- Californiaaaaaaa here we cooooome. Hop in the truck, sheeple! We’re going to wine country - but I’m not talking about Napa. We’re gonna taste phenomenal wine - but we’re also gonna get elbow deep in mud. Welcome to Tablas Creek, managed by Local Legend Neil Collins, the very first vineyard in the WHOLE WORLD to have a Gold R.O.C. (Regenerative Organic Certified) designation.
They worked hard to get it too. They’re working to bring sustainable agriculture into the mainstream by showing that not only is it possible, efficient, and far easier than you’d think… it’s also absolutely magical.
Thank you to Neil, Austin, Marci, and the rest of your beautiful family and friendly, warm employees for making us feel so welcome.

This is the best coverage of our farming we've seen. Thank you, Brad and team, for your brilliant coverage. Cheers to you. #farmliketheworlddependsonit
Slocal legends*
You do "Biodynamic" though. Explain, plainly, what that means.
Local Legends is something special, this just a whole nother level of quality!!!!
That "whole nother" is killing me, man!
@@dsalet1 what? like wouder? Lol. Hehehe
This episode in particular is special.
The editing has gotten so dang good on these!!!! Feels like I'm watching a Netflix series.
Thank you, the whole team loves to hear it
Every time I watch local legends it renews my faith in humanity and the future. Every episode, every person featured is so special. You’re helping change the world with these videos Brad ❤️🌏💫
this is the best mini doc yet. obsesseddd with getting more info ab how people all around the world farm sustainably and i love how yall make it fun to watch.
These farmers are Earth Angels. They bring hope back into my heart. Thanks for bringing awareness to this glorious effort
I feel like this is a series that can go on for a looonggg time, and I love that. There's always incredible people doing amazing things for their communities and the world, and exposure and conversation like this series does only pushes more people to get out and be their own local legends, thanks Brad and Team :))))
Production quality on this is fantastic. Brad you do a phenomenal job of letting those passionate about their craft highlight what they're excited about and then validate and encourage that excitement to craft a really enjoyable story for us to enjoy.
I can NEVER get enough of the Local Legend series! It’s always amazing and I love it!
absolutely LOVED this, got chills all over learning about methods of sustainable agriculture i would’ve never imagined possible-what a heartening and educational video while also being visually STUNNING. feels so much like a passion project while watching. brad you shine in this format!!!
Biochar is an incredible ingredient in tree/shrub/plant care. The company I work for produces it at a large scale and we've started to use it in any/all tree/shrub planting projects we end up doing.
It's great
sustainable agriculture is a beautiful thing. love seeing different ways it can connect us to nature & inspire our creativity!
This is something we should all strive towards whether we grow our own food or get involved in a political process to change the processes of agriculture in this country. We’re sick & our planet is sick and it doesn’t have to be that way
What a perfect episode! It felt like a movie! Awesome filming, awesome People! Thank you!!!!! ❤
Brad for a foody your channel is my top notch.... but your Local Legions series is epic!!!!! Love learning about these amazing individuals and their lands/homes.... and a big shout out to your camera man/men and dude seriously on all your series, your editors are so freakin talent and very very funny.... love it ....
This the best series ever Brad!! This one absolutely rocks!! Bam son!!
What an incredible story. This speaks to my soul. It is possible to do the right thing. Thanks Brad, as always, you are the best, shedding light.❤
I loved learning about the Green Revolution in school. I'm excited to learn about reinvesting those lessons into healthy ecosystems and sustainable production.
We stopped at tablas creek today. Great place and recondition! Amazing wines and love the fact it’s a regenerative local legend. Thanks for opening our eyes and minds to a way of living. Thanks Brad and team
Im really proud of how Brad is making a difference by showcasing the hard work that people do to keep up sustainable farming, quality foods, and ecologically responsible practices. Cheers!
THIS IS MY FAVORITE VIDEO ON TH-cam!!! ❤️💛💚💖💚💙💜!!
ALL CAP!! 🤣
...
And I should know! I started a Permaculture Community in Costa Rica!! 💚🌱💚 Pura Vida!!
This is like nat geo! It is so uplifting! Coming from the Cali Central Valley I feel connected to Paso and am heart warmed that there is a winery with such a sense of community and biophilia! I will be sharing this video with anyone and everyone so that we can, as consumers, support businesses who look out for the common good! Thank you, Brad!!! 🫶
Go Tablas Winery!! I work for an organic and regenerative agriculture vineyard in Leelanau Michigan! We just need to get the organic certification to be able to call ourselves organic and it’s a lot of hoops to jump through but hopefully in a few years we’ll be recognized. Gilchrist Farm and Winery, if any of you are ever around traverse city Michigan come see us!
This was one of my favorite Local Legends episodes! So damn inspiring- don’t need to have my own vineyard, but I can make small changes in my own garden to improve the land.
A kickass episode
Loving Local Legends! Always a pleasure watching your videos Brad!
This wine is of top quality. I've been studying and selling and pairing wines with food professionally for ten years, and am very impressed with all the Tablas Creek releases. They deserve their good name for caring about their operation and caring about the future of winemaking.
Oh I've had Tablas Creek Syrah, got a great price on it through Total Wine... I can vouch. It was worth every penny! And I'm a Rhone Valley junkie...
Organic is the way to do it. Best for people, best for animals
and best for our earth. Bravo!
Local Legends just keeps getting better and better! Love you Brad and everything you do
Cmon guys! hit the like button for goodness sakes! Brad is the man,, n brings the best content around !!! And subscribe for goodness sakes!!
Hands down best one yet!
High five to these guys. Wow Love what their doing
Love Tablas Creek!! I clicked on this episode so fast!
I love what Tablas Creek is doing and how the pieces all fit together. Very cool seeing how biochar is made. It demystifies the whole thing and makes is super accessible to the home grower. Having lived in Washington's Yakima Valley (fruit, veg, and hops) and the Palouse country (wheat, barley, lentils) and in central Illinois (corn, soybeans) I have learned the ugly truth about living in an agricultural area. It looks so lovely and pastoral but you can't let your kids or pets wander the fields and orchards because they are so contaminated with herbicides and pesticides. And all those lakes and rivers? Better not think about swimming in them as they are a toxic brew of agricultural chemicals. I am so excited about what is being done with regenerative agriculture. It's good for the farmers, good for the earth, good for the animals, good for the consumers, and good for the people who live and work in those communities. This is the future! Thanks Brad!
Now this is just special. Hope this movement grows!
I think this is one of my favorite episodes so far. Beautiful job!!!
Ohhhhhhh my heart got filled up again 🤟🏽♥️
I love the intro man i cant help but sing along every time
This is your best work yet, the whole team crushed it. Thank you for continuing to highlight the hard work of people trying to do things right and make things better.
Right on Brad! Thanks for highlighting such good stewards of change and progress.
Brad you're awesome! Great episode!
This is content anyone in ag needs to see, beautiful!
Love this! I have designed a lot of buildings on wineries and being around a vineyard is always a happy place for me. It is always interesting to see the farming practices in a vineyard that are breaking the norm.
What a beautifully shot episode in Paso Robles. Welcome to California Brad Leone.....
Best episode yet! Time to go find a bottle of this good stuff
This was so awesome. Please do more farm tours!
Paso is the new Napa of California to a lot of insiders these days. Different varieties obviously, but there are many top class wineries, like Tablas Creek, that are punching way above their "weight".
Welcome to Cali, Brad! Grew up in the Central Valley/Coast myself...This was amazing to see! Gracias!
Also, Come towards the Yay Area!! Marin County.
Super quality documentary. Filming, editing, narration. So good.
I absolutely support organic farmers, and can thankfully afford to buy organic and cruelty free here in the UK. That said, I'm very much against other farming methods being described as 'chemical', as this piles on to the 'chemicals equal bad' mentality, which is so dumb. The modern would couldn't operate at the population levels we have without synthetic chemicals. But organic farming also uses chemicals, they just tend to be naturally occuring ones!
It's disingenuous to use the term 'chemicals' in the way presented in this video.
You make some good points. Yes, organic sprays for example can still be toxic and people need to use a mask to protect their lungs but organic is def better than the pesticide farming.
Although like you said it’s not yet possible to be organic on a mass scale for all the people in the world to be fed.
WOW! this whole series is so good, but this episode is just special.
Haven’t even started yet and I know im in for a good time ✌🏻
Well done sir. The content and production were great. Keep it up
Camera operators and editors doing some flexing in this episode. 👌
Awesome video! Happy for them on how far they’ve come. They’re definitely paving the road for the rest of us.
I do believe we need more transparency and explanation to viewers on what “organic”actually means. You can be certified organic and use a ton of OMRI listed chemicals. So “no chemicals” & “no pesticides” is far from accurate.
The idea of a closed loop system is nice in theory but far from reality. Don’t get me wrong I’m all for this and those of us that work in the industry work hard to even get to where they are in their journey. But we need to have more transparency with the consumer.
Awesome, Awesome content. I love what you do!!
Sunday night has been made
Love Paso and the Central Coast. I'm lucky to be just a couple of hours away. When I want a change of scenery, I don't jump on a plane...I head to Paso Robles
this is such a cool intiative and it's so inspiring to see farming that's multigenerational, planned into the future
YOOO This is so cool to see! Paso is somewhat close to my neck of the woods growing up, it's so rad that Brad got to have this experience. Paso Robles is a beautiful place.
Amazing episode! Love what they are doing!
I love love love this!!!!
So very excellent on every level. 💚💚💚
Great video Brad
Local Legends is going to make me buy some sheep at this rate! Amazing episode. Already looking into how I can get some Tablas Creek wine here in Colorado!
I dont like wine or alcoholic drinks but what an honour and privileged it would have been to sip from that bottle of wine 24:50
I didn’t know you branched off! Love the series, reminds me a lot of “California’s Gold” which was hosted by Huell Howser. Def recommend watching a few episodes, reminds me a lot of that.
Yassss! California Gold on PBS w/ Huell is epic
Dang, more of this please.
Amazing episode! Very interesting and informative, good job!
This feels like hope.
Beautiful episode x
Really awesome!
I’m going to have to try that wine. Good on them!
yes yes yes and roc. red red wine maka me feel so fine.. whole heep of zing!
amazing vineyard!
incredible stuff
This one would've been a great episode for Marc Andre Houston to tag along on!
Ok but what is the song from the biochar clip? Thank you for sharing this insight!!! One of my favorites:m!
get the sense brad wanted to play with those dogs each time he saw em
10/10
"we pay our employees a living wage not a minimum wage"
"but you don't have to"
man I wish I could see Brad's staff face 🙃
Please go do a video with White Oak Pastures in Bluffton, GA!
Odd question, what shoes are you rockin at 10:54? Awesome vid!
Respect.
Looks nice.
Dude. All the forest that used to be where your grape vines are now have been long chopped down and the Carbon they stored in their wood was released to the atmosphere. Nothing changes that fact and you can't fix that with biochar.
24:14 LOL
infinite likes
Really really cool. I would have loved a deeper look into the actual wine making though!
"Chemicals" is vague, could that tell the story better? Carbon is an element, nitrogen is too but it causes problems when it's in some chemical compounds...
Being a linguist means spending over half the video trying to figure out what Neil's accent is 😂 My guess is West Country originally?
😊😊😊😊😊
biochar is doublespeak
Braddd... Not a Tacoma😔😔😔 Pickup!! Tacoma's started in 1995
Makes me want to quit my job.
everything is chemicals anyways .... even water
Burning that wood is ok but I would rather it be burnt in a offset smoker & used to smoke some meat as that would add incredible flavours
10:41 I really enjoy this content, and I would appreciate it even more if you included metric as well. Just a little something down in one corner.
hilarious intro, great ep! (still hate the lyrics in the intro. please just remove the vox its so corny! 😂)
