This was 1986 a year after the Live Aid concert, this was also their last tour, finishing at Knebworth with over 125,000 crowd. A personal favourite of mine is Save Me live at Montreal or Fat Bottomed Girls live at The Bowl.
Queen lost popularity in the States during the 80's, but they always remained popular in the rest of the world. They are second best selling band of all time behind The Beatles. They remained popular until the end, Freddie died in 1991, and they had two number hits that same year, Innuendo and The Show Must Go On.
I disagree, Zepellin outsold every band apart from the Beatles, & although Abba beat them on album sales, & i really like Queen, they dont even come close to Zepellin for attendance records, 78,000 for a single concert, check the Guiness book of World records.
Definitely try Queens White Queen live at Hammersmith 75. This is their most amazing early love performance - iconic, powerful, but not what you’d expect!
I was lucky enough to go to a few of QUEEN's concerts, & I can say for myself, he was the best front man ever!!! He would do absolutely everything he could, to make sure the audience felt involved & enjoyed the performances!!! Great man, lost far too early :(
You're absolutely right, guys !!! Many people discover or rediscover Queen today...and how precursor and talented Queen & Freddie Mercury were...Iconic...👍👍👍
My brother got me hooked on Queen when I was 9 years old. I saw queen twice with Freddie, and once with Paul Rodgers. Queen used to tour religiously every year. When they did the video for “I want to break free” MTV wouldn’t play the video because they did it in drag. Freddie got mad and decided they would not tour America anymore and they didn’t. I wonder how many more times I would have seen them if Freddie hadn’t made that choice.
it was america that turned their back on Queen and they did'nt want to risk going and the next tour being a flop! roger said in an interview that middle america and mtv did'nt think it was 'rock' enough to see men dressed as women, so you were stuck with your horrendous hair rock from rubbish american bands, but now the yanks have decided they cant get enough of Queen, nobody rocks like the brits 👑✊🇬🇧
Yes, please more Queen! Love their 70' era, definitely White Queen live at Hammersmith, You take my breath away live at Hyde Park then the album version, Liar, Stone cold crazy live at the Rainbow. The album version of Death on two legs ( lyrics were so harsh Brian felt bad signing it) Freddie was a bit mad at their manager, it is deliciously venomous.
If you think about it freddie has been gone some 30 years ago and interest in queen still is getting bigger and bigger everyday and this will keep happening. Queen is timeless freddie is timeless. And the popularity will keep growing. THEY ARE TRUE LEGENDS. R.I.P FREDDIE WE MISS YOU
Hi beautifuls!! Lovely reaction, Freddie was a once in a lifetime performer. Please more Queen reactions. I suggest Who wants to live forever Live at Budapest. Thankyou
This was the second last gig - ever with Freddie Mercury. The last was in Knebwort London. 1986. ( In 1987 he got full blown AIDS- so he had probably some healt issues here. But who could tell? Roger said that Freddie was like a tower of energy. ❤️
Thanks for the Queen reaction. You do a very good show, so no wondering about the enormous number of subscribers. I would like to see you reacting to the show must go on. One of my all time favourite songswith a very nice compilation of earlier videos. You definitely WILL enjoy it.
Best ever male singer! People forgot some of his later performances he was suffering from AIDS ,and still song really well. Must have affected his entire body and well as his vocal cords. No?
Wow, nice! Caught a glimpse of Spike Edney as they were walking off stage. Freddie got tired of playing the piano all through the shows so they brought Spike on in '84, and he's still with them today. They had two shows scheduled at Wembley to end the '86 tour, but then they did one more at Knebworth (where someone forgot to push the record button...LOL), so this is the last recorded song if it was the Sat. night version. Thanks!!!
Stan & Brian, u guys are so funny! The "WTF ??looks' u give back & forth to each other when Freddie goes off on a high note is priceless. Something is happening to u both that happens to everyone that has watched Queen perform, it's everyone thinking OMG, is this for real? Why aren't all bands like them? They are each individually incredibly talented so when u put them together on a live stadium performamce, it's incredible how they work with each other as well. Brian u smile & keep to the beat with yr head, & Stan, u just look like u can't believe what is happening, like u both have been godsmacked! We all eventually get a case.of OFMD per a great YT video maker, Diana Smith, who admits to her Obsessive Freddie Mercury Disorder! I'll tell u what also... u will now find yourself comparing all other great bands to Queen & u will realize eventually that u will never enjoy performances by others anywhere close to yr obvious incredulity over the Queen performances Freddie, Brian, Roger & John all truly believed you have to be your best for their fans because "they paid good money to see us, so we owe it to them to be our best every time". They struggled for 5 yrs going nowhere & feel an obligation to their fans, it is so sweet & genuine. They have become the gold standard even more now that the 2018 movie has reintroduced them to 3 new generations. After that movie, they charted #1 for many weeks on the top of the charts & sold millions more albums in the year since. People like u that didn't grow up listening to them on Victrola desktop radios cannot believe how fabulous they are/were. It is such a joy to watch u & A few others doing these Reaction videos of Queen. We love Freddie so much & are thrilled to see Millenials etc. freaking out & losing their minds over their unique, practised musicianship together. Freddie & the band, they are, each one individually, & also together as a band...LEGENDS!!. I'm so happy to have found u on here & hope u continue listening to Queen ... u guys are the best of the reaction vids for sure. Luv, Sailor Suzie
Its amazing how good these complicated songs sounded so good live....maybe this is not the best example but what i mean is how full they sound with just a rather small band.
The fifth guy walking off the stage with them at the very end is Spike Edney. Freddie wanted someone to help with keyboard/piano live, 'cause he wanted to sing/perform. Spike started working w/them in 1984 and is still touring with them today!
My story of queen. Went to live and in 85 just cos I was given tickets. Went as a music fan. Left as a solid queen fan after that day. Blew everyone else away including the bands playing in the states. And we are talking big iconic names. You have to check out queen at live aid. Best live set of all time. You gotta do it if you havent already. Changed music history. From then on I was at wembley 86 and knebworth as well. The catalogue is huge some arent live but all are anthems. Queen fan from the uk. P.s. adam Lambert does a good job.
In 1985 Freddy's voice topped the world! In 1986 it was still mega, but maybe not as crisp as before. In 1987 Freddy's doctors officially told him he was suffering from an illness from which he would never recover. But that didn't stop Freddy belting out the 'The Miracle' in 1989 nor 'Innuendo' in 1991.
He's not just rocking on stage he also delivers the song in an authoritarian way , that's hes secret, kinda like a dictator at a rally... Perfect example is Radio GA GA live.
Freddie was diagnosed with nodules on his vocal cords in 1975, which made it painful for him to sing. He refused to have them removed for fear it would damage his singing voice. Unfortunately they eventually did that anyway, making it difficult for him to hit the higher range that was so easy for him at the beginning of his career.
this makes me so sad knowint the end of Freddy and he fought till the end I love your silence guys Hail to the King!!! And the Queen and Freddy are dead what memories thanks guys from the bottom of my heart!!!!
try an early Queen song, called You Take My Breath Away live at Hyde Park, 1976. not the studio version, although its good too. Queen is always better live.
Hey you hit the nail on the head about the weirdos/losers. Queen's *true* secret strength was that they were all misfits. And differently misfit each of them, yet together...
They got shut out of America when MTV banned their video for "I Want to Break Free" 1983...John's song, Roger's video concept. I don't think Freddie ever came back with the band. Their last live concert with Freddie was in Knebworth Park in August 1986.
y’all should totally try the studio version of ‘39 and/or ‘39 live at earls court (June 1977). both are amazing, although i would recommend listening to the studio recording first :)
The finally last one with Freddie was at Knebworth Park, August 9, 1986. Unfortunately it has not been officially recorded. You may only find some private bootleg material.
Ok guys, just a few more facts so u get the chronology of that performance of We Are The Champions. U are both absolutely correct that it refers to EVERY BODY not just the band. Many don't get that. These men give so much more to their audience than the recorded album versions of their songs. They discuss it on some videos, saying" it would be too boring to perform just as the record sounds, they paid for tickets so we owe them a PERFORMANCE". They all get lost in their art as Brian May has said. So, this version was at Wembley 1986, a year after their Live Aid performance at Wembley which Bob Geldorf did to raise $$ when Africa was starving. He got so many bands to do the show, each allotted only 20 min to be onstage. It went ok bands came on & played 20 min to a pleasant crowd. However, when Queen came on & performed at their level of obligation to their audience, the place went insane! U see how much they give, & they had no lighting, no special effects, no fancy stage, they just played their hearts out on their instruments & sang like xhampions! Freddie commanded that audience just by raising a hand or an arm to get them to repeat his vocal practice sounds & he touched even the ones all the way in the back. Brain's unique genius with his handmade guitar is the recognizable sound of Queen & why we know it's Queen when the first few notes begin. And Roger gets lost in his drum set, talks to himself while driving the music to fever pitch, & they all watch each other to see what signals Freddie is giving them as he changes this or that. They are the most cohesive band, able to turn on a dime to make their live shows exciting. Brian, u are correct, USA fans went off Queen. When they came out with the I WANT TO BREAK FREE video,, a comical dressed in drag, hilarious video poking fun at the times. Brian May as a bored housewife in a pink satin nightgown & poofy bunny slippers, Roger Taylor with blonde pigtails & makeup dressed like a little schoolgirl in a mini skirt, John Deacon as an elderly frightening grandma disapproving, & Mr Mercury as a busty tart in a skirt & sweater, high heels, wig, slutty earrings, vacuuming while singing about her desire to break free. The USA tv stations refused to play the video & Americans went off them, totally. It was ridiculous, especially because the "3 min promotional film" for BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY was the first video ever made & started MTV !!And they blamed "gay Freddie", when it was Roger's idea. Anyway, getting back to their 20 min allotted them at 1985 LIVE AID concert was their first performance together in awhile, having all been off on solo album endeavors, just taking a break from exhausting touring. The audience's appreciation of their Live Aid performance prompted Elton John & Paul McCartney & so many other bands that day to sheepishly agree Queen's performance was the hands down BEST of that show. In appreciation of their success & adolation from not just the fans but all the other bands caused them to book Wembly for a full on Queen concert the following year. Their album hit the charts again & they were ready to tour again. Oh, & did u know that EVERY member of the band wrote several of their most successful charted hit songs? They are amazing men, each in their own right. How about a review off their MADE IN HEAVEN album of TOO MUCH LOVE WILL KILL YOU written by Brian May, sung by Freddie... this one he really belts out, enjoy. I'll send u the link shortly.
@@TheBandSShowIf u guys & yr subscribers don't mind my lengthy posts, I'll continue with The Sailor Suzie Queen Chronicle, I hope I'm not posting too much & boring u? It's just that I've read every book about them TWICE but only by those who were true friends of Freddie or employees at Garden Lodge, his 23 room mansion in Kensington. Peter Freestone, Freddie's assistant who ran Garden Lodge & lived there, Jim Hutton, whom Freddie called his husband & lived there with him from about 1986 til he passed away, in their bed, Nov 24, 1991; & another great book written by Freddie's roadie/tour assistant Peter "Ratty" Hince... he's the guy, unseen, that grabs or hands off Freddie's microphone on a stick from him quickly, that he struts around with onstage. He sat out of site half under the piano at every performance & waited for hand signals & looks so he & Fred worked together on for fluidity when Freddie went off suddenly extending his performance, cause they were making the crowd go crazy. Ratty wrote that when they had a break for Brian or Roger solos or other interruptions, freeing Fred up for a few minutes, he'd go chade him & then sit on Ratty & laugh hysterically while he bounced up & down on him unable to move! Freddie loved to laugh & always tried to interact with the crew just to have them have a little fun. Not one of all his roadies or friends or anyone working for him, had a single harsh word about Freddie Mercury. He was so generous to everyone & would fill a plane with friends who couldn't afford it & fly them to countries so they could enjoy some of the parties & tour concerts. He'd pay for all their flights &. hotel bills as well. I think 1 thing that exemplifies his love for his friends is heartwarming.. I believe it was Freestone that said Freddie always carried a leather shoulder bag over his shoulder & he would always ask to make sure among his cigarettes, a comb & small mirror, he always had him confirm to him that his little "Birthday Book" was definitely in their as well. He never ever wanted to forgot anyone's birthday & always sent each person a card or gift when away on a tour! People don't know much about Freddie's real life. Jim Hutton talks about the silly rows they would have at home, & some of the crazy fun that Freddie would do just to make them laugh. He bought everyone Christmas presents & often cheques for generous sums. Ok, i must get back to my real life now!. I just picked up 11 bags of household supplies & groceries & have to unpack them all & wash each item before it goes in the fridge. Hey everyone,, STOP & THINK before buying food at fast food & regular reaturants take out!!! How can u know who prepared that food & if they were exposed to the virus they won't know for 14 days if they HAVE BEEN expoaed. You don't want to risk yr life for cheeseburger, do you? Please, please make a sandwich at home instead. Don't know how to cook? If u can Google "how to build a rocket", surely u can learn how to make a grilled cheese & heat up a can of tomato soup! Stay healthy, get smart!
Look at their video I Want to Break Free that's the one that MTV said they wouldn't play, so Freddie said he wouldn't never come back to America cuz we were too prudish said he wouldn't come back until they had another hit in America
Already suggested (and I too...) White Queen, save Me, It’s Late, Liar...there are so many more, but all I can say is , at this juncture, if you like this Band enough, you will find more!...Good hunting. See you soon!
Not to be a downer but I feel sad when I see all those people crowded together probably having the time of their lives and now no one can do that for we don't know how long. Curses on that virus. But thank heaven for all the video we have of Queen to help us through.
Unbelievable, that our beautiful Freddie has been gone for 30 years...keep going down the rabbit hole. Love, Peace and Joy ☮
I love Rogers backing vocals in this - fantastic as usual. He’s so much more than just an amazing drummer.
Yeah, he hit the high notes that Freddie couldn't because he was losing his voice after two huge concerts. Fabulous!
I don’t.
So it is.
No cell phones just full on unity with the band and the audience. Awesome. Bring back ROCK BANDS!
Nobody's voice beats Freddie's. He makes you believe every word he sings.
Please also do A Kind of Magic from the same concert (Live at Wembley)
Plant beats Freddie, even though they both have Charisma, Plant has a higher vocal range than Freddie.
@@francishughes542
No! Even Plant can't beat Freddie.
Freddie kept on fighting 'til the end. Queen, beautiful people who left us beautiful moments such as this.
The last song Freddie ever performed live. Gives me chills thinking about it.
no his last live performance was with Montserrat Caballe in 1988.

I grew up with Freddie’s songs. I love that Adam Lambert has been keeping Queen alive.

Positive. Messages. Even to Freddies last works, "golden boy" or "the Miracle" 🎶 all tell us so much about his love for life.

How about a review off their MADE IN HEAVEN album of TOO MUCH LOVE WILL KILL YOU written by Brian May, sung by Freddie... this one he really belts out, enjoy. I'll send u the link shortly.
You are killing it with these comments, Suzie!!! 😀👍🦄

How about "Radio GaGa"? It's said that this was the inspiration for Lady GaGa's moniker. Is that true or an urban legend?

Live aid, 1985, they stole the show, England had a new Queen for 20 minutes, but this was a year later !

Not to be a downer but I feel sad when I see all those people crowded together probably having the time of their lives and now no one can do that for we don't know how long. Curses on that virus. But thank heaven for all the video we have of Queen to help us through.
They did know to put on a show didn't they?
