      @@GenxGypsy1968 I know I'm way late to this, but I freeze water bottles to travel. I fly to Europe a couple times a year. I like having cold water to drink at my leisure without calling the FA all the time. I live in the south (US) and yes the ice has melted a little bit by the time I get to security, but I just drink the water before putting the bottle in the bin. I've never had an issue doing this. And I have nice cold water the entire flight.🙂 Edited to add: The TSA agents appreciate being informed that you have frozen bottles and they will tell the person monitoring the screen that there are frozen bottles coming through.

    I often freeze a bottle of Gatorade. As a very frequent flyer, almost always over seas, I’ve had many occasions where I got to my destination and it was an hour or more before we could get to food or drinks. After flying, you always need to hydrate, and I’m especially susceptible to dehydration, so Gatorade is even better than water for me. By the time we get there it’s thawed and ready to drink.

    I travel a lot on international and there are 2 other things that I always bring with me. The first one is a small box of soap sheets (sometimes the hard soaps are not clean or you do not like the smell and the liquid bottle of soap is empty), it's easy to carry because it is very small and you have a lot in a box. The second thing is a little bit of money that I store in a secret place in my backpack, because in some airports, the employees to you to help you with the luggages (and I have lots of luggages or heavy luggages), so when they help you, it's nice to have some tip change for them. Be sure to travel comfortable and practical.

    I always have ice in my Hydroflask bottle when I fly. So when I go through TSA my ice is “frozen” so it doesn’t count as water/liquid. Then I can fill up my bottle on the other side and have cold water (as I prefer it that way). You just have to make sure the ice is FROZEN and not melted when you go through security. I always drink it quick before I get to the belt to make sure it’s just ice.

    • @nici5451
      @nici5451 ปีที่แล้ว

      Liquid is 100 ml per item and the size of the bags depends on the airline and the destination. You can find it on their homepage.
      Edit: I meant the bags you carry, not the bags in which you put the liquid containers... I thought you were asking for both.

    • @R0swell5104
      @R0swell5104 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nici5451 Yes but importantly it must be that the containers are no larger than 100ml, not just the volume of liquid.
      The size of bag is not defined by the airline but internationally agree rules and enforced by whatever government agency undertakes airport security.
      It has to be a clear 1 litre resealable plastic bag regardless of your destination or airline

    • @nici5451
      @nici5451 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@R0swell5104 Well, I meant the bags you carry, I misunderstood your question. And I thought it's clear that you can't carry a bigger bottle and say there is only 100 ml in it, because they can't really measure it, although it may be clear sometimes 😉

    I'm traveling for the first time Solo in October to egypt. I'm scared to death about maneuvering around in the airports and making connecting flights and going through TSA. I've been watching your videos and they're very helpful. I have a quick question. When I first go through security what is the first thing the TSA agent will do? Will they first ask me for my ID before I even start putting anything in the bins? And also, is 2.5 hours enough time to make a connecting flight internationally? I'm traveling from New York JFK to Cairo Egypt with a connecting flight in Amman Jordan. Thanks!

    • @GenxGypsy1968
      @GenxGypsy1968  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Egypt sounds amazing!! When you get in the TSA line, the first Agent you will encounter is usually sitting or standing at a kiosk and they will want to look at your ID and boarding pass. Now some airports have instituted protocols where they just need to check your ID and that will give them all of the flight information. But plan on having both out and available to hand to the agent when you get to the kiosk. Once they have waved you through, that's when you will go to the conveyer belts with the bins to put your stuff in. As for your layover time, if everything goes relatively smoothly and normal, that should be plenty of time. Hope you have a fabulous trip, I'm a bit envious 😊

    Your lucky for not getting flagged for having your lipgloss not in your liquid bag. I did for my mascara and then TSA went through mine and my husband’s carryon and personal bags. Made me switch all our liquids to the bags they have at the airport and had to toss everything that wouldn’t fit.

    • @GenxGypsy1968
      @GenxGypsy1968  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh man, that's such a bummer! It's so random what TSA is going to let go through and what they don't. I do have TSA Precheck and I think sometimes they are a little less strict, but I know it also depends on the airport! Luckily I hardly ever use lipgloss anymore, and I'm sticking to a nice solid chapstick these days :)

    LUGGAGE TIPS 1, 2, 3, 4
    Tie three or four colored ribbons around the handle to your luggage to warn others that this is not their luggage. People grab luggage at the turnstile and take it home before you ever see it.
    Anywhere you put your bag, it could be grabbed in error. Example: overhead compartment, unloaded from the bus, at the hotel lobby, at the airport turnstile...
    These ribbons make your luggage different and EASY TO SPOT when the piece is surrounded by 35 other cases unloaded from the bus. Using 4 ribbons make it immediately different than other cases with 1 ribbon.
    Use 1” wide ribbons 14” long and not longer. Cut the ends at 45 degrees.
    Tie the ribbons as a sandwich, as if they were one ribbon. Use a man’s tie, a half Windsor knot for the best look. After it is tied on, the total length of the ribbons will be about 5 inches from the handle. This is too short to catch on anything such as rollers.
    Scissor cut trim the ribbons to cascading different lengths after they are tied. Put a drop of Super Glue at the end.
    If each ribbon is slightly a different length by 1/4” the color layers will all show up no matter how they drape.
    You can see these ribbons from 40 feet away.
    Perhaps tie TWO handles or RINGS top and side of the case.
    Tie using a HALF WINDSOR KNOT to the metal buckle ring of the handle.
    Learn Half Windsor knot tying:
    It is the 2nd example in this video
    th-cam.com/video/X0yh5rKB9lE/w-d-xo.html
    This knot does not loosen.
    Put your phone number on one ribbon using a fine point permanent Sharpie.
    Example: “Owner 454-333-7878”
    No personal name necessary.
    No address necessary on the ribbon.
    Choose one ribbon with an unusual pattern or fabric to really make it unique. The 4th ribbon could be black color.
    Stand by the output port of the turnstile to reduce the chance of someone else grabbing your piece.
    Tie your skiies, duffel bag, backpack and what ever else with matching ribbons-even your computer case.
    If you are a Travel Agent, you could hot gold stamp one ribbon with your name and phone number. Send them a set of ribbons, red and blue and BLACK to your customer as a gift. Record this gift in your database so you don’t duplicate yourself.
    Buy a gold hot embossing machine. Gold emboss your business name on the BLACK ribbon. Put the customer’s name on it if possible.
    Pleasant color combinations:
    Red, white and blue
    Chartreuse and purple and orange
    Orange and light blue
    Orange and yellow
    Gray and pink
    Green and yellow
    Red and Green
    Red and Gold
    Light blue and light green and white
    The 4th ribbon could be white, gray, black, tan
    Tip #2 Take a cell phone picture of the ribbon tied on. Then another picture of the full luggage piece. You now have a way to communicate “what it looks like” if someone is tasked with searching for it. Take this picture outside in direct sun not under neon lights.
    Tip #3 Place a strip of colored duct tape on the inside lining to your case. Put TWO pieces in DIFFERENT places such as INSIDE a pocket to the case. If you dare, put your phone number DIRECTLY ON THE FABRIC WITHOUT USING TAPE. Or, put your name and phone number on this tape. If all identity is stripped from your case, you have this to show. If someone steals it and rips off identity tags, you can show the police officer the inside tape...
    To be sneaky about the tape, put your phone number on the STICKY side of the tape. Nothing is on the surface side of this tape.
    Tip #4
    Put your phone number on a 2” x 1/2” piece of fabric or plastic sheet. Use colored Duct tape, such as black or red or neon, to tape this message to the top side of the handle. This message is under the tape hidden from view. The lettering does not touch the sticky part. Wrap it 2-3 times. Also include Tips 1,2,3 above. If you need to prove identity of the case, just unwrap it and show...
