    Thanks for posting this. I am going to try it for my Super 73 bikes that have a wide tire.

    • @BradBeaird
      @BradBeaird  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would think it would work pretty well for that type of bike. Really that is the beauty is that you can make it as wide as you like for specific tires.

    great design, wrap those 2x4s in some of that fabric they put on the boat trailers and and you'll get some added protection from scratches. Thanks for the upload

    Built my rack based mainly on yours. I used 2x6's and they are just right for securing our 27.5" comfort bikes. Easy, stable carrier built to fit my Colorado short bed. Just add a few strategically placed bungies and I would not hesitate carrying the bikes anywhere. Thanks!

    I like your results. Thanks for the video. Certainly makes it more convenient to get out for a ride!
    It inspires me to try a similar construct but biased corner to corner in the bed so's I can close the tailgate and keep a toolbin in the opposite corner of the bed.
    I was also thinking of a simpler bike frame support (inverted T) that would allow alternate placements of an upright bike. As I said, you're inspiring!

    Nice job. If you drill a cross hole in one set of the 2x4's where the bike rim is below the surface, you can put a rod across them and lock the wheel to the rack. Its my next project.

      @@BradBeaird Finished mine, very happy with the results. Had left over gloss black Rust-Oleum brush paint and it's sturdy and does the job. All in with lumber and brackets...$40. Money well spent, and saved vs a bed rack in my Jeep Gladiator. Thank you again for sharing.

    Thanks for sharing this.. Question, as you built it, any movement from the bike(s)? I did not see any straps across the wheels or similar so I'm wondering how secured it may be traveling a short highway distance.

    • @BradBeaird
      @BradBeaird  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I put one strap across back wheel and that seems to work well. Minimal movement overall as long as you drive reasonably.

      @@BradBeaird yup, just started thinking about this and a good strap would do the trick. Trying to see if I can build a 4x bike rack for my Sierra Elevation. Any idea on weight of the one you built?

    HibBrad! This looks great. I’m repurposing some scrap pallets and beach wood to build the rack for my 2022 Ridgeline. Do you have the dimensions of the wood you used? Thanks!

    • @BradBeaird
      @BradBeaird  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I don't really have the dimensions for the wood I used and it's been so long ago, I certainly couldn't remember any longer :D

    • @TK-ee9nd
      @TK-ee9nd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Got it. Thanks. That’s the thing with videos. They live everyday as though they were just filmed. Anyway, clever design. I am using pallets where there are two 2x4s nailed as supports already, and 2x10’d washed up on the beach. Decks Screws in the garage. The only cost will be the metal braces.

    • @BradBeaird
      @BradBeaird  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@stevegarza1643 I didn’t attach it. It had enough weight to stay in place and was the width of the truck bed so it didn’t move around at all.
