I respect J.B the man. He helped lift us up and grind us out of the bottom of the league. But it was apparent he was always going to be a bridge coach. His non-existent offensive system really hurt this team and hurt Mobleys development. Koby waited a year too long to make this shift when it was clear as day after the Knicks series. Now the coaching pool is very slim. We lost the chance to get one of the most promising coaches in the league in Jordi Fernandez. Koby needs to get this coaching hire correct. His job depends on it. Cavs also need to see how else they can supplement this team. Niang was a TERRIBLE signing. Strus is best coming off the bench. Cavs needs a 3 & D player with length. It's going to be a tough task. Can't trade one of the core 4's without creating another big hole.
I've been saying it. Give us jaden mcdaniels, derrick jones jr, herb jones, anyone like that with the current big 4 and see what happens lol. More rotational minutes for mobley and allen to not clog up the floor together. You can work strus okoro and merril in much easier with someone like that too. Really haven't seen one 6'7+ primary defender with a decent clip and playmaking ability on the cavs ever. Besides bron of course but he's one of one. if you say that we don't need big changes, then you should be fired too. We need at least 2 good wings, 1 to start and 1 to bench. I'm good if you won't trade Garland or Allen, they can perform better with a good coach and an offseason training session where they improve shooting(also Mobley needs) and how to be DAWGS. It’s actually laughable that Koby kept his job and JB didn’t. Whatever you think of JB’s performance this past season, he wasn’t the source of our issues. The conversations have been centered around fit and roster construction, which isn’t JB’s fault. You can’t make chicken salad out of chicken shit. “JB is just bad bro.” Yeah? Well we were missing our “future franchise” player and former all star for a significant stretch and still managed to win nearly 50 games. I think people underestimate the effect of JB not utilizing the roster he had well enough. There’s a lot of talent, but we had no cohesive complete identity, based around each players talents as part of the whole. Koby not wanting to blow it up, I believe is correct. Aggressively pursue one wing and hire someone who utilizes our gold mine of talent.

The bench is sporadic at best and does not hit the three consistently enough to keep us in games with great teams. If our goal is to be third or fourth place in the Eastern conference, we are built to accomplish that every year for ten more years. Our offensive strategy was pure garbage running pick and roll every play which willnot work against a physical team as Allen has shown weakness against. Garland needs to be traded and we need to find young aggressive bigs that can come in and push back. The bench is the key. Threes and heart.
