Thanks for uploading this in its entirety (and in the quality in which it was intended to be watched). I've been wanting to see this since I first read about it in Hawk's book 10 years ago. This was when Cab and McGill were the two, most popular skaters on the planet, and Rodney had revitalized freestyle from languishing into obscurity (like slalom and downhill were). As for street skating, it consisted of little more than "curb grinders" as they called them at the time.
The skater in the green shirt and purple helmet is Mike McGill. Or did you mean the shirtless guy in the white helmet at 2:53? If so, I don't know either. Maybe just one of the locals at Lakewood, the skatepark where that clamshell pool was located.
@Nominay So Cab and Mcgill was the best skaters before Hosoi, Hawk, Mountain and Phillips took over ? Mcgill never did anything cooler then the Mctwist he invented. He had a very boring style at the end of his professional career.
Perhaps - but he HAD a professional skating career and invented one of the most important, challenging and transformative tricks in the history of vert skating. Fan or not - I think you owe him that respect.
Whoa. Rodney really did like, never ever fall off his board. Thanks for posting this 13 years ago

Thank you Scott Starr!! RIP.
When skaters actually wore helmets and it was cool.
You had to at the parks.
It's 2019 and I'm still trying to find out who plays the second song lol
The Brecker brothers band !!! Can't tell you the name of this song, but try "Some skunk funk" for another good one ;)

Rodney was 15 when they filmed this and he’s probably 5’6 or 5’7 (as of 2022 he’s now 55 years olds and 5’11)
Rodney Was 15 here. this video was filmed before august 1982. nowadays he is 55. next month he turns 56
@@GustavoKennedySk8 and he still looks really good for 55 a lot of the bones brigade still look great.
@kevinbaconisbest In answer to your question, no. I said the two most "popular", not the two "best".
please click higher quality? :)
Back when this video was uploaded in 2009, TH-cam's playback interface had an option for "Higher quality".
I never knew Caballero ever rode Tracker trucks. They always had a great team. The trucks were shit.
Still trying to find who plays the second song in this video...
Sounds like Mahavishnu Orchestra.....
Quite Zappa-esque
name of the song during rodney's cut?

Rodney Mullen is the best skateboarder!!!!
Certainly one of the most influential. You should check out his TED talk. Really neat.
@@soulofash2112 I've watched his TED talk. both talks. very inspiring!
@twildbill1 hahahahahah you must not like skating then, power peralta is not a person, its a company, Stacey Peralta is the skater...
nice raybans stacy
Those were Vuarnets. They were pretty much the coolest sunglasses back then - pricey, too, because they had glass lenses instead of plastic.
@@JBH123 I stand corrected 🙂
Back in the days skateboarding used to be creative and not as much textbook technical
