It was interesting to see how the site of the current stadium evolved over the years. It was fascinating to see the old photos. I particularly liked the ones of the Malthouse, the flooded Carrow Road, and the crowds. Great aerial shots too. It was fun to see all the old cars in the car park. I remember standing in the River End in the 1970s and 1980s. Lots of pushing and shoving when Norwich scored a goal. Thank you for a very enjoyable step back in time 💛💚

Another fine Video John. Not being a football fan I had not realised how little I had noticed the changes since the 70's. The video mention of Hooliganism brought back a memory from the early 70's when on a Saturday visit to the city saw the road from the railway station to Carrow Road lined with police and the Manchester untied fans being escorted to the ground. The only time I have have been in the stadium was to watch Status Quo ! thanks for jogging a few memories.
@@JohnAtkinsLostNorwich Although not a fan, I know how much City means to those fans, my later father- in -law and my wife's brother were. Even after moving away to the midlands my wife 's brother would visit as often as he could. When he died, it was a green and yellow scarf, on his Coffin.

Watford fc before they moved in 1923 . Used to play in Cassio road. There is still a sports ground there after all these years. Incredible really considering every peace of spare land seems to be grabbed by developers these days.More Frickin luxury flats nobody can afford.
Remember standing on the river end open stand with Peterborough in some cup competition not sure what cup it was could of been something like the watney cup then years later standing in the corner of Barkley end with my beloved Toon army
Thanks for adding. My memory of the River End is getting soaking wet in a downpour and the ball getting stuck in mud without crossing the line, against Bristol City, 4-1 I think!
@JohnAtkinsLostNorwich The blue and red seating was put in for the 75-76 season. Originally, there was a small standing area at the front which was removed a season later. As for the colour, they were the only ones available nearly fifty years ago.
@@JohnAtkinsLostNorwich As I understood it, as all clubs had to make the change, the seats were originally destined for Upton Park but West Ham weren’t ready quick enough so we took their seats which were available. (West Ham were able to retain red and blue as our seats were still on order and they could change the colour).
Excellent as always. If the Man Utd game is the one that was the subject of a TV documentary, segregation was already in place, not added after that game, it maybe augmented. Someone let the Man Utd fans into the Norwich ‘pen’ . There was a suspicion that this was done to create more drama for the documentary . If so, they got what they wanted in spades.
I lived in Norwich at the time of the United game when they destroyed the Barclay stand. One of the United fans that was filmed on the Barclay roof for the local news coverage lived on the next street to me, there were several United fans in my area and they all attended that game.
The picture at 5:54 was taken in the summer of 1975, and to associate it with the post-Hillsborough era is totally wrong. If you can't accurately date a photograph then you shouldn't be using it.

I've still got all my programmes from the 58/59 cup run. Things have changed quite a bit since my first match in the early fifties.
I remember collecting programmes. Wish I'd kept them!

Was the South stand not all seater prior to Hillsborough? My first game was in the mid 80s and im sure we sat in the South stand
