Scaitcliffe Hall was the home of the Crossley family since medieval times. The south part was re-built in 1666 and the north part in 1738, then it was completely pulled down and re-erected in 1833. It is an attractive Grade 2 listed building in picturesque surroundings.
Most recently it was a hotel, restaurant, and popular wedding venue. We think it closed around 2012. There was some fire damage in 2017 and the roof is leaky in parts but it’s not bad considering how long it’s been derelict. The stone shell is probably good for another couple of centuries.

Hello Pete I'm following your channel from Melbourne Australia, I mostly enjoy your disused railway series such as the Farnley branch line but also find these abandoned explores very interesting. Hopefully there will be a future for Scaitcliffe Hall that retains the historical Grade 2 listed structures, anyway thanks again for another very enjoyable video!

Thank you! The Farnley ones will be out soon, as will the continuation of the Driffield to Selby line. I do like an urban explore but i also try to find buildings with an interesting past!

I explored this building today. It was a great exploration but it was my first time going exploring alone so I was very scared haha. This was made worse by the fact it was pissing it down outside so all the rain thundering down was very loud tearing through the building. The amount of old stuff left in there is insane, it used to be such a nice building.

@@newmotorcycleguy theres a place called Frostholme Mill just down burnley road from todmorden, in Cornholme. Me and a friend went but we couldnt find a way to get in, but it couldve been easily accessible via ladder (theres also a driveway at the front that has fencing round it, which you could probably get through quite easily, but its very visible to the public + security cameras. I have read however that if you do manage to get in, its a very interesting exploration

The last room you went in used to be the restaurant. I did my work experience here. It’s so sad to see it in this state 😢

Thank you for posting this...........Very interesting, I live locally and had no idea this was in our area. I find the Victorian re-build architecture rather industrial and uninspiring.... but I can see the potential!

Very surprised that hasn't been snapped up unless the Grade listing is putting people off with them limited to what they can and can't do putting them off.., its a heck of building with a fair bit of land i imagine...!!

Gradings to tend to put people off, but this is also in such a state i think the 1M price tag doesn't help. And i can imagine its a conservation area too.

What a shame it has been left like that. What is wrong with this country. Surely something could have been done years ago to make a better use of it, as it wouldn't have cost that much when they closed the hotel down. Crying out to have something done to reinstate it. The land itself must be worth a fortune.

I think its future may lie in being flats and the land for sympathetic new builds.

Its funny that we got the odor if cigarette smoke up stairs but neither of us smoke! i would like to see the stables kept and the oldest part. Some of the extensions look rough.
