Thanks for the great work, I've tried it but the problem I'm having is that whenever I want to generate model for the FE analysis, it keeps bringing error
@@Joshua_d_designer thanks but I've tried checking the building model analysis, all the structural members passed. The error says two nodes are too close to each other (same position or almost)
Thanks for the tutorial video on raft foundation design. Please I will like to know, in real life practice, is the raft slab supposed to be on top of the ground beams or at the bottom of the ground beam? Thanks
@@Joshua_d_designer Ok. I was thinking the slab should be at the bottom of the beam, so as to transfer the structural load to the soil. If the slab is on top, how will the loads be transfered to the soil?
In addition, I observed you didn't check for the soil pressure part. I think there's need to check if the soil allowable stress you applied is sufficient to resist the stress from the building. Thanks
Well done ✅ However, I observed that even after you specified max spacing of 150mm for the bottom reinforcement, now of the panel provide should. Most of them are Y12 @250mm. Can you explain why we have such? Thanks. And also, I observed you made the slab at the top of the beam which the normal practice on site. But have you tried cut section across the slab panel and see what it gives. Here, it showed from the section that the slabs are below the beams. Kindly look into that. Thanks for the insightful class again.
Well, the software has not been to give the section as it should but the analysis is correct. The design of the raft is by contours and the provision should apply adequately to contours at definite places. If done properly, the reinforcement provided will be correct. Also, if you check the slab design result you can see the reinforcement required and provided at different places. If helpful let me know Thanks
Nice response, well done. But have you tried to compare the results of ignoring the ref level, making the slab at the bottom of the beam? Because from my observations so far, I see no difference in analysis results from the two angles.
And that's why i said the result will still be valid despite. I just needed to effect the right ref level so my modeling can be correct. I will suggest you do too
I do not think selecting those contours and spacing is necessary. The software is designing for you and what you need is to input real life variables. If you input any value that is too sufficient, Orion will change it to something sufficient. And I think the software is also designed to help us safe cost 😊
Please I still have issue with the raft foundation design detailings even after finishing with my design I can still see the reinforcement detailing and is very disturbing. Please how can you help me out with this cause?
after following all the steps you taught on this platform once i clicked on update steel bars the result i keep getting is analysis results cannot be found. why is it so sir?

Sir, please your volume goes low and it's not audible at some parts.
i love you for this. thanks
You're welcome sir
I'm happy you found satisfaction
The beam is supposed to seat on the slab for the foundation purposes

Check building model to confirm if there are errors in your job

Yes, that's the point you'd need to visit again, it has to do with your model

If it's a beam and slab raft, the slab is supposed to be at the top
@@Joshua_d_designer Ok. I was thinking the slab should be at the bottom of the beam, so as to transfer the structural load to the soil. If the slab is on top, how will the loads be transfered to the soil?
In the design, it acts such that the effect of soil pressure takes place in the inverted form of a suspended setting and it will indeed be valid.
@@Joshua_d_designer Please I don't really understand what you mean. Can you explain further?

Have you tried updating the analysis before updating the steel?
