I like when the camera guy asks questions. Learning from the guys at throtl is always a plus no matter how dumb the question seem I'd love to hear you guys explain it
I must admit these films of Evo's brings back allot of good memories. I was lucky enough to have owned 4 of them over the years (an 8, 2 9's and a X). They are such great cars. When I sold my last Evo a X in 2012, I just always thought, I would get another one later. Who knew they would stop building such an icon. Today, I am older now, been there done that and have spent enough money tinkering on cars, the Evo's in particular I could have almost paid cash for my house. haha. Once you get started it becomes a drug, an addiction. I got to the point that 500whp just wasn't enough. Then, after getting pulled over by a local Sherriff for doing 130mph in a 55 zone, though I had a good reason to why I was driving fast (long story but there was a reason) I realized I had to get out of this type of car. Its like Spider Man's Uncle said, "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility". Unfortunately, most Evo drivers are not the most responsible drivers. So I got out of the game. I do appreciate this car, have tracked them more than most, had some kind of Evo as a Daily for over 10 yrs. I personally can take a 4G63 apart probably blind folded haha. Great Cars. Great Memories. Best cars I have and probably will ever have owned from a performance perspective anyway. Sorry STI fans, the Evo just one ups you every time. Even to this day, a Stock Evo X will beat a brand new STI in almost every category. Facts. haha. Love the channel, and these builds. Defiantly puts a smile on my face. Keep up the good work guys!!!
@@TranceF0rmation They are great cars, but keep in mind, especially for a younger person insurance, at least in California will be OFF THE HOOK for an Evo. Additionally, my Evo X when stock netted about 15mpg going back and forth to work and that was not hot rodding it around. I got about 180 miles on a tank of gas. So with 91 running about $5.00 a gallon it gets pricey. Just things to know before you buy. I would love to get another one, but I have been there done that I currently drive a 2020 VW GTI and honestly, for day to day use? The GTI to me is the better car. If we are talking on a track? Different story obviously. Though, after 10 yrs of being in the "Evo World" track meets, clubs and all, only about 1 in 10 Evo owners actually "tracked" their Evo's. So in the real world? I find the GTI just as fun to drive, Insurance is cheaper, gas is cheaper, and more practical. If you have your heart set on an Evo, I can't blame you. 👍
@@naturalsr405 Yes, there are cars that will always hold a piece of our hearts, but as time goes on, and wanting to get back into one of those cars we let get away, you realize your needs, and wants, are just different. I actually had to sell my last Evo back in 2012 due to divorce, not that it was in "her" name, but I needed the money post divorce, and I had to sell my car and get something more affordable. I am doing better now, but going back to those days? Well, I think you know what I am talking about. Good Times though....Good Times.
Hello throtl, I would really advice against painting the caliper mounting surfaces (the flat machined surfaces which make contact with the knuckle). The calipers will not sit right on the knuckle, destroying the tolerance stack-up of the entire caliper, which is important for correct function. You may get a taper wear on pads, unwanted brake drag torque, or maybe even caliper scratching the rotor. Luckily with fixed type caliper, the pads can't fell off, as they are secured with pins. Same with painting the pistons. Also, brake rotor is unsprung weight. Designing brake calipers is my daily bread. :)
You can take a razor blade and cut the lower part of the stock antenna and use it as a spacer for the shorty antenna so it gets rid of the gap. That's what I did on mine. Tip: Cut "spacer" long and trim to fit.
Evo x goes pretty far with a good owner. Back when I worked for Mitsubishi they never came in with issues minus the ones with the sst. Just regular maintenance.
I believe rotors are unsprung rotational mass. The light weight rotor hats help shave off some unsprung mass Floating 2 piece rotors help prevent pad knock back.
Quinn quality boi. Ricky loving the espanyol.... great work gents. GreT episode even if it is just upgrading the brakes, sooo informative and keeps me glued to watch this completely finished
I loved the 101 class on 1 piece vs 2 piece rotors. I’d love to see more educational videos teaching us useful things like that along with maybe a weekly video on your favorite shop tools that are affordable for us driveway mechanics. Can’t wait to see what recipe Mickey cake up with for the Evo!
Following this build as I also have an Evo X. Canadian 2015 w/Handling Package. Love the EBC but I prefer DBA rotors. Looking forward to more vids in the build.
this would be a great time to upgrade to the MAP clutch master cylinder as well, since the brake fluid also runs to the clutch line and you get a braided stainless clutch line to match the brake lines, will make the clutch pedal feel new again. my shit was leaking for awhile before i caught it, nice work guys!
Throtl vip squad good morning Quinn Mickey Rickie Evan Rick victor Shawn Will Tim Big Jeff and the rest of the team awesome working on the Evo 10 giveaway 🔥😃😊👍🏽🤙🏽
I understand this is mostly a JDM channel with a little dab in bmw’s and some fords. Here lately it seems to be getting a little repetitive. Have you guys thought about stepping more outside the comfort zone? Just an idea VW’s; mk5, mk6 or mk7 gti would be cool and something different, plus it’d be cool to see a Mickey Spec VW . Hope this doesn’t come off negative in anyway, I truly enjoy the content!
Paint stripper or some B17 stripper is a great thing to have around the shop. Strip calipers in 4mins. Rebuild the seals all 4 45mins Paint/ powder coat in 2 hours time. I like to have a clean shop. Too much dust with sanding
I was thinking as well...Im learning abt everything still but would the rubber fine ? would the pistons work properly if 3-4 coats of paint got on em ?
Quinn is a fucking legend! So young but know all this about engines and cars. Bless this man. So Throtl, stop messing around with this guy, i bet the rest of you was not at Quinn's level at your age
I really like those factory Evo wheels and i don't know why... I hope the new wheels look like them, but with a fat lip. I would have painted the calipers Caution\fluoresent red. Good job Ricky's Powder Coating and Quinn💪
I just had an er swap on my 1972 Honda Civic I had a superx50 supercharger added to my thingy And now my car whistles I also had an oil change Pretty cool
Hello, I know this video is old but I cannot find the two-piece lightweight rotors you used in the video on your website, do you guys still offer those? thank you.
Great content on the Evo can't wait for the next one river Avenue that turned right onto my northeast streetGreat content on the Evo can't wait for the next one
Brembo advises against powder coating their calipers when refurbishing them. They are painted from the factory because the powder coating process requires baking the powder at temperatures that affect the metallurgic properties of the aluminum alloy they use in their calipers. It would probably be fine but doesn't hurt to know what they advise if anyone wants to refurb theirs.
I like when the camera guy asks questions. Learning from the guys at throtl is always a plus no matter how dumb the question seem I'd love to hear you guys explain it
Quinn is such a natural at explaining stuff. Seems like he's just having a casual conversation while he works. Would never guess he's the new guy lol
I thought he wasn't new lol
Y’all gotta put the brembo logos on the brakes I think it’ll complete the look even more
Yes
probably waiting until they choose a paint color so they can go off that
I agree with that it needs the brembo stickers lol
Agreed, but I think the stickers are more durable if they are underneath the clear coat, less susceptible to the heat generated….
They will probably accent the logos (brembo or throtl) off the main colour
Just heard Quinn got an RX-7. I’m really curious on how “Quinn Quality” turns out with it. Hope you guys decide to show his build with us!
YES PLEASE!!!!
Yeah his personal episodes.
I’m a huge fan of Quinn I’m so glad y’all brought him on the team

Thats awesome. I just got my first lancer last year. Hoping to upgrade to an evo

Super glad that Quinn is apart of the team and how Evan and Mickey are always motivating and pushing everyone to grow with Trhtl
18:05 LOL Quin instead of saying anything first, as he's helping Ricky up. "See, the funny thing is..."
Digging the dynamics in the shop ha love the banter between Quin and Ricky haha
Quinn and Ricky are the back bone of the shop! love them
True. Mickey only joins when the cool parts come.
I must admit, these things have aged really well imo 👌
Evo x goes pretty far with a good owner. Back when I worked for Mitsubishi they never came in with issues minus the ones with the sst. Just regular maintenance.
Quinn is the king of technical details.
Damn! Red lock tight on the caliber bolts 🤯
Only OCD triggering thing is no replacement Brembo sticker to keep it that clean, a nice black Brembo sticker would set it off nicely
Love the little tip and tricks quin give like greasing the moving metal on metal parts that makes a lot of sense
The jazz joint while Ricky painted the calipers..... Nice touch
I believe rotors are unsprung rotational mass. The light weight rotor hats help shave off some unsprung mass
Floating 2 piece rotors help prevent pad knock back.
correct
correct, I misspoke.
My favorite build you guys have started, so much potential on the X, best sedan ever made period.
Quinn quality boi. Ricky loving the espanyol.... great work gents. GreT episode even if it is just upgrading the brakes, sooo informative and keeps me glued to watch this completely finished
Quinn work is so clean I need to work with that dude
I love that you guys work hard and laugh hard as well. Stay humble fellas.
Would loved to see the brembo sticker added back, cool lil flex for the future owner to have factory brembos
Should’ve added the Brembo decals back on lol
For all the touch ups and “Ricky powder coating department” content we get and love to see, Throtl should invest in a sandblaster!!!
Blast cabinet and a real powder coating setup, don’t have to wait three days for paint to dry, and way more durable.

I own the same EVO X, I am excited to see how the final project is gonna look like, who knows maybe I'll go for the same mods too 🤫
Keep it coming guys. Love the show. From south africa
Thank you!!!
A little pressure on the brake pedal will close the ports and keep brake fluid leakage to a minimum when removing calipers.
Love the x build inspired me more to build mine more than it is !! Thanks guys for the content !! 🔥🔥🤙🏽👌🏽
Following this build as I also have an Evo X. Canadian 2015 w/Handling Package. Love the EBC but I prefer DBA rotors. Looking forward to more vids in the build.
A wide body kit would go crazy on this evo . Maybe the streetfighter la WB kit👍
I just bought my 2014 Evo X GSR today I will be with you guys throughout this journey👌🔥😁

I’ve been wanting them to do a vw soooo bad

Paint/ powder coat in 2 hours time.
I like to have a clean shop. Too much dust with sanding
You guys should invest on powdercoat machine and unit. This would bring more customers asking for powdercoat
Watching these videos makes me want to restore my evo x keep up the great work guys good luck to everyone on winning this beautiful evo x
With the level of builds you guys do you really need to invest in a decent powder coating setup.
or a sand blaster do they are not sanding all day
I love all these episodes man, I always learn so much, and get so many ideas from watching u guys work
11:47 shouldn’t the brake pistons be taped off?
Lol that’s what I was thinking too
Looks like they taped 1 caliper, not the other!
I was thinking as well...Im learning abt everything still but would the rubber fine ? would the pistons work properly if 3-4 coats of paint got on em ?
I’m worried about the red lock tight on the bolts
@@jo3lo85 yea noticed that too.
The Evo 10 is my dream car and to see Throtl building one man its going to be amazing! I can't wait to see how this build turn out
lmaooo quin at the end asking where is the library
Quin with the Bedazzled quote 🤣 classic
- Every dollar spent gets Ricky more sanding paper lol
These bloopers are gold
Donde está la biblioteca XD
23:03 😂😂😂 saludos desde México!! Love you guys.
18:05 Ricky tryna have a wholesome moment with Quinn and proceeds to get roasted LOL
Quinn is a fucking legend! So young but know all this about engines and cars. Bless this man. So Throtl, stop messing around with this guy, i bet the rest of you was not at Quinn's level at your age
I think we need a throtl paint booth. The overspray from over the years is scaring me. LOL

Where’s the father and son build at been looking forward too that video as it reminds me of me and my step dad building my eclipse gst rn
This has been my dream car for so long now
You guys need to get a Sand Blasting Cabinet so you can prepare parts easily. You might be able to get sponsors to donate one.
Lol rickie is so me 🤣”I just put them in and go”
Kinda liked the red callipers with the Brembo Logos... Maybe add black logos onto the silver?
The grease thing. Thats why Quinn is a mechanic and Ricky is sound and audio! Lol ... Lol
Breath of fresh air to hear some new BGM. Nice!
YOOOOOO THE BLOOOPERS ARE BETTER THEN THE NORMAL EPISODE 😂😂😂😂 donde está la bibleoteca 😂😂😂
Finally. . I've been waiting for this evo...
Rattle Can Ricky knocking it out the park again 🔥🔥
Wrap the roof gloss black 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Love the Mitsubishi content! You guys need to do a Gen 2 or 2.5 Mitsubishi Montero/Pajero.
I just had an er swap on my 1972 Honda Civic
I had a superx50 supercharger added to my thingy
And now my car whistles
I also had an oil change
Pretty cool
My opinion I prefer the red callipers, just depends on what colour the car is going
Surprised you didn't put Throtl stickers on the calipers...and that they didn't go fluoro yellow :P.
Those rotors are absolutely massive
Both these guys are entertaining to watch work on projects. Eager to see this turnout.
perfect timing for my lunch break
Hello, I know this video is old but I cannot find the two-piece lightweight rotors you used in the video on your website, do you guys still offer those? thank you.
Quinn has great explanations, but tell him Rotors are Unsprung weight. Love the videos!
I misspoke.
@@M3NACE I figured you did. Great job on the Eclipse btw. Fun to watch you grow your fab skills.

Quin & Ricky. 📈

ricky and quinn 🙏🏼🙏🏼 lifeeeee
thats funny someone else shared my frustrations on projects on my subaru lol that oem antenna is definitely weird the stubby one is the way to go!
Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out 👌

Love the series! Hopefully you don’t ever need to take the calipers off again, because dude was waaaaaaay over torquing those bolts 😂😂😂😂
Here we go again😁😁😁super excited for this build💪

Question,
If you’re a VIP member but don’t happen to purchase during a certain giveaway, does your membership get you entries anyway? If so, how many?
I was really hoping for floral yellow calipers, but I trust it’ll still look great regardless of caliper color 👍
Flouro**. Lots of folks think its floral
you should put some black brembo stickers back on the calipers it would be sick
So another paint calipers video….awesome
Got to love an Evo build but would be nice to see you do and Evo 1, 2 or 3 or even a 6.5
So cleannnnn now I need a evo nowww👀👀
Quin should do a tool box check video his mini ratchets are awesome
Loving the build so far. Dream car. ❤️ ❤️
Y'all gotta get some rims to replace those stock ones. Brakes look awesome though!
The Ricky powder coating dept 🤣🤣🤣
