Hey there! We were feeling a little sentimental over the weekend just gone so decided to collate a list of the games that make us feel nostalgic, and we think you might want to play them again this holiday season. Which is your favourite and which did we miss out...... apart from Journey, of course.
If we're talking about "nostalgia" I would've definitely gone a bit further back :) Many of these games are barely 5 years old! I'm thinking Fez, World of Goo, Braid, To The Moon or Limbo.
I agree. That's a good list of game but I would hardly say it would make me nostalgic. On my list , which is quite personal, I would have crypt of the necrodancer, invisible inc, mark of the ninja, la mulana, monaco...
Fantastic list / choices. My personal "never uninstall" indie playlist, in no particular order: - Hollow Knight - FTL - Into the Breach - Return of the Obra Dinn - Slay the Spire - Wildermyth - Inscryption - Papers Please - Hyper Light Drifter - Bastion, Transistor, Pyre - and Terraria or Factorio with friends and family. Edit: Outer Wilds is one of my favorite games of all time - it does everything that (only!) videogames as a medium can deliver, and does it in a spectacularly clever and captivating way.
A short Hike was played by all my adult friends... And we all conclude. Its just the most brilliant game ever! These are all great games. But A short hike is the one anybody can play and no one is left out. It's so rare. What a positive private/shared experience it turned out to be.
Great list, absolutely! Hades super suggested. I'd like to highly suggest: - Hollow Knight: my favourite metroidvania, so tough and rewarding. You better 112% it (me at 111%..) - Ori and the Blind Forest: one of the best metroidvania considering the story. - a tons of roguelikes, one for all: The Binding of Isaac: Repentance.
This Christmas, I'm gonna gift myself Outer Wilds on switch, I'm looking forward playing it ! I really like these videos that reminds you the game you no longer play but should revisit sometimes
Nice picks! Weird feeling having 3/4 year old games being called "classics", but time flies and the last few years have been strange, so.... 😅 Lately I'm leaning more to Moving Out instead Overcooked. Overcooked always feels a bit too intense (though the newer balance options do help) For recommendations, can't think of much from the top of my head, but would suggest the 3 titles from GrizzlyGames: SuperFlight, Islanders and ThroneFall. All of them good procedural time wasters, very simple but also very good
Just wanted to pop in and say your videos really inspired me to start my own channel. Good luck with the game dev side of things, but hope you continue to make content like this :)
A Short Hike - yes! One of my ALL TIME favourite games. Ever! Totally soul warming stuff like you said. I went back to it after they added the boating mechanic as an extra, and it just got even better which is kinda saying something. Talk about a magic recipe of game design. I can't wait to see what that dev releases in the future although it would be super intimidating to try and follow that I'd think?!
Oh! A GOAT indie list!? That´s unexpected. Really happy to have played all of this (sans Stardew Valley, I feel like my lizard brain would make me starve to keep at it). Shotout to Limited Run that´s making a physical copy of Chicory. And it looks pretty nice! :D
Roadwarden - very text heavy RPG more on the side of pen and paper. The Red Strings Club - science fiction cyberpunk bar-tending detective game Harold Hallbut - stop motion game where you explore an alien world Supergiant Games ofc Doki Doki Literature Club
I like this idea. Spiritfarer, is definitely on my list, as would Baba is You and of course Stardew. I’d also put What Remains of Edith Finch. That game always reminds me to cherish my family no matter our shortcomings. Children of Morta for sure. The Stanley Parable. Toem. Night in the Woods, Journey, The Pathless and Abzu.
Spiritfarer was one of my absolute favorite when it came out. Still haven't play the DLC of it yet. Hades is still a game I come back to every so often as well.

Fair comment. Arguably the wrong choice of words and content. It’s the worst performing video in 5+ years. Lesson leaned.

All of these are perfect! How did we miss Slay the Spire!
Solid top 10 list! I would also put Thank Goodness You're Here up there!
Damn that’s another great choice! Many thanks!

A Short Hike, to add to the other comments is a personal fave. To add to the list, I spent my most hours playing Slay the Spire!
Slay the Spire is delightfully addictive in a positive kind of way. Odd we left it off the list.
The moment untitled goose game came up, I thought to myself, "well, surely A Short Hike is going to be next?" and I was not disappointed! Good job!
This Christmas, I'm gonna gift myself Outer Wilds on switch, I'm looking forward playing it !

Thank you, that was the aim. Cheers!
It Takes Two is on my list to play this holiday season! Also Ooblets!
It takes two! Damn it that's another one to add to this list. Thank you!

Awesome! Thank you for letting me know. All the best for your channel too!
If you play just one game in your life, even including the ones not in your list, it should still be Outer Wilds. :)

Absolutely! Such a beautiful game and one we both play the and time again.
Wonderful list!!! Thanks for sharing!!! Long live indie games!!!
These games bring back so many good memories.
Some many good games on this list! Hades is an all time favorite of mine. I’ve played almost all these games, each one was great.
If you ever do a sorta old game recommendation, my favorite game ever is “eversion”. Not too popular but it had a weirdly massive impact on my life
I’m gonna go with Firewatch. Just love it
Damn it! This listed needed a “walking sim” and this was it.

Currently playing through the last faith, but this list makes me want to revisit one of my personal all time favorite indie metroidvanias, sundered.
Oh great call there on Sundered. So very underrated.
Honestly stunned when Cave Story was not on this list (La Mulana as well but thats a bit niche)
an awesome list indeed!
Glad you think so!
thanks for the video
Roadwarden - very text heavy RPG more on the side of pen and paper.
The Red Strings Club - science fiction cyberpunk bar-tending detective game
Harold Hallbut - stop motion game where you explore an alien world
Supergiant Games ofc
Doki Doki Literature Club

Journey is certainly missing as is Toem.
Don't do that, don't give me hope...
(showed baba is you for xbox)
Oh dear goodness me. I'm so, so sorry!
Spiritfarer was one of my absolute favorite when it came out.
Still haven't play the DLC of it yet.
