Thanks!! I live so close to the water and lucky that when I want fish for dinner, I just go get one which feeds my family! Thanks again for the comment!!
Great job mentioning the life jackets. I wear mine religiously. Great video. I fish the same area in my 420 HD Stryker inflatable. Maybe see you out there sometime. Cheers and tight lines.
Thanks for the comment! Funny I was just fishing in Campbell River and a local asked me why I was kayaking there given the strong currents in the water. He suggested I fish in Nanaimo instead..
That was you I saw out on the water, your kayak is super visible at distance. I was at Rocky Point, I hooked onto a massive Chinook and it broke off my 20lb leader. Hope to see more uploads.
Thanks for the inspiring video. I’m 6 months new to Nanoose bay and in the process of setting up my Aquaglide inflatable kayak for fishing. Hopefully I will be getting out soon to give it a try.
If you're using an inflatable and can't set up a Trolling rail, you can use a dispy diver! They go down about 60 to 80 feet where the coho are. Green spoons work like a hot damn!
I actually scared me lol. I was not expecting that. There is massive bait balls in the bay right now. Herring bubbling on the surface yesterday morning thanks for the support as always Jesse! See u out there!
I recently just got myself a fishing kayak, and im heading up to nanaimo next weekend, any suggestions for salmon trolling? Also whats a good depth to troll at?
Actually to our can drop a prawn trap in the area where I filmed this video. I fish off Rocky point at neck point park. Drop a trap around 1km off the point in 300 feet depth.
I have not from a kayak, I've just seen a number of prawn bouys set in that area. I also believe there is specific dates when traps can be set so check the DFO regs before heading out! Let me know how it goes!
instead of using a Scotty Gear Head for your downrigger check out Scotty 343 Locking Gunnel Track Mount, its got two t-bolts instead of the one that the gearhead has
Hey thank you for the tip! I just ordered one after reading your comment! Didn't even know they existed. I figure this will be a game changer, the single Scotty mount has a lot of give which gets annoying.
@@keep_on_fishing cheers, ya I ran to crappy tire to buy one the moment I hear about them. They sit flat and have alot more surface area in contact with the kayak too, much more stable, especially when cranking up the cannon ball.
Lived in Blaine during the Wuhan Flu. Never took advantage of the waters up there like this.. I wasted some valuable time.. very cool, man. Good call about Life Preservers..
Salmon are abundant here, they just increased the Chinook limit to 2 per day but I think still a slot limit of 10 for the season. A lot of the hatchery Chinook are from Washington! Thanks for the comment and yes, so many guys here on kayaks not wearing them. Just dumb in my opinion.
@@AaronSprague1 I fish on a boat as well with friends, kayak fishing is a different experience for sure. Different catching a salmon on a kayak vs boat!
@keeponfishing9189 Me too! It's the challenge, physicality and quiet experience that you don't get on a boat. Boats have their perks too don't get me wrong. It's just annoying to hear constantly that boats are better when they first off are incredibly expensive. There are fisheries where kayaks excel even better than boats too
Thanks for respecting the wild life and not taking more than you need
Way to set a great example 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Very nice! Makes me want to take the kayak out and give it a try sometime.
Awesome - great vid. Nanaimo is a beauty spot

@@DirtBagBikeclub hey thanks for the comment! Yes it's a hobie outback and probably the best investment I have ever made!

I have a spare kayak if u ever want to try! Ya Rocky point is hot right now!
@@keep_on_fishing Please and thank you, I will definitely take you up on that!

Right on bro!! Keep catching them salmon!
Thanks! They will be heading to the river mouth soon to spawn so I have to move up to french Creek soon to fish.
Rocky point is always a good place , had some Fun there many a day...
A flo. green and white Coyote spoon was Killer
Thanks for the tip! Yes Green and white seems to be the killer spoon pattern
Looks like fun, how fast do you think trolling at with your pedal power
I'm going at 2 to 2.5 kmh on the Hobie! Can be done on a paddle kayak as well with flat calm conditions.
i wish i wouldve met u when i kayak fished.
Oh why did you stop kayak fishing?
We've been hammering some huge 12 - 14 pound Coho this year.
Awesome video! That first fish jump by your kayak was insane! You should replay that in slow motion. How do you like the new mooching setup?
I actually scared me lol. I was not expecting that. There is massive bait balls in the bay right now. Herring bubbling on the surface yesterday morning thanks for the support as always Jesse! See u out there!
New mooching set up is an absolute game changer. Easy to bring in the fish and less losses!

Check out my trolling clip I uploaded yesterday! Troll in front of Rocky point (neck point park) 120 to 60 feet!
Can you recommend a good location to net for prawns. I have heard Five Fingers Island is a good location to catch for prawns . Thanks Trevor

Have you ever done this, netting for prawns ? If so were you successful ?

Going to be heading your way for some trout trolling!

No clicker!!!!!
Just get yourself a 14’ aluminum and enjoy your day by 10 fold.
I have both a 14' aluminum and a kayak I enjoy the kayak more when I am by my self.
Can't possibly compare
