@@astrobearmusic1977 Have you tried recreating the 909 Snare based on the schematics? There is a diode in the circuit that has an asymmetric waveshaping effect which is why you always see this DC Offset in the 909 waveform. This diode also creates the overtones. I have been able to get really close to an authentic 909 recreation but I was never able to get the right waveshaping effect.
Neat! I haven’t tried the 909 yet but it’s one of the topics I’ll hit eventually. I haven’t really tried modeling a diode wave shape before - I just use whatever distortion units I have available. But I do remember in uni learning about the diodes “avalanche” effect (dumping a bunch of charge when it reaches a threshold) that they often approximate with a little “bump” in the wave shaper. But this is not a “memoryless” effect so for an accurate recreation a wave shaper isn’t sufficient to my knowledge (but maybe close enough)
I’m going to do a video on Tape Hysterisis soon (another effect that is not memoryless, because the wave shaping depends on previous states) Maybe I could throw in some diode modeling in that video.
Very nicely done. I think I've done this with a ring mod in the past, but this is better. Thanks for taking the time to actually work it out from the schematic. I'd be very interested in the same video covering the 808 snare and clap if you find the time. I remember playing with gate delays and getting close to the clap some years back, but it wasn't quite right. No doubt the schematic would reveal the secrets.
This is dope ! I Recreate the patch inside of Voltage Modular and with some good tweaks it sounds amazing ! I wander if you could make this kind of tutorial for 909 cicuits as well ?
I'd be very interested! I've spent a long time trying to replicate 808 drums in synth patches but I don't really know how to interpret circuit schematics, so I've only been able to get so far.
Wow, nicely done! Thanks
So glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Incredible work!
Thanks, appreciate you!

I’ve got the kick and snare worked out today. Video should be uploaded tomorrow!
Nice! Hope you had a Merry Christmas!
Thanks, you too Kristian! I’ll get back to you soon about your message
@@astrobearmusic1977 Awesome, looking forward to it, brother.

Nice!
I just finished the 808 kick and snare drum which will upload tomorrow. I’ll get to the 909 after!
This is so good. Have you considered doing the same for other 808 circuits like the snare or rimshot?
If you are interested I would definitely consider doing the other 808 circuits!
