imagen beef and remove like 90% of the fat from it. thats about it. its lean af

Im from Belgium and good horse meat is not lean af like some idiots try to make you believe, it has a more rich taste wich is what makes some people love it and some hate it its never supposed to be well done meadium - rare is where its at. If you bake a steak for 20 mins its gonna be lean af obviously. In countries where its a popular meat its also less expensive than cow meat or chicken (Belgium excluded) Also it is more salty on its own than any other meat that I know of witout spices. If you visit Belgium you should try it and you'll either love it a lot or find it really disgusting. Its a 50-50

Horse meat is quite good actually. Comes to show how culture and taboo shapes your thoughts. The lady here is a bit overreacting when saying "it's disgusting" and the guy clearly doesn't even know what "cannibalistic" means.

As an American, I can say that I’ve never eaten horse meat, but I’m open minded to try it. The main reason horse isn’t served in America is because horses were a big part of our culture; refer to western era. Americans also eat a lot of different things that other countries would also consider different or “disgusting”, so we should all be open minded and respectful of eachother’s differences instead of judging one another.

i personally would not willingly eat horse meat, but these people have no case against eating horse meat. people are fiends with cows and pigs and chickens, just as they are with horses. so what, if other people in other places like other meat? all meat is just a dead animal, so there is really no difference; it is just the culture that is different.

We eat cows and not horses, that is so unfair to me because they are both farm animals.

Meat eater here. Ever hung out with a piglet? Afterwards you feel very, very, very, very bad about eating pigs. They have as much personality as a dog. Definitely more than a horse.

Humans and dogs are both highly carnivorous in nature, which is why we get along so well. Horses are different because they are prey animals. By nature, we are supposed to eat them. Carnivores in nature only eat each other in times of great starvation.

The better and less offensive answer would be, "It's just not in our culture." I see videos of Americans going to other countries where they see different things, only to insult the local culture in front of host nation's people. Even food review channels have this issue. Awareness is a word lacking in the US, and for that reason, you'll hear some folks say, "You're in America now."

Exactly ... and actually I’d say eating pigs is closer to “ cannibalism” because pigs are in fact smarter then horses..

It’s just pigs are one of the smartest animals.

Because during our frontier years we NEEDED horses in order to survive. It’s main purpose was not for eating like cows were. It was for transportation, work, and farming. It was so important that you could get hanged just by stealing a horse. There’s a cultural aspect to it

Different cultures have different perspectives on what animals are pets and what are for food. In China they don’t have dogs as pets, they use them for food. In India they don’t see cows as food

I think my only thing is the treatment of these animals in the slaughter pipelines as well as the rest of the animals the state animals are in can definitely ruin the meat even stressing them out abusing them causes big differences in the meat I’m no vegan or anything I can eat and hunt meat perfectly fine but I do understand when folks have the problem with the treatments of the animals yes they’re going to become food but still don’t mean they should have such a Grizzly end and this isn’t just for horses any animals used for consumption a lot are very mistreated and go through not so quick and painless deaths from what I’ve seen plus there definitely should standards no sick animals or pregnant animals or very young animals should be going through slaughter if they’re sick put them down it’s cruel for owners to be allowed to give away animals if they’re pregnant a young animal or injured/sick.
There definitely should be more rules and regulations put in place for slaughter pipelines

The horse helped shape the wild frontier in the American western expansion, crossing plains and canyons. And then it helped shape the cattle industry (dogs helped too). You don’t eat your only mode of transportation and you don’t eat your working animal. Are you acoustic or somethin?
