Tesla is About to Dominate the 2024 Auto Industry!

  • In this video, we explore the major upheavals coming to the auto industry, with Tesla poised to come out on top. Ex-President Trump announced plans for a 100% tariff on cars entering the U.S. from Mexico if re-elected, which won’t affect Tesla since they don’t produce cars there. However, Ford and GM are vulnerable, as 47% of Ford's and 35% of GM's EVs come from Mexico. On top of that, the U.S. is considering banning Chinese-made car software and hardware. Lastly, with range anxiety fading, affordability remains the last hurdle for electric vehicles.

Elon likely cancelled gigaMexico in anticipation of trump's tariffs thing or hoping trump wins. When trump loses perhaps Elon will get back to 'minding the store' and focus on producing low cost EVs in Mexico to serve the global demand for these vehicles.

There's also the potential of Optimus. If factories become nearly totally automated, then cheap labor ceases to be a factor and other factors become dominant and Mexico might not be so attractive.

Trump doesn't respect any treaties or agreements much like his buddy Putin, all this would do is increase costs to consumers and we could expect retaliation. This uncertainty for businesses is just plain bad for business !!

In most cases, treaties are not marriages..... they last only as long as both parties continue to agree to the terms. Trump has forced change because he's looked to change the terms. Whether that's a good thing or not is a separate issue.

Not just with excluding Tesla all the time, but also with the internet deal of Harris that now costs Americans like 50 billion dollar for no reason.

When Tesla's evonomic becomes more visible, Tesla will speed up the Giga Mexico to produce the $25k. Given Maxico's foreign policies are relatively neutral, Tesla will be able to export that car internatiinally: it doesn't even need to export the US - if Trump bla bla bla

Do you really think that Trump would have held back with that announcement if he had been thinking about a 100 percent tariff on Mexico for months? I would bet he either came up with that on the fly, or at most started thinking about it on like, Wednesday! LMAO

There could be charging stations at every gas station in America but if the consumers don’t know this, the range anxiety will continue to exist. If consumers don’t know that Tesla supports fast charging and have larger batteries than the competition and can go 300 miles or more on a charge, range anxiety will persist.

@@Picklemedia, trump doesn't plan much but regarding EVs and renewable energy he has been consistently antagonistic preferring domestic oil energy independence. IF trump appoints Elon as some efficiency Czar then Elon will have effectively quit Tesla and SpaceX to go down a bureaucratic rabbit hole. Perhaps this is big oil's play: cut the head off the EV play by distracting Elon.

Tesla has proprietary hardware so nobody else will be able to run the software without buying teslas hardware (that severly limits partnerships as the FSD option isnt optional - thats why Teslas decisions years ago are so mind blowing and particularly how they make any margin). The same problem may occur in China, Will the US prevent Teslas proprietary chip being exported then the china market is screwed. If china wont allow Teslas proprietary hardware to run their own software which is locked with encryption Tesla is screwed. Only option is Tesla and BYD could perhaps copperate with reciprocal data centres but the IP issue is horrendous. Beware of what you wish for ( may or may not be a proverb).

This must be a rare occasion I agree with Mr Trump, I never understood how NAFTA benefits the US population, though it clearly benefits US businesses and shareholders - jobs are still exported, goods are made then by lower cost and more willing workers then imported to the US. The only winner in the spat between the US and China is Mexico because US businesses are setting shops there by busloads, parts companies are going there to be near their clients, even Chinese companies have found Mexico better place for their factories to get around tariffs and other trade barriers.

Whatever a government has to do to protect its own economy, it should do. We cannot just weaken our own economy because of agreements made in the past. If those agreements are not working for us, we have to renegotiate or get out of them. We cannot play fair while the rest of the world plays dirty.

Mexico has free trade or good trade agreements with many more countries than the US does. Many more, that is still relevant no matter what Trump does although of course it has an impact on a future Mexico Tesla plant.

Tariffs are punitive - not encouraging. Funds from tarrifs do NOT go to the industries they are purported to help - that money goes to the "General Fund". Plus they inspire retaliations. Instead of tariffs, use reduced tax incentives to encourage industries to be more efficient. Stop beating up folks to make them stop doing stuff. Either ignore them OR help their competition do better. Make America Kind Again - MAKA.

There is simply different cost structures labor being the biggest. You can't reduce tax for all issues. Government needs revenue. Doing nothing basically drives specific industry to bankruptcy.

Been a Tesla owner for 2 years now and love it. I just took a 2 week vacation driving from LA to Seattle on the 101 coast highway. I am so glad I did NOT rent a Tesla for this trip. The range on the Ford Edge I had was amazing, gas was everywhere, and chargers were rare on the 101. I could have made the trip easily on the interstate, but go up the coast highway and all of a sudden you are in the boonies.
We still have a way to go for people that want to take trips off the beaten path.
One Caveat. There was a large Tesla charger station outside the entrance to Yosemite. Good beginning, but not enough yet.

I bought a new KIA Sportage Hybrid which gets about 762 klm range for $40K & the Model Y in Canada is around $80K double the cost. I'm a Tesla investor but they are still way too expensive in Canada & they are complicated to operrate for older people who are not proficient with using that screen. It takes me all kinds of time to find something on my laptop so I can imagine how difficult it would be to find something on the screen in a car while driving. I'm quite sure though that once Grok is incorporated into the car & the car understands us efficiently so that voice commnads will be enough to operate the car that will be the point where they are available to all age groups. My uncle's 68 yr old wife is terrified of electric vehicles, my uncle took her for a test drive & she couldn't get out of the Tesla fast enough. FEAR - False Evidence Appearing Real.
