Oh my goodness! Apparently I am not the only one going crazy here. The anchor clips that came with my rolling kitchen cart won't even attach to each other around the poles! So much for ending up with a cart that looks like the picture online. The "instructions" are nothing but arrows and pictures--no words, no details... I am going bonkers!
Actually you put the clips on first then slide the rack over them but regardless they don't fit period!!! My fingers are so sore from squeezing my fingers around those stupid clips. I'm icing my hands and taking Tylenol!!!

Trying to put an Easy Home 53534 and I swear TG these plastic things don't fit on the thing. There's a gap on either side of the clamp. Like, so frustrating.
This video is a joke. I just bought one of these shelf units because I was reading all these Home Depot posts about how easy it was to assemble. Are you kidding me? Those anchor clips are a pain because they don't clip property to hold the shelf in place and one pole didn't screw in properly. I thought I wasn't strong enough but it looks like other folks had problems too. She is up and not quite looking like the photo but she feels sturdy enough.
I had the same problem. And when I tried contacting the manufacturer I got no response. Maybe they would like the damn thing piled up in the parking lot.
Sigh. How I wish it was this easy. Like many who have already commented the black clips just slide down as I attempt to slide the shelf over it. A few people had some creative solutions I will try. I have another one of these purchased way back in 2008 and it's been great. Strange to have trouble with this one.

CLIPS TIP : The clips will snap together SNUGLY as long at the smaller ends are lined up with the indent line on the pole. I am putting mine together now and that was not mentioned on the video here, but I am still glad I found this video, very helpful!

I remember putting these together. They don't physically, completely meet each other and clip with a seamless view or a clicking noise. Their purpose is to stay in place and will be covered by the shelving unit, they are not meant to completely grasp each other---but I recall having to learn that. Mine stayed together for 22 years between many moves.
Just bought one of these and after watching this, I can confidently say I'm an official idiot...I think it took me over an hour and here, the guy made it look so simple...FML.😥😢
@@Kalamarajj that's amazing, you did way better than I did on time. After watching this, I bought another one for storage and did it a lot faster than the first. It's funny because I can figure out quicker how to assemble IKEA furniture than this...and IKEA instructions are just pictures...🤷
This may help: If you look closely at the poles, there are occasional notches that are wider than the others. Make sure the clamp is oriented properly (top arrow) and place it below this notch. Then slide the clamp upward and you should feel it stop. From here I was able to seemlessly slide the shelves down without the clamp moving. Hope this helps!
Passing on what I just learned....You don't need the clips to fit together all the way. For those whose clips are falling apart when you slide the poles through the shelf...your shelf is most likely upside down.
Our poles and/or the clips are not upside down. Checked and rechecked several times. It seems the grooves are not deep enough or the ridge on the inside of the clip is not thick enough to stay in the groove. We have tried everything. Shelves are supposed to hold 1000 lbs each but can’t evern stay put when putting pressure on them. Giving up and sending back!
this would be great if the plastic wedges, or "anchors" didn't always slide down unless a clamp is applied to the poles and the shelf is hammered down onto them.
This clips are not meant to completely lock. There is a little ring on the half clips. Align that right above the insert on the pole you want to have it at. Lock the claps as best you can and it will slide down around the ring on the pole. It will lock but there will still be a little space. When you put the shelf on it will completely lock it.
@@nancymills1884 clips don’t full lock, on mine either. Make sure the shelving unit is not upside down, the unit sleeves are slightly tapered. Someone commented on this and was able to get mine set up.
@@kgutierrez910 Thanks,after checking out a couple of other videos I finally got the shelves together. Thankfully just about everything is on TH-cam and networking with others.
We had to use two hammers on each side of the spacer and shelf hole to push the spacer in tight enough.by hitting both hammers toward each other. It finally got tight enough because prior to that they were slippin down the pole. It took us well over an hour to assemble.
Okay so I had some initial trouble with this, so here's what I learned: 1. The clips aren't meant to completely close 2. It helps to initially put the clip in between the ridges (directly above where you would like the shelf to sit) and then slide the clip down to the ridge where it shouldn't slide anymore 3. If the shelf isn't sliding down easily like the video, turn the shelf upside down but keep the legs as you have them. The final product will have the shelves completely flat, if your shelf has sides facing up like a bowl, you have it upside down. It's hard to explain but if you're having trouble, compare how you have your shelf to the final frame of the video. Hopes this helps someone!
I just spent 1 1/2 hours trying to assemble my 3-Tier Wire Shelving Unit. I can successfully clip the clips on the poles; but the shelving holes are too big and the two won't tighten. =(
I finally got mine to work! (Long comment alert). I had the issue of the black clips not closing around the poles like everyone else, and my shelves couldn’t fully slide down over them to set, even after using a hammer. (My clips were both Top-side up, and my shelves were correctly upright as well, so I didn’t know why I still was having an issue!) Then I found comments elsewhere about how the poles have double-rings/grooves in some spots (look closer at your poles to find them). And that the double-rings don’t work as well for aligning the clips? Since they’re supposedly not as deep of a groove as the single rings? And the comment said to slide your clips to a single-ring spot. That helped some people. But what really helped me was a comment saying to find that single-ring spot and slide only ONE of the clips down on the pole to place it until you hear a click! And THEN add the other clip! (No sliding down needed for the second clip). My clips still didn’t perfectly close together BUT they closed a lot more than before! Enough for me to successfully get the shelves to slide over them! And since it was just me assembling them, I did the middle and top shelves while having the unit/poles standing upright and had to lower my shelves slowly and making sure they all dropped smoothly and evenly. Then I tapped twice with a hammer and it worked! The shelves definitely didn’t lock down before I did this! Hope this helps!!

Mine went right together in minutes. Put the two clip halves together around the posts facing up. Then slide them down until they snap into the grooves. Mine worked so well, I'll be buying more.
I have older anchors and they do not say up and it is a guessing game putting together every few years when I pull them apart and move to another room.
I've struggled with this for close to 2 hours. I've finally got the bottom shelf on. Trick was you had to stick the bars with the clips inside the shelf first, otherwise they fall off. At least for me they do. Still not sure I've got it, but I'm going to keep going.

The double threaded nuts between the vertical posts don't properly thread into the posts. I can't find the actual support line for HollyHome. Any advice??
I tried to install the Finnhomy Heavy Duty 7 Tier Wire Shelving, the shelf rack just won't fit into every single clips, I tried to use my body weight, mallet hammering and the rack was just not able to insert into those clips, after 2 racks are bent with sheer force, I thought enought was enough and returned it.
IMPORTANT: the clips have an arrow on them and MUST be ponting UP on the leg. If not, the clip may not snap on the leg, and definitely won't allow the upper shelf to slide on. If you can't see the arrow, just flip the plastic snap amd check again. There is a small groove that the plastic clip must fit into on the leg or it won't fit. Take your time, it will go back together. Forcing it will snap the clip and you'll be hooped.
What I did to make my life not entirely full of frustration was take a stack of milk crates and put the wire shelf upside down on top of them. You can use a high desk or a table saw or whatever. Just so the shelf is like 4 feet off the ground. Then take a the uprights apart so they're two lengths of pipe. Then attach the plastic clips on the four pieces of upright pipe. Then simply slide them into the shelf holes. And of course, they'll sit in the holes and you give them a bit of a yank to secure them. Then take the section of shelf and flip it over and start building. Easy peasy, quick and easy. Trying to slide a full length of pipe into the holes with a single shelf turned sideways looks like mi-ser-eeeee.
@@jlouis5217 Yes...but getting those first four poles installed is frustrating. It's hard to shove the shelf down on the clips when the first shelf is sideways.
My issue is that i have one of these in an apt that i desperately want to get rid of, but since the shelf was definitely assembled in this tiny room, it takes up the entire space so is impossible to remove unless i dissemble it 😢 ill give it credit for being very very sturfy
At 1st it seemed that I was going to have the same issues with the clips actually not snapping together. After getting the 1st shelf in place I noticed that it was most definitely a tough fit over the clips. Nope, not going to work! Even trialed on of the clips that snapped together (albeit) not on the poles and once again tried to insert it in the shelf. Once again, not going to work! Then I flipped the shelf in the correct direction since I was hoping that upside down the shelf upright will help things not falling off. And what do you know, it slide right on.
I got one shelf on and none of the others will fit. they won't come down over the clips that do not close all the way and allow the post hole to fit over it.
I just bought 4 shelf racks and they came snapped together. I've been trying to pull them apart but am not having success. Am I physically weak or is there a knack to separating the shelf racks?
Im so aggrivated because I feel like I am placing those black clips on correctly. But when I lower the shelf on them it just pushes the plastix peices down down until they break a part or the shelf just ends up completely uneven be ause the black peices are pushed down :-( . I threw away the packaging material and it may be too late to return this to home depo. Im very unhappy .
Make sure the flat side of the shelf is up, which for a home isn't ideal, imo. Once I corrected the shelf direction the black clips stopped popping off.
The clips are too small to go around the pole. Like WTF? I tried using players to force them in place and the other side just pops out. Should've just given us pre aligned holes with wingnuts.
Just to inform those whose clips don’t fit. The label that says top is actually in accurate. Flip it around and you can see that there are smooth grooves on that side that allow it to slide in.

I cannot screw al the columns completely. 2 of them are so hard to screw that I hurt my hands doing it. It's basically impossible to screw them with bare hands. I need special tools but don't know which one. I bought two pieces and they have the same problem . Anybody has a solution for this ? If i can't screw all of them completely, then the shelf is not going to stay horizontal. :(
Okay! Two things. First. Take a close look at those black half moon clips that we are bitching about. One side says “UP” or “TOP”….guess where that goes! Another is slide it up the pole until you feel it “click” into place. Count the rings or use a tape measure. You want them even. Guess what…it works now. My instructions, in three languages, never mentioned any of that. Good luck!

Yes but when you slide the shelf down if those clamps aren't tight and the shelf bumps them at the right spot the clips pop off!

From here I was able to seemlessly slide the shelves down without the clamp moving. Hope this helps!

No. Doesn't matter even if you have the shelf sliding down correctly.

When I hammer the shelf down (mallet ) those clips just slide further down! 🤬🤬🤬
This clips are not meant to completely lock. There is a little ring on the half clips. Align that right above the insert on the pole you want to have it at. These videos show the clips locking in place. Mine are a good 1/4 inch open. If you can hold the clips, the leg and the shelf - I’d be interested.

Like everyone else my clips did not fit around the pole so I wrapped painters tape around each clip. That did the trick!
I find the tapered locks are uneven because they don't connect fully on each side of the lock.

Have spent an hour just trying to get one blasted shelf over the anchors which do not close. Apparently the manufacturers just don't care.

Can it be assembled with the shelves flipped over? I like the side rails to be on top of the shelves instead of underneath.

After getting the 1st shelf in place I noticed that it was most definitely a tough fit over the clips. Nope, not going to work! Even trialed on of the clips that snapped together (albeit) not on the poles and once again tried to insert it in the shelf. Once again, not going to work! Then I flipped the shelf in the correct direction since I was hoping that upside down the shelf upright will help things not falling off. And what do you know, it slide right on.
This product is very good. I can adjust how tall of each shelf to be.
Where can I find those “S” hooks you use to connect two shelving units? Also what are the correct term for those?
How the heck is your top shelf level with the posts and the image shows its level, but the clips don't attach that high???
Hey what about using a vice grip after you get the clip where you want it. But youd need 4 vice grips. Oh well.

I got one shelf on and none of the others will fit. they won't come down over the clips that do not close all the way and allow the post hole to fit over it.
Was having problems with the first shelf and realized I had it upside down, ridge is supposed to be down. Once I figured that out it was easy peasy.

I just bought 4 shelf racks and they came snapped together. I've been trying to pull them apart but am not having success. Am I physically weak or is there a knack to separating the shelf racks?

Im so aggrivated because I feel like I am placing those black clips on correctly. But when I lower the shelf on them it just pushes the plastix peices down down until they break a part or the shelf just ends up completely uneven be ause the black peices are pushed down :-( . I threw away the packaging material and it may be too late to return this to home depo. Im very unhappy .

Weight it can handle?
Make sure the flat side of the shelf is up, which for a home isn't ideal, imo. Once I corrected the shelf direction the black clips stopped popping off.
By far, the most heinous shelves I have assembled. Steer clear of HDX products.

The clips are too small to go around the pole. Like WTF? I tried using players to force them in place and the other side just pops out.
Should've just given us pre aligned holes with wingnuts.
But the clips dont fit ariund snug. Theres a huge gap on both sides and when you slide the shelf down half of them pop off!!!!

The label that says top is actually in accurate. Flip it around and you can see that there are smooth grooves on that side that allow it to slide in.

IF YOURE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE CLIPS AND SHELF SLIDING DOWN, TURN THE SHELF UPSIDE DOWN. ITS NOT MEANT TO BE LIKE A BASKET. THE SHELF SHOULD BE COMPLETELY FLAT. THAT SHOULD HELP!!!
I cannot screw al the columns completely. 2 of them are so hard to screw that I hurt my hands doing it. It's basically impossible to screw them with bare hands. I need special tools but don't know which one.
I bought two pieces and they have the same problem . Anybody has a solution for this ? If i can't screw all of them completely, then the shelf is not going to stay horizontal. :(
nevermind, i unscrewed the other ones so that they're all approximately aligned.. this makes the shelf relatively horizontal and it's stable enough

Mine also. Clip seems to small for the pole. Will clip on one side but I can't close it on the other side.
It doesn't fit but snap one side and then slide it down and it will lock. Then put your shelf on when all 4 are done.
mine keep poping off though. my shelves have wheels but doesn't appear straight.

YES, it's not supposed to clip on both sides. It's is supposed to making a click noise when you slide it into place.

Those black two piece anchors DO NOT slide through that easily on mine. 😢
Okay! Two things. First. Take a close look at those black half moon clips that we are bitching about.
One side says “UP” or “TOP”….guess where that goes!
Another is slide it up the pole until you feel it “click” into place. Count the rings or use a tape measure. You want them even.
Guess what…it works now.
My instructions, in three languages, never mentioned any of that.
