I’ve just started a toile for this top and was flummoxed by the facing instructions so really pleased to find such a clear tutorial! Thank you. Feeling much more confident now.
Just finished my 1st Ethel top following your excellent tutorial. My fabric was a cotton lawn Dobbie with subtle self stripe. A bit hard to match up, but the plain colour helped. I do have some ramie in my stash (sorry Lander pants) --- Thanks so much.
I've made Ethel 3 times and stuffed up on the armhole facings each time - I get a way with it but I'm not happy with it. Your tutorial has sorted that out fantastically, thank you.
This is a really good sewalong - thank you. The final top looks good but utterly hugely oversized, and probably would drown my petite frame. I guess I could size down a couple of times and maybe trim some of the panels also. Hmm
Yes absolutely, you could size down. Please take a look at this pattern on Minerva, and you'll see lots of versions made by the sewing community to get a feel of how it fits/sizing on different body shapes and suzes. Thanks for watching 😊
i hate style arc, junk pattern that never fit and no instructions. biggest waste of money and time on any patterns ever. and i was dumb enough to try out 5 of them thinking each time it was just that pattern.
I'm a novice, but one of the first things you're taught is to check the measurements against your actual size, so that you can adjust the pattern before you start cutting. With ready-mades a size 12 is different in every shop you try, so I'm not sure why you seem surprised that this is necessary.
@@grannyparks@grannyparks way to comment on a comment from 5 months ago...? and then include in your response things that I never said... size 12? who is a size 12? also no brainer that you check your measurements....again that wasn't the problem it's thier sizing system as well as thier patterns themselves. so yes the patterns suck from style arc unless you are very average sized.... glad you needed clarification to a strangers problem on a cheap pattern, especially as a "novice" 🙄 I was simply letting others know my opinion as a non novice. I block pattern I was trying to use a pre made pattern such as this to save just a little time, however, for now the third time, I do not like style arcs patterns or sizing. glad you enjoy them enough to stand up for them to me a measly stranger, maybe you should go sew one right now instead of commenting? 😉 have a day! or 5 months or whatever ❤

What pattern is the white top you're wearing?
It would have been nice to see the finished shirt untucked.
Thanks for your feedback
Super cute
You don’t discuss sizing in this video. Is it one size for most? How do you select the correct size?
Love it ❤❤❤
Thanks for watching 😊
The underarm section had me fluxed!! Thank you
Lovely. Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
I seem to be not getting my correct size....
I was taught to always press the fabric before cutting out. Something sewers don't bother to do any more
Speak for yourself!!!

Well since you ask, I'm a size 12, not that it's relevant, it's just an example. 5 months?? Wow, your bad mood has lasted a long time😢
