Great progress…your garden is a magical wildlife wonderland….so nice to see Luke and Sarah. She seems to be such a genuine, positive, lovely lady. Hoping for lots of dry weather ahead for your build. Lots of rain in the south of France too now….very strange unseasonal weather ! 🤞🏻 ☀️
Your editing of music, video, and B-roll was lovely to watch and listen to Very artistic. There are many TH-camrs doing home renovation and gardening. What sets some apart and special to watch is the artistic editing of their content. Bravo!
So nice to see your visit from Luke n Sarah n Molly. The loveliest couple. Your house build is looking great, you must be excited for all the wonderful things to come. 😊💗🇨🇦
Your garden is looking absolutely beautiful. Like Sarah said - I am not a jealous person, but I am jealous about their garden - well, this is me too...
@@NearbyVeggies There are some wonderful stories to be read about the folk who undertake these adventures. And so much to be learned - especially from so far away in Australia! Our country is so big, we have an enormous range of climates and conditions. The Portuguese climate is not dissimilar to where we are, and I’m learning heaps! Thank you
Once i saw a garden of Eden in all it's beauty, mainly colored in deep lush green, full of flowers - lots of ripe fruit in between. Vegetables in well kept old fashioned garden beds, surrounded and guarded by old wine bottles upside down ... Let's not forget the hazelnut hedges -- and the four cherry trees on the edges... Once i saw a garden of Eden...
Thank you for another fabulous video! You both work so jolly hard and your land is fertile because you have composted and mulched and loved it to within an inch of its life! What an awesome job you both do! Just love the music too!
Boy did I perk up at the bath tub scene🤩lol plug the bottom an let the rain fill it. Bathe ,what a drone shot 👀 Wild and Wonderful Wva Peekn in...missed yall last week😢
Hi Meriad and Dan, thank you for sharing another great video with us, always informative and such a joy to watch, we look forward to seeing your progress on the house and also the veggie garden. Thank you for sharing, Coen and Jay xx
Fabulous you guys got a visit from the Amazing Luke & Sarah plus Molly 😊.. They off grid on a shoestring with beautiful creations & luv various animals.. ❤️.
The one shot after pulling down the tall plants got a chuckle from me. All I could see was a green bush moving down the aisle. The long shot of the house now brings a better idea of how it will look later. Your garden is flourishing because of the multitude of flowers bringing in the pollinators. Plus you both make sure to build a decent compost pile and use the compost. Soon you two can put up a couple of chairs on that veranda.
How good you met up with Luke and Sarah. Your and their channels are my most watched, how down to earth your videos are, they're so refreshing to watch. Your garden Maraid, has come on wonderfully over the years it's so fruitful, beautiful. Sarah says she is a little jealous (joking) but watch the way her garden will progress over the years, and the way Sarah loves her farm animals is beyond anything I've ever seen. My wish for both channels is that everyone pushes that, 'SUBSCRIBE' button and get you to 100,000 subscribers, come on everyone push that button.
Thank you so much for the lovely update! Your garden looks so lush! A real paradise! Please update us if the nectarines managed to ripe on the counter. Watching the arduous process and the amount of work producing the concrete , I am wondering if ordering a load from those huge cement trucks would be helpful? Or is this not possible where you live?
They didn't ripen on the counter quickly enough so I roasted them before they went mouldy. We are having a very humid June and the same thing happened with our neighbour's nectarines. We had the big cement machine when the veranda was going up but it's not suitable for the other places.
You have the right idea with your pruning's. If you have bare soil, direct mulch. The greens will cool the soil, reduce evaporation so the soil will readily accept water when it comes, shade out weeds and begin decomposing, creating a home for all manner of beneficial soil builders. It's never to soon to begin experimenting with a drip irrigation system. The preferred manufacturer in Portugal is Rivulus. Search for the master stocking distributor in Portugal (may have to use Spain). My most recent homesteader friend reports his watering time went from 36 hours (hand watering with hose) a week to 3 hours a week (5 hectare system with manual valves - his choice). He is in Huelva Province of Andalusia Spain. It is funny how some of us grow attached to hats :)
Hi there. A tip from an Aussie. We love our, peaches and nectarines to ripen them. They are hard when you pickmthem. Leave on your counter no frig. The y will be ripe and juicy in 4 or 5 days. Yum😂😂😊
Sounds a bit like Ireland with all that rain. Only difference is we can't bank on any summer at all, still waiting! Your garden looks fabulous, full of colour 🙂
I enjoined the music as much as the video !!!!!!! great choices !!!! Everything is coming along , the garden and the house are looking spectacular , I am sure looking forward to see it, and don't worry the HOT months are almost here, summers in Portugal are hot and rain free. Saudades .
I am in Awe… yes AWE … the garden is amazing. I have not watched your videos for a while, but I’m about to spend my Sunday binge watching your back stock of vids.. Sending love from Oz❤️❤️
That nectarine tree is beautiful! Thankyou for your comment about the tomatoes on a string to get the light. I never quite understood it as I’ve never heard of tomatoes on a string here in Australia. We are always recommended to pinch out the inner stalks for airflow and just stake up. Light is not so much of an issue here in our summer! Your gardening practices in Portugal are closer to the Aussie way I reckon! Cheers to you, and a tap on the balcony? Absolutely! 😊😊
I really enjoy seeding your garden videos especially this year. The weather here in Montana USA has had too much rain, cold then hot then near freezing. Well very hard on the garden. Seems everyone’s tomatoes have gotten a really weird virus, after studying up 🆙 north it I chose to rip out plants and throw away. Season too short here to start over. I’ll grow some dwarf tomatoes indoors. I hope you get enough sunshine to continue with those ring beams!
So exciting seeing progress on your home and the garden of course.weve had our share of rain here on the upper gulf coast of Texas causing local flooding but thankfully it runs off quickly. Take care, stay dry ! ❤
If you want to dry fruit/veg get an old window and make a solar dryer from old 4x2 wood make a box frame put a backing on it then put window on top with hinges. Angle towards the sun and cut fruit/veg remove seeds place on wire cooling rack and allow to dry . Gardening Australia had one I made a similar and it works fast I dry herbs as well in it.
Nice to see the project going ! Hope to visite you guys one time ..... oure project is in the geoografic midle of portugal , sept a new roof! Greetz from the Netherlands 🙏🐇
Regarding tiles: why not take a long look at your beautiful stone walls and pick out favourite colours from the stones to help. A good match would link the floor to the walls.
Long time, no see 😁 Be aware for the workers safety issues. Namely head helmets, reflective jackets, gloves, eye glasses, paperwork about it. And so on. Please call the enterprise foreman or your architect about it. Good luck, all.
Also loved the opening music, is it a local group? Great to see so much progress, the finish line is almost in sight. Has Dan's Dad any plans to revisit this summer? ❤❤❤
re-binge-ing all your wonderful doings, filming (that lil drone is a beauty) n your wonderful team of builders n stonemasons. I'm a kiwi n find all their skills so admirable. As an organic gardener myself ( therefore into the magic of soil enrichment, especially in situ....cant see the point of carting stuff from one end to the other when nature does it so much better) I'm wondering why you don;t have a ride-on mower with catcher to capture all the grass clippings for mulch/weed control, rather than a strimmer (weed eaters we call em here!).There are different sizes to suit turning paths within large areas so they don't have to be huge things n cost mega dollars. I've found over the years that the mix of nitrogen (clippings) with the carbon (chips, chopped branches, leaves etc) made creating areas n improving soil just so easy
I came over from Luke and Sarah’s channel. I am binge watching your earlier vlogs. Ye are doing great work fair play to ye. Should your name not be spelled “Maraid”? What does Dan do for a living? How did ye meet?
Welcome 🤗 Meraid is my name according to my parents 🤣 and there is a little video answering the other questions ‘How did we meet?’ It’s lovely that you are interested. Thank you.
The rain in Portugal must be like a joke compared with the Irish one, no worries. I guess I have to confess that I'm also jealous, in a good way, of your garden. I live in a flat with a small "varanda" so no gardening for me 🥲 at least for the time being. Please be careful with the "dedaleiras" in your garden they are as beautiful as dangerous. "They can break your heart", so please wash well your hands if you mess with those. You must be sick by now of looking for the tiles to your "varanda" so give it a rest. For a change you must start looking for roof tiles. The very traditional ones "meia cana" should look nice with those walls, haha.

Just trying to imagine what the taste of nectarines straight from the tree is like... I'm an angler and do understand the difference in taste between a fish being eaten a couple of hours after being caught and a day later...
Growing up, I used to fish off the rocks for mackerel and in the rivers for brown trout and salmon. Mammy cooked them as soon as we got home and yes, the feeling of picking fruit straight from the tree is the same. The best. 😊
