I think HP has created a software error. I've seen about 20 of these printers on seller platforms in the last couple of weeks saying the same thing.

HP printers have a software way to disable and show this cartridge error. This problem whether intentional or not can be solved by unplugging the printer for hours. Not minutes..... Also do this: Find your printers I.P. address. go to that page in a browser. Click Settings/Preferences/Anonymous Usage Information Storage SET IT TO OFF. Then Preference/HP Cartridge Protection TURN IT OFF.

@smithderf This just happened to mine. I am hoping your idea works with unplugging it. Ironically, this all started happening after I did the alignment and cleaning options located in the settings option.

This is the second video in a row I have seen which does not show whether what they did resolved the problem!

I followed your video but also added an extra step. Inside the printer body, where the printhead's 40 copper contact pads (8:29) make electrical contact with the printhead carriage (13:23), lightly sand those contact points as well with emery cloth. (It doesn't have to be a rubber eraser, just make those contacts shine). This resolved my problem of the printer not finding the printhead. Also, you'll need a set of Torx screwdrivers (#T6 and T9 orT10) to remove the printhead screws. Got mine at Walmart in the auto parts section. Better that scrapping the printer.

Come on bruh. U made the same exact video that u posted a year ago, this time with a slightly different technique and U STILL DIDNT PROVE WETHER OR NOT YOUR SOLUTION WORKS! And to top it off u ran 10 ads on a 13min video. Unbelievable, I don’t write comments often but this is truly ridiculous. Did u read any of the comments on the previous video because most of them weren’t too pleasant either. At least u didn’t add that annoying music this time around!

Who_Dat? Yep I actually made a similar attempt to solve the issue as in the video. Didn’t work. So instead of buying a new printhead, I went ahead and switched to a laser jet printer. So I wasted a lot of time and stained my hands for a couple weeks with ink. Not worth it compared to buying a new printer.

    • @neilnagy4432

Easy fix to get the print head to the proper position:
First, turn off the printer. This will cause the printer head to retract, but it then moves back to the right side position again. Turn it off again and this time be sure to pull the power source (Plug) as soon as it returns to the left position. This stops the printhead in the proper position so you can remove the cartridges out and remove the printhead. After the printhead is removed and IF you plugged it back in to the power source, DO NOT PUSH THE POWER BUTTON to turn it on until the printhead is reinstalled as it could damage your printer.

Same issue, after doing a reset, i got a error saying my yellow cartridge (brand new from HP) is damaged but the problem is the carriage is stuck on the right side even after performing a reboot. No light from the cover. I will have to open the right panel, manually remove the carriage and check the pins over the spring in the ink carriage, that or either the chips. The cartdriges need to clip in the back but maybe the sensoris affected. No clues, online ressources said nothing about this issue.

I tried this on mine, it has gotten rid of the error message. I flushed with alcohol until the alcohol was coming out clear in all sections, as well as cleaning the contacts with an eraser and alcohol. The colors are still running because of the residual alcohol left in the ink wells, but I imagine that will go away over time.
