I nvr hated anyone in the show like I hated those insignificant jerks that bullied Pen & thought so little of her. Loved that Colin finally ignored them like bunch of flies of the street😤🤬
I swear after seeing episode 1 of season 1 I was already frustrated why everyone thinks so little of her. She was such a beautiful soul, so polite and sweet to everyone.
I love this scene, because when he gets out of that carriage, his entire being, his body language, his face, shows that he is on a mission. There's one thing, and one thing only, occupying his mind: Penelope.
Honestly yeah like colin was already clearly not happy with them after a few scenes earlier and then they shit on mondrich’s bar knowing him and colin are friends. They were asking to be dropped with that behavior.
He always had an sweet spot in his heart for pen. But that that spot was for Penelope his friend not Penelope his soulmate. Which just changed recently in season 3 when he realized that pen has changed and have other priorities then him now. And her looking for a another man of marry just flipped a switch in him cause he never thought she would be interested in marrying someone and will be always besides him( which was a tiny but selfish but meh) If you look at the scene before the first kiss as pen was talking to another lord in wheelchair. Colin somehow felt jealous seeing pen getting close to another. And then lord debling happened he literally went to break of her engagement in front of hundreds of people cause he realized he couldn't let her go So yup that sums it up
Acting like he wasn’t in his feelings about her before the kiss. His worse crime is giving into peer pressure. He likely was embarrassed. Not because pen isn’t a great beauty or a perfectly sensible girl to court, but her family’s reputation isn’t good and everyone expects a bridgerton to chase a diamond and incomparable. Just because he was thoughtless (confirmed a bit drunk) and said something off to the rake gentlemen teasing him about pen, doesn’t mean he said it because he had no love in his heart. Just an insecure boy wanting to be treated like a man. In described audio they always share shy smiles, longing looks and seek each other out at balls. He did a ridiculous amount of things for her that is seen as impropriety: writes to her, whisks her away unchaperoned, dances with her more than once without ever writing in her dance card, taking her by the hand, touching her arm. He loves her and when he says you don’t count as a woman, you can even see an angle of it where he might just mean ‘you don’t count because I don’t ever want to fence you out of my life. You are an exception.’ He puts his foot in his mouth a lot. He’s still trying to be comfortable with himself.
@@surette2012 there is something comforting about seeking a familiar face out in the crowd but I feel like he was leading her on all this time or idk maybe being naive enough to not realize she was into him like cmon
He has known her for decades or more. He knows her deeply. The only thing left was the physical attraction and him noticing her qualities consciously (although he already knew). Besides it's a TV show- there are limited episodes and there is a lot of the plot still left to cover. It's hard to put everything in a few episodes straight from a book.

Enjoying the attention she gave him and knew the motive for her affection was a longing for more. We can personally put ourselves in his position as Monday quarterbacks and say ‘well, I’d notice her crush on me right away.’ But the writers and Luke have mentioned again and again that Colin is clueless. He’s not malicious and rubbing salt in the wound intentionally whenever he runs off to travel or thinks himself in love with Marina. I’m sure in part 2 she’ll say to him ‘I’ve loved you since the moment I met you’ or something to that effect and he’ll be like ‘omg!? Really?’ All happy like this is fresh ah news to him.😭 no offence to Colin, but he’s slow in the world of love. He needs to be gently pushed into it. The kiss was a big revelation and his confusing feelings about pen that he thought were just tender affections for a childhood friend was always something more. I’m sorry, he’s not a mind reader. Pen is a smart girl, but she also self sabotages. We have the benefit of seeing all sides of her as an audience and know why she’s upset. We get spoken dialogue from Marina confirming pen’s love. Colin doesn’t get the full context and I’m sure we’ve all had a friend who has had sad or vulnerable moments with us, we don’t assume they are in love with us. We know the reason she acts this way is because she’s lovelorn. Colin can assume a great many other reasons pen gives him these pained looks: her family struggles, her bullying, the scandals. Whenever she looks upset he’s always concerned and wants to help. Like…that’s pure cluelessness. If she wanted her affections known she’d know the steps to get Colin to understand. She knows him well, after all. Pen wants Colin to love her back, but subconsciously clearly didn’t want him knowing that.
I feel like they’ve rushed through Polin so fast and didn’t give them enough screen time Too many side plots which could’ve waited🙂🙂 Also maybe the bar was so high in season 2… Still like the show a lot
Yeah they could have agreed. Honestly season 2 was okay for me- not a fan of Kate or Anthony as a couple. They're both gorgeous, but not relatable. It's just the typical story of two attractive people falling for each other... Polin on the other hand are so different, refreshing and sweet. What I want a relationship to be like.
