      Thanks Chris. It's been way too long. We all need to get together again soon. I'll bring free bowl bowls, I have more than I know what to do with.

    The forstner bit had some very cool shavings coming out. The finished shot of the platter is one amazingly sexy piece of wood. Great work by you and Patrick. I look forward to seeing more joint projects, and I've subbed to Patrick's IG. His work is awesome.

    Gotta say, I really enjoy watching you turn. Your sense of humour is a delight, too. I use easy wood tools exclusively and am delighted to have found your channel.

    Really nice and unique, Tim. Now you have to figure out a use for those corners you cut off at the bandsaw.

    You should create 4 cereal bowls from one of his cutting boards. That way you would have a matching set to match that serving bowl. It would be a beautiful party set

    • @patrickhuston6684
      @patrickhuston6684 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bowls would be a good idea but not for liquids. End grain absorbs moisture and wouldn't be good for holding liquids. After I build an end grain cutting board I submerge it into a tub of mineral oil for an hour. A 12 x 18 x 1 3/4 cutting board can absorb 6 plus ounces of oil. Keeping a cutting board oiled ensures water can't absorb into to wood. Water will expand and contract the wood when drying which can cause your end grain cutting board to crack. End grain is superior to cut on as it is somewhat self healing and doesn't dull your knives as quickly.

    Beautiful food bowl. I don't think I am up yo do one. Been making funnel or two, bad thing is I am double and triple checking and still I either went through or it so thin a crack is highlighted. Augh! Oh well maybe I need a break.

    How big is this bowl and depth

    • @patrickhuston6684
      @patrickhuston6684 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I made the cutting board 12 1/2 by 12 1/2 and 2 3/8 thick. The previous bowl I made was 3" thick and 10 1/2 in diameter.
