Saltatio Mortis (founded 2000) is a German band, the non-English parts are Old Norse if I remember that right (the info, not the actual language 😅).
The band name is latin for Dance of Death.
Their original material is usually in German but they have a few covers in English (like EC's Hypa Hypa).
Feuerschwanz is another band from that genre but usually more light hearted, sometimes comedic (they started as a parody band in 2004). Just like Saltatio Mortis, they have English cover songs besides German originals.
Alea der Bescheidene (Alea the Humble) the vocalist of Saltatio Mortis, was one of the guest singers on Feuerschwanz' cover of ManOwar's Warriors Of The World United and both the bagpipe players featured on the live version of Schildmaid (Shield Maiden).

Saltatio Mortis are one of my favourite bands and are all round nice people too. As someone else mentioned (and I think I did on a previous video), they did one of the cover versions of Hypa Hypa with Electric Callboy. It's my favourite of all the covers. Also, Alea is a big cosplayer and gamer, so check out their songs Pray to the Hunter and The Dragonborn Comes (with Lara Loft) which are both based on The Elder Scrolls. Thanks for the reaction!

A version of the song may have been in AC: Valhalla. The song is based on a poem written by Egill Skallagrímsson in the 9th century CE. The non-English part was Old Norse, the language in which the original poem was written.

Cant remember it being AC Valhalla.
But you are correct about Egil Skallagrimson. As far as I know it was popularised by the Vikings TV series

"Pray To The Hunter" is another great story video with a video game tie-in, like this one
"Spur des Lebens" (trace of life) is beautiful contrasting one - a song to an unborn child
and of course, their version of Hypa Hypa. 💛

Hey, nice reaction! If you like this direction of music, I have a few more ideas: Faun/Elyveitie - Gwydion; Eluveitie - Rebirth; Wardruna and Aurora - Helvegen (live). Feuerschwanz has been mentioned in other comments before... A special "viking" song would also be: Nanowar of Steel - Valhalleluja. Keep up the good reactions and have fun discovering what comes your way! Cheers

The non-English bit is the original Old Norse:
    Þat mælti mín móðir,
    at mér skyldi kaupa
    fley ok fagrar árar,
    fara á brott með víkingum,
    standa upp í stafni,
    stýra dýrum knerri,
    halda svá til hafnar
    höggva mann ok annan.
It is in chapter 40 of Egils Saga
    by Egill Skallagrimsson of Iceland
considered one of the fines poets in Old Norse.

      Alea, the lead singer.
learnt the Old Norse to sound authentic.

my favoritte songs from Saltatio Mortis are Brunhilde and Loki, but sadly they just have lyric videos, so i think they wont be good matirial for reaction videos. But if you want to listen to good songs for yourself, have fun :)

Let you know if they have some cool covers? Like Hypa Hypa by Electric Callboy? :)
I actually prefer their version to the original, and I LOVE the original. These guys have fantastic music videos.

Maybe the language was Gaelic? I know any European coastal people could be Viking, maybe Norse? I say Norse because I have a guy in Norway on here that I subscribe to that does all the viking living history and they even do the Norse celebrations and all the Norse gods stuff.
