Let’s talk about Viberg (specifically, the Viberg 2030 Service Boot)

- It’s time to finally talk about Viberg. I’m going to break Viberg out by last. This just video is specifically covering the Viberg 2030. I’ll cover the 1035 and 310 in future videos. Sadly, even though I’ve owned 4 or 5 2040 last Bergs, I’ve already sold or traded all of them. As much as I love the look of that last, I think I just need to come to terms that it isn’t the right last for my (right) foot. You can’t win the all I guess. 🤷🏼

Great discussion on my favourite boot brand. Sizing advice best so far. My collection is into the dozen now since 2020
@@paulwong4519 That’s awesome! When they get it right, is hard to top!
Like you I lovee my green viberg's
That vintage 2030 toe curve looks amazing for straight big toe people like me. The modern 2030 looks like a nightmare.
@@EDHBlvd Old Viberg Good as they say
I have the oliva tpr in maryam horsebutt as well, and all the chromexcels too all in the 2030 lasts. Three of my chromexcels like my natural, black and brown cxl have a plain cap toe which I got through Brooklyn clothing. I am amazed you have the colour 8 cxl with a brogue cap toe and a colour 8 tongue because if you get the 2030 colour 8 through Brooklyn it will have black tongue with a brogue cap toe. I think the brogue cap toe looks great on the colour 8 but I want the tongue to be the same colour as the rest of the boot.
@@RichardAugsten A pair of well clicked CXL Vibergs are a thing of beauty 👍
Wow, I can't believe they changed from that beautiful anatomical last to the torpedo, and I like the lower SPI as well.
@@noone3734 Yeah, it’s one of the mysteries of the boot world. But I still like them and they look good when broken in.
I bought a pair of viberg because they were running a limited sale and i fell in love. Their still my favorite boot makers and that 2030 last is the most comfortable last I've ever tried.
@@M1_u Yup! My plan was to just get one, so I could try them out for myself. I liked them so much, that really started a buying run for a couple years. I’ve slowed down and narrowed down the collection now thankfully.
There are boots both better and not as good as Vibergs, but nothing exactly the same in my opinion. Now I just enjoy my other boots on their own rather than in comparison to Viberg.
A half down on the old narrower 2030 last fit fine. On the newer 2030 last, a whole size down is the right fit. I am a 12D for general info.
@@williamswiger7547 On the 2030 started out with full down, and it worked for a couple of them. So, I kept those, but had to sell many of them and move up to half down. For the 1035 and 310, I can do full down. Never did figure out the 2040. I tried full down, then half down. Maybe I’ll try the 2040 tts. But maybe it’s just not good for my foot.
@@CsawBoots I have 4 in the 2030 last. One older (narrower) and 3 others. Had to donate my first pair on the 2040 as I was using my first older 2030 as a size guide. It was too long. Ended up later getting another 2040 going down a full size and they fit fine in length but the last is slightly on the narrow side. In my collection, the only other boot I had to size down a full size is the White's MP. Been collecting service type boots from different makers for around 20 years now. The Viberg and White's MP seem to be my favorites. The Truman and Parkhurst are my more budget ones. Also, have a weakness for engineer boots.....lol
I go a full size down on the 2030 and i went a size down on the 2020 last
I went half-size down from my Brannock, and the boots felt a little roomy and long. I'm not sure if that's how they are supposed to be, but they are comfortable, though. A far cry from my pointy Chelsea boots that cause me so much pain, hence the change to Viberg boots.
@@g43654 There’s a pretty big difference between the 10.5 and 11 2030. I can wear a 10.5 depending on the individual boot. Some work, some don’t. The 11, which is half down works well with a more relaxed fit and correct heel to ball alignment and appreciated space after a full day of wearing. I actually fit well in a 10.5EE 2030, so a full down and a width up.
@CsawBoots I really appreciate the more relaxed fit, although so much chunkier than my dress Chelsea boots, the 2030 is probably better for my feet health in the long run.
My boots fold right at the middle of the vamp, in between the brogue toe cap and the bottom of the laces. That's not a good fit, according to WeltedWiki. That's a strange one.
great stuff : )
I love the 2030.. I'd really like a 2020 or 2040..
they are definitely crazy expensive.. which is a bummer
cause it would be nice to have them in something a little more unique
than a cxl version.. might buy a used pair soon to get a more elaborate leather..
getting tough for me to justify it otherwise ,, but i really like the fit.. i imagine the 2020
would be even nicer..
i actually grabbed a Brannock device recently for the hell of it.. and then found out im actually a 9D.. not a 9.5 like i had thought ,, the 8E UK 2030 fits great for me
I think mine were made in an 'in between' period.. they have the newer tag style,, but it says Since 1931, underneath the word VIBERG.. the SPI on my is somewhere in between.. it still has more of the anatomical shape as well like the old ones,, but not quite as curved.. thanks for comparing..
when you said, they stopped making them... what do you mean..? ones specifically for Brooklyn Clothing or unstructured toes.?
I'm looking at ones lately in that same olive Maryam.. i really really like those.. and that green Ridgeway.. so nice.. i wish they had some hooks..
speaking hooks,, the honeycomb on your Tusc ones is amazing looking.. and im usually not crazy about honeycombing.. but those are perfect
Can you please tell me what was different about the 2040 that it couldn't fit you correctly..? Thank You.. this was a nice watch
@@toneohm I haven’t tried the 2020 yet, but I’m definitely curious. I had a number of very sweet 2040s, but I had to sell or trade them all. That last just has too low of an instep for my feet. So, that was sad.
the old 2030 last/pattern didnt cohesively blend the different parts of the shoe together well, on the new 2030, the lines from the heel to the toe all flow much more smoothly
@@milkshakeplease4696 My favorite are the new 2030 well broken in, well clicked brown CXL unstructured straight cap from Brooklyn Clothing. Prime Viberg 👍
Dang, I have my first Viberg’s on the way. They’re a 2030 in size 8.5. The retailer (butterscotchlb) says it’s a D width. I’m a 9.5D brannock so I went one size down. Looks like I’ll probably have to return these :( thanks for the welted wiki resource. That helped me a lot. If they’re the 2030 in a D width and not their standard E width should it still be half a size down from Brannock?
This may be an expensive mistake too. I just read their return policy is for store credit/exchanges only. And they only have an 8.5 or 9.5 in stock in the black CXL I want.
Potentially since it’s a D width the 9.5 may fit me?
Or there’s a size 9 available in the same boot in color 8.
@@Gabe_Dewey You might as well give it a go at full down. It works for some guys. It really depends on how high or low volume your foot is really.
NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Nice review.
Ok , they do not look like a 800.00 dollar boot , plus the side view looks nice but it does not look goo in front , yes no doubt sausage looking and straight narrow just dont look good. I prefer the 2040 look . Now viberg like Alden been around a long time and they ruled the boot market as the best , but that was yesteryear , to many boot companies came after and usually when that happens these newbies sees what viberg and alden has to offer and they do a dam good job for much less money .if i could buy just one i would and it would be 2040 style , for now i enjoy my grant stones , parkhurst , whites, Truman, and on list my first boot allen edmonds higgins mill which is not worth the price they charge.
@@Angel-AbC9 I love the look of the 2040, but it didn’t work for my feet unfortunately.
@CsawBoots that makes sense , no matter how good a boot looks if your feet don't agree with fit it's a no go.
you have a truncated view of how you analyze the aesthetics of the boot. you're just honing in on one part, the front, comparing it to the old one, and saying yes this old one better. Nah, the new one has much better lines when looking at as a whole, the lines flow much more smoothly. you're just hyper focusing on one part of the toe because you've been programmed to do that by people online.
@milkshakeplease4696 I focus on front only because when I wear it I see the front not sides or back , plus many reviewers mention same and that's how I notice it , so the sausage look can look pass that , lol. Viberg is great and if I buy it would be the 2040 .
@milkshakeplease4696 By the way nice touch on the vocabulary , truncated .
Do you have any other boots other than viberg ? That way u can compare and prove to yourself viberg are your best.
@@Angel-AbC9 I do. Take a look at my other videos. I may do some comparison videos at some point. 👍
@CsawBoots yea do some compare not necessarily what's better , that would be good
So all of ur vibergs are 2030 ? Why no 2040
@@Angel-AbC9 I have a couple pairs of both 310s and 1035s. Those will be in upcoming videos. I’ve owned a number of 2040s in two sizes, but had to sell them because the 2040 last is too low volume for my foot.
