    lol. people are still watching this video? I was about to delete it. That was just because if your swimming on the surface its easy to gauge your position by looking at the surrounding rocks. If your on scuba, you'll have to find your way there along the bottom, without the visual aids you get from being on the surface. Still possible, but you'll need to follow a compass bearing with a map.

    I'm getting scuba certified and I really want to visit this spot! I'd be so nervous though, the caves seem so tiny lol

    All depends on my wetsuit, if i am using my 5mm or 3mm, and depth im diving to. I was using 3kg in this video. its a 5/4/3 wetsuit, depth from 8-15 meters

    hi. thank for awesome vid.. map and detailed explanation. i dive false bay most weekends, in a 4.3 suit, even in winter.. once at 12 degrees. Do you think a 5mm would be warm enough in summer? temps are unusually high at the moment, but in normal conditions? don't like anything thicker, as i find it too restrictive. or what open cell would you suggest? Thank you so much, your videos are so inspiring. sh

      i mean what is your advice for this site,... as far as suits are concerned?

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +noblue nogreen Well personally im using a 5/4/3 Billabong. I prefer the surfing brands, 1 piece suit, chest entry design for more stretch and less neopreen.. than these thicker suits with trousers of long johns with a beaver tail etc - but if your in to that type of suit, I think Coral Wetsuits in cape town make a good open cell freediving suit - a lot of freedivers using the Coral wetsuit 5mm thick. Billabong also have the SG5 6/5/4 which is about as warm as it gets!

    Dean, this is my favorite spot! Never understood when vis is best though, but seems like you cracked it!? What's the link with the South Easter? Do tide and swell not affect vis in any way?

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +lbriet Tide is not a factor for this site. Normally I would go to the ocean every day and look. I was so lucky on this day, its a day that I will never forget. That was in 2012, but I was never to repeat it again, in 2013, I had bad luck always... 2014 some good days, and 2015 again some good days, but nothing exceptional

      +Freediver HD Almost magical in those conditions yes.. Still think the SE is related? Conditions best after it has blown for a few days?

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      lbriet A strong SE does help... Thats what most divers will tell you.. its is true. Though sometimes is blows, but the water is stubborn and still doen't turn clear (maybe just didnt blow long enough) and sometimes it takes very little blowing and suddently its its clear. This day in the video there was no wide, it was just suddent clear. If there was some way to know the sea temperature, that would be the most accurate method... when it is dropping below 12c then its generally clear, and the further towards 8c, the better.
      You can have a look at these vids if you are interested. All taken at this dive site, all right next to each other: 1. Oil Tanker Wreck: th-cam.com/video/8tJVlcaWifk/w-d-xo.html

      +Freediver HD Ha! Interesting one that, the relation with temp. Will keep it in mind. Loved the vids, seen them all. :) Thanks for the tips Dean, and fingers crossed for good conditions when you come visit again!
