This is absolutely brilliant. I'm doing a client tomorrow who is perfect for this! She just wants to blend some gray in the front. I'm so glad I stumbled onto this. Thank you!!!!
I tried the original technique but I wanted a few more highlights in the top to connect. I tried it again doing 3 foils on the hair line, and then I did two really impossibly fine foils on each side of the middle part horizontally, painting high and low on every other weave to diffuse the line. After that I went back to the diagonal back pieces underneath the horizontals. Worked like a charm! Thanks for more great content again!
Keep up the good work , I got some framer foil , I’ve been practicing your techniques, I’ve always foiled and was taught the same way as you do , and passed it on to some of the girls I work with . 👍🏻
Noticed closer to the back you were putting bleach just at the mids and ends. Will this look blotchy on straight hair that is only blow dried and not curled? I only ask because I had a bit of a Balayage mishap that looked blotchy on super straight hair, lightening it that way.
Thank you. ..very Much. . I need to ask you .. you keep the same width of the sections what you take while you increase were you start applying the color .. is it right... or you increase the width of the sections as well...???
The width of the sections remain exactly the same throughout how ever the distance between each section increases as you travel towards the back of the head. I hope that helps
In exactly the same way I did the whole technique you simply just over direct the back to the front hairline the back hair is only coloured on the tips this is not a full head technique 😁👍🏻
No you don’t necessarily need to fit in the colour I mean you could if it made you feel better but you don’t have to have a direction does all the work in softening and the sections are not thick enough to create solid lines one of the things that you must do with this technique is not take to thicker section
Hi I have just come across your amazing tutorials and I’m binge watching 🤩 one question please do you always tone on top of your bleach when you balayage and money piece and do you have any tutorials on toning as it often worries me applying all through the hair as even with a low volume developer I’m anxious lift on the remainder hair may occur? Any suggestions or helping greatly relieved, many thanks x
Hi Rebecca super pleased you’ve been enjoying the videos and binge watching them!! So in a nutshell I would say I town 95% of all of my colours that I left if you are using a loan off developer and a true quasi or Demi permanent there should be little to no reason you will get a lift on the hair around it where are you get Loft is where the ammonia is strong enough to lift the hair and that ammonia usually comes from a more permanent hair colour the other thing that you run into it if the Peroxide volume is above 3% and even 3%/10 volume can cause you issues because it creates more oxygen and therefore potentially more lift depending on the style of hair colour you are using so the best thing to make sure that you’re doing is using an acidic toning service that’s why I specifically like Redken shades EQ making sure that you’re using a low enough Val anything under 3% is ideal and always following manufacturers instructions I can’t seem to remember if I do have any videos at the moment specifically on toning but if one comes to mind Rebecca I will surely add it to in this comment section for you to see
PS if you want to know if I’ve got one quicker than me remembering you could head over to the playlist on my channel and click on colour if it’s if I’ve done one it’s on there
Because you are over directing the back of the head to the front it will depend very much on how long the hair is. I would imagine there aren’t many sections underneath the bottom of the neckline but again if the hair is very long there you would be able to go all the way to the nape area over directing her to the front hairline usually from the hairline at the back to the front hairline at the front is around 15 inches so if the hair is longer than that then you will be colouring it. I hope that makes sense let me know if it doesn’t 😁👍🏻
The Life Of Hair Well lucky you, I live in Silicon Valley, one of the most expensive places to live in the world. I was a salon owner for many years but then I could no longer afford the rent and had to close my salon. Now I’m trying to figure out how I can continue to do what I love, hair.
So if I do understand well, the closer the foils get to the back of the head, the thicker the sections are ? I'm a little bit confused... But other than that, this video is amazing !!!!
So basically the foils get spaced out as you travel back towards the nape area at the back spacing the foils out like this insures you don’t put too many foils in creating that face framing feel with a few lighter pieces just through the back.
The back is done by over directing it all the way to the front hairline you just take horizontal sections 1 cm apart and pull them all the way to the front hairline so effectively it’s like graduation but in colouring form
Jason I see what you’re saying now Jason so if you wanted to make the end of the back later you need to do a separate technique after you’d put the files in so if you used a very low volume peroxide to put your files in and went back in and did say a back home or teased Balyage on the ends of the sections that are left out you would then have a very light face frame going into the ombre/Balyage effect of your choice
Thank you very much in this particular instance I let it process for 30 minutes because I had already previously coloured this manikin head but in general I keep an eye on my bleaches and try not to process them over the manufacturers recommended processing time which in Redken’s case is 50 minutes 😁👍🏻
B L Thank you very much, Yes it does have Balyage type vibes, Redken Shades EQ 09NB 20g 07NB 20g And the lightning was Redken flash lift 1 part to 1 1/2 parts 20vol 😁👍🏻

I applied a toner but no roots smudge 👍🏻
