@@Jordan-dr3woI'd like to think that similar to Pikachu, Rayquaza breaks out of your pokeball whenever it fucking wants to in order to protect Earth :^)
I’m thinking the Deoxys in the meteor attacked because it viewed Rayquaza as the aggressor. Buried in the meteor that was suddenly smashed by an intimidating dragon, why wouldn’t Deoxys assume it was under attack?
That’s kinda of like crashing a car (the meteor) into someone’s house (the earth) and being surprised they don’t have a positive reaction and considering Deoxys is described as a mutated virus maybe meteors are how they spread.
@dirtyrat886 Meteors could also just be how they travel, as the Deoxys that have landed on Earth kind of just sit there (as seen in the Gen 3 events). And considering that they use Psychic powers to manipulate the meteor they are staying in, chances are that Deoxys could have just stopped or greatly slowed the meteor before impact to not planet wipe its new planet. Birth Island from the old games could have very well been made from the meteor that Deoxys came on, and notably the Sevii Islands that are not too far away are still completely intact. Of course, the humans and Rayquaza, not knowing what a Deoxys is, wouldn't let a potentially life-wiping meteor get that close to find out.
@@dirtyrat886 Not if someone tries to explode your car before it hits the house. It was trapped in a meteor and it couldn't be clearer. Deoxys drew the line between Pokemon "from space" (Solrock/Lunatone, Clefairy & Minior) and "Actual Freaking Space-Aliens!" Pokemon (Elgyem/Beheeyem & the Ultra Beasts)
Rayquaza having beef with absolutely everything/anything that even approaches it's domain (aka. ozone layer) is such a fun concept, also really puts into perspective how insane his senses are that he can sense something approaching all the way from space
I had a little plastic figure of this thing as a kid. I thought it was really cool, but until this day I didn't even know what it was. To be honest, I completely forgot it existed until I saw the thumbnail.
You can argue in both cases Rayquaza is the aggressor as in the Delta Episode Deoxys is freed because of Rayquaza destroying the meteor it's using as a ship. Had Rayquaza not started attacking immediately, Destiny Deoxys may have not occured with the scientists freeing the other one. While Deoxys appear mostly passive when left to themselves, if provoked one will quickly find they are combat ready beyond most Pokemon.
It's a 6 months old video but have to say it. Deoxys might be the most terryfying being in this universe, even considering godly being we have. Creepy appearance aside, there's just something horryfing about the idea of a virus possessing phychic powers. Or viral colony? This is some bio weapon level of existence. Deoxys is something else on the biological level and generation show it amazing with this moment with it's side blown off. It doesn't look like an organic wound. It's more like manufactured body made out of... something. It just regrows it's body. Considering it's phychic powers - it forces it's own body to just... Grow. And the black color? Yeah, this might be it's weakspot all things considered. This "thing" knows it's own limitations and by god, that's scary. It know it's body on molecular level. Now tell me it isn't something that make your skin crawl. It isn't just a being - it's... Not even life in our sense of existence...
Perhaps the laser beam could have come from Ultra Space, maybe meaning Deoxys could be a sort of proto-Ultra Beast. Maybe when Necrozma was originally drained of it’s light by the people living in Ultra Space the energy/radiation emitted by it could have been the thing to cause the mutation.
That note about the meteor in Delta Episode made me realize that there is a lot of similaritied between Deoxys and Chrono Trigger's Lavos. Makes me wonder if the big guy has some biological failsafe for if it fails to make contact with a planet similar to a Deoxys-like mutation.
The laser beam thing came into being with rayquaza in Mystery Dungeon, where it’s role is to protect earth’s atmosphere from external stuff, so it’s laser is what interacted with rayquaza’s laser Interestingly to note is that Deoxys’ shiny colours VAGUELY have similar color hues to rayquaza’s main colours of green and yellow, so that’s always interesting to think about
I saw Destiny Deoxys first and when I saw the anime, I was super confused as to why Deoxys suddenly went bald 😐 It was his defense form, never shown in the movie
It's amazing that there could be an entire other planet and Deoxys is just a traveling God that is looking for another planet to have the natives of his own inhabit. It implies that there's a bunch of alien pokemon on an alien world.
it is interesting to think that the "Laser Beam" may have been a Hyper Beam from Rayquaza. and it mutated to adapt to the new threat, becoming a "Pokémon". i love the idea, the concept, of "you create your own worst enemy"
I hate that I missed these distribution events back in the day.(being a kid and all) I will say it did make this Pokémon feel more mysterious. You hear about it from some kid at school and that’s all you knew about it until a movie or you happened to hear about the distribution event. I wish there was a little more fanfare with the newer releases.
I remember the hype around Deoxys when I was a kid, and how frustrated I was that there was no way to catch it without attending special events. I also remember hearing speculation about the (then) upcoming movie, and the big fight between Rayquaza (my favorite legendary at the time) and this mysterious virus from space. I expected Deoxys to be some ultimate Pokemon villain. Never did see the movie, so that dream of an epic cataclysmic battle for earth against an ultimate adversary just lived on in my mind. Years later, I looked up a synopsis of the movie... imagine my disappointment when I discovered Deoxys was just misunderstood and only wanted to get back together with it's buddy. What a letdown...
I remember playing my copy of Pokémon White that had a Deoxys on it, since my cousin gave it to me. Imagine my shock and surprise when I found out it could even change forms. At first, I jumped because I saw the sprite of Speed Form Deoxys in battle. Then I looked into it more and found myself fascinated when I saw it had different forms.
The thing with alien creatures outside of earth is that, we don't know what kind of species there currently are outside of the solar system. One of them, interviewed in the 1950s, depicts an alien with the ability to talk through telepathy and huge black eyes with no pupils, who despises humans and doesn't trust them giving info unless kindly asked and such (knowing how the government treats us human beings as much as it would with their own monster creations and such). On the other hand, the xenomorphs are usually referred to as animal/feral aliens that sees humans are new tasty food to want to kill and eat, same with the insect aliens. So in reality, even if we try to find aliens out there, we also need to know how to do food, water, and electric production, as well as our own version of the world wide web in order for many people to enjoy posting stuff online as well as accessing the site in a way that takes shortcuts too and from say, portals from one location to another that people can walk through without having to take a rocket to get to the planet (as I've seen from a book released in the 2000s that predicted what could happen sometime in the mid to late 21st century and such.
I mean, Pokémon form bonds through shows of compassion and strength. Legendary Pokémon only join us because they view our strength as surprising. A Master Ball isn’t gonna stop Kyogre from escaping if it wants to flood the world. It’s merely a matter of appealing to the godly being’s sense of fun and introspection. So, yeah, if the protagonist wasn’t essentially their region’s Jesus, most games would end with death.
I remember sending my GBA with Emerald to one of my mom's coworkers in Texas to get Deoxys from the Houston Space Center distribution. Possibly the most anxious I've ever felt waiting.
I remember looking at Deoxys' official artwork as a kid and it scaring the shit out of me, to the point where I couldn't look at another picture of Deoxys for a month.
Deoxys is actually based on a proposed model of the beginnings of life on earth. The model states that some dna was carried onto the primordial earth trapped inside a meteor. That's why deoxys looks like dna strands.
Deoxys looking so humanoid is has always been unsettling to me, I wish it’s legs would have been more like it’s arms in the sprite. Maybe even let it float pose with one leg instead of the standing one
I like the idea of "void pokemon" being naturally aggressive due to resource scarcity in their environment-- maybe you'll meet one living being every 100 years, and your metabolism is good at subsisting on cosmic rays but bro the organic material is hard to replenish on nothing but the hot bacon on the warning symbols, so if you see something made of matter usable to your body, you gotta be ready to seize it and make its resources yours, or eventually the damages of hurtling through interplanetary space and beyond will overcome your vessel's ability to repair itself. It gives you a crazy "space pirate ecology" where everything is built for high mobility, high damage low gravity combat and I think that concept is neat as hell.

What if the "laserbeam" that hit Deoxys came from the Ultimate Weapon from Kalos, in Pokemon XY? That would be a cool lore development imo.
Scenes when its revealed that deoxys is far future humans optimised for life in space
the beam was the ultimate weapon. its beam hit an asteroid in space and the result: yo
Are you gonna do an aliens playthrough as would be cool
Gotta figure which game has the most available 🤔

I'm personally more partial to the story they gave Deoxys in the Pokemon Adventures manga in FireRed and LeafGreen. Somehow tying it to the Kanto Pokedex Holders and also tying it later in the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Arc is so great!
tldr?
Deoxys drew the line between Pokemon "from space" (Solrock/Lunatone, Clefairy & Minior) and "Actual Freaking Space-Aliens!" Pokemon (Elgyem/Beheeyem & the Ultra Beasts)
Literally anything: enters the ozone layer
Rayquaza: *”GET OU-“*
Rayquaza having beef with absolutely everything/anything that even approaches it's domain (aka. ozone layer) is such a fun concept, also really puts into perspective how insane his senses are that he can sense something approaching all the way from space
The new animation for it reminds me a lot of Rei/Lilith in End of Evangelion during Third Impact.
I am also reminded of Lavos from Chrono Trigger.
Which animation?
Darkrai gets nightmares of deoxys but deoxys sees a therapist about rayquaza 🤝🏽
One of the coolest Pokemon of all time. I can just imagine a Legends Delta or something with a Deoxys fight like Giratina or like Pokemon Generations
Is that a yugioh Alien monster 0:06
You know the A counters
He might just be a scout…just a scout
I had a little plastic figure of this thing as a kid. I thought it was really cool, but until this day I didn't even know what it was. To be honest, I completely forgot it existed until I saw the thumbnail.
Anything: *enters the ozone*
Rayquaza: "I see ya wanna b startn somethin"
I always assumed the laser (at least in ORAS) was meant to refer to the Ultimate Weapon.
Deoxys is always in the GOAT conversation
oh 100%
7:22 To be fair you'd be pretty pissed of if someone suddenly blew up your home/bed/room while you were sleeping peacefully in it.
That Generations episode is so frickin cool. I could watch it all day.
When I was exploring the ultra wormholes in Ultra Sun I brought a Deoxys with me as I thought he'd be a good astronaut to lead my team
Rayquaza: those damn monk- are in my lawn(ozone layer) again, sonny (Kyogre)bring my whip
The crystal in a meteor reminds me of the meteor from Lovecraft's The Color Out Of Space...
This guy flat out tossed the Sp Atk drop when spamming Rayquaza with Psycho Boost.
That note about the meteor in Delta Episode made me realize that there is a lot of similaritied between Deoxys and Chrono Trigger's Lavos. Makes me wonder if the big guy has some biological failsafe for if it fails to make contact with a planet similar to a Deoxys-like mutation.
I cant wait to fight adult Liza and Tate in space.
The laser beam thing came into being with rayquaza in Mystery Dungeon, where it’s role is to protect earth’s atmosphere from external stuff, so it’s laser is what interacted with rayquaza’s laser
Interestingly to note is that Deoxys’ shiny colours VAGUELY have similar color hues to rayquaza’s main colours of green and yellow, so that’s always interesting to think about
I saw Destiny Deoxys first and when I saw the anime, I was super confused as to why Deoxys suddenly went bald 😐
It was his defense form, never shown in the movie
Defense was in the movie, speed form was the one that wasn’t in the movie
@@maxschendell7630 ah yea. The pointy one
It's amazing that there could be an entire other planet and Deoxys is just a traveling God that is looking for another planet to have the natives of his own inhabit. It implies that there's a bunch of alien pokemon on an alien world.
Alien type as a pokemon being explored in space as a special type of pokemon with weaknesses and super effectivenesses could be the next pokemon move
it is interesting to think that the "Laser Beam" may have been a Hyper Beam from Rayquaza. and it mutated to adapt to the new threat, becoming a "Pokémon". i love the idea, the concept, of "you create your own worst enemy"
I'm pretty sure there was a scene in that movie where they put a laser test to the meteorite and that was how deoxys emerged from it.
The representation in the generations episode gives me such creepy Evangelion vibes. It's absolutely perfect
I like your vids man, good style. Consistent little bits of interesting tidbits about the world, it's perfect.
Thank you! Glad you like them! 👽
Yeah, I just barely got a handful of DS events. Nothing on the GBA. 😔
My favourite Pokémon
Something about its backstory, theme and powers fascinate me
What music did you use in this video besides the Deoxys battle theme?
Deoxys! Gods of the Space! I pray to you!!!
Deoxys is a Pokémon that I always forget exists.
Same
Great video! The design reminds me of the Eva units from evangelion.
I mean in the anime it was technically confirmed that some Pokémon do come from space and honestly space lore Pokémon has a lot of potential ngl
As a kid this was my fave cause it came from space and was just more mysterious than others and almost impossible to get

It's one of those Pokemon I've more recently gained interest in, to the point I successfully shiny hunted a Deoxys.
Rayquaza’s MO is simple: don’t come into the ozone layer and it won’t have to fuck you up
So, horrifying enough, mankind can trap anything it wants into a tiny sphere
I can't say much about the Ultimate Weapon theory, but I did hear a theory that Deoxys was initially the Pokerus virus.
ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY SPACE NOODLE THAT LIKES TO THROW HANDS
Last i remember (at least in the movie trailer), deoxys was created in a lab orbiting the earth.
Deoxys is actually based on a proposed model of the beginnings of life on earth. The model states that some dna was carried onto the primordial earth trapped inside a meteor. That's why deoxys looks like dna strands.
Maybe the beam references the beam that was user to wake up the "other Deoxys" from the film.
(4:49) You have an excellent taste in movies my friend.
I love how you used Yugioh's Alien Archetype.
Tgank you😁
It moves like Diaboromon in the Generation episode, you think that's intentional?
My fav part in DD is when Rayquaza decides to vaporize Deoxys point blank. The epitome of "Ef around n find out". 😂
