just OK I would say. The clasp is very sharp and certainly irritated my wrist when wearing it, it also wore away the edges of the lugs ever so slightly.

    • @bobbycalifornia7193

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the strapcode one, you can see it on my Instagram and also in my last collection review. It’s ok but it’s far from excellent in my opinion. It has very sharp edges and it not well finished. It’s the only alternative we have unfortunately for the BB58 currently. I sold mine I was that disappointed with it. Just my opinion of course if you like it the thats cool. But I don’t want people to read the above and think that it really is as good as the stock one because it’s not quite there. This so unfortunate because I think Tudor are taking the piss with how much they are charging for it separately.

      charley I guess the part I forgot to include is the humongous price difference. $150 versus $3500. I’d love to spend money but I hate to waste money. The only thing I will ever have done to my watches is to add a battery if I have a quartz that needs it. Other than that they are all disposable. You get tired of that tutor and next thing you know you’re selling watches. No thanks. But unquestionably the quality Has to be at least 10 times better. But is it 20 times better? Not in my book.
