Spencer is a great character. I love how he is complex. He has navigated the weight of the world on his shoulders all while turning out to be a fine young man. He is a great representation of a black teen growing into a young man who honestly was a young adult early on his life which many of our cultures can identify with but it’s nice to see a black male experience truly explored in authentic and honest way truly displaying humanity. I also like how he makes mistakes but he is always coming from an honest place but is still a young man in a every sense of the word. Can’t wait for the rest of the season loving season 4 and crossing fingers for a season 5. Lord answer my prayer with same cast. Daniel has truly done a wonderful job carrying the show. Love him and Olivia AKA Samantha. Love relationship with his mom Grace and younger brother. Loved BF coop. Baker family those relationships are dope and have grown. JJ AkA Hunter he is a great character. Truly is a great show.
Honestly the only other female I liked Spencer with was Kia if he wasn’t with Olivia. It just felt like them as a couple were more **NSYNC than him and Layla even if the individual trauma was part of it. But I feel like their interest and personalities were more intertwined but we didn’t get to see that relationship fully explored. However, just the scene when the characters rekindled old flame and reminisced about first date while at skating ring and Kia helped him to see the importance of still making time with his younger brother showed me enough. But Olivia and Spencer are always end game let’s be clear lol. But I did like the friendship that was building between the two them Olivia and Kia.
